Well for a weapon I can actually use well it would be either tonfa or bo-staff but for a weapon I'd really like then definitely a battle hammer. And none of this 'realism' stuff
I don't want it to look like one that would actually have been used I want it to look like one in a video game.

Basically, any one-and-a-half handed sword would work for me, plus a couple of gauntlets. I wouldn't really care if none of those were adorned with anything special, so long as I could use them.

Fictional - A lightsaber is the obvious choice.
All around - A halberd. A spear, hook, and axe on the end of a pole. What more could you ask for in a weapon?
Zombies - either a katana or a warhammer. I don't know how difficult it is to behead someone with a katana (and I guess it's a good thing if I never find out), but I know for a fact that a warhammer in my hands can cause massive head trauma with little effort.

Kratos' Blades of Chaos. They can be used in both close quarters and at longer distances, they're powerful and they're shiny.

A fish wrapped in newspaper held together with a rubber band.

But in all seriousness, probably something blunt and that doesn't call for much Finesse whilst swinging... maybe a spiky mace =D

I'd go with a spear, I don't get the your screwed if they get in close comment its a spear it has range use it too keep the opponent at distance if you f up you've still got a staff to push them back with, or a spatha a single handed broad sword of the Romans basically a longer gladius. Those two weapons have been used throughout history because their simple and extremely effectiv.

Personal Melee Combat Arsenal:

Long Range - Naginata, using "Hando".

Mid Range - Shovel, using "Hanjutsu".

Close Range - Bladed Gauntlet, using "Hanshido".

I like polearms for capability, gauntlets for versatility, and shovels (the hands down, best all around tool ever) for utility.

Chainsaw...on a chain. It's like Kratos, but you're insured against zombies. I could never imagine dual-wielding that thing, but hey, it'll do damage.

Make mine a good ol' fashioned flanged mace. The bane of knights and the reason why blacksmiths spent so much time panel beating.

agreed but if i needed the weapon to kill id take the go old combo of hammer and shield it has all the offense you need and the defense as well:)
That's the thing though, as easy as it is to SAY you could kill, I think it takes a lot of mental strain to actually do so unless you have been trained to do so or are somewhat insane.
Plus, I think subduing and not killing your assailant will grant you a higher moral ground somewhat.
And if you are going for vengeance(which I WILL do if any one tries to mess with my loved ones) well... if you kill them, it's over quickly and they do not get to reflect on what they've done. To see your enemies begging for mercy so they will think twice before doing that again. And that's the best part, Giving them a second chance and letting proper authorities handle them.

Sorry if a little surreal, Had a straining day and it's still fasting month so I'm a wee bit woozy

That said, I'd prefer dual wielding kali sticks so that it gives a good blend of attack and defense

Swords in general, they are perfect, humble, balenced, violente and deadly, I love them way too much, and I am going to buy one.
