...They changed the face of gaming, and I haven't even heard of half of them, or played any.

Sounds like silly list is silly shenanigans.

I don't actually know how old Animal Crossing is. The only Version I know of was the DS one... and that sure isn't that old.
2002 for the Nintendo 128... err Gamecube. It's really a stretch to come up with any reason for any of these games to be considered influential to later games.

Here's a more appropriate list:

Halo
Quake
Tetris
DOOM
Bejeweled
Tomb Raider
Final Fantasy
Resident Evil

I wouldn't even say it's a great list that I made, but it's far better then that... THING... in the poll!

Now that's an odd list.
I'd almost go as far as to say that Associated Content is trolling.

I've never played a single one of these games. What does that say about how influential they are?

Oh, sorry, I lied. I played Fable II. And it was no different from any other RPG before it, except maybe the minigame work-for-a-living thing, which I don't think caught on.

Wow, kinda sad to see so many people not "getting" what this poll is. If they threw a bunch of famous games up their, it would devolve into a popularity contest. "Most influential" doesn't mean it had to be that influential at all, it just needs to beat the rest of the list.

I voted Animal Crossing, because it was so new. It does share some aspects with Harvest Moon, but I don't know how HM was received, and Animal Crossing is more accessible because tornadoes won't sweep away your chickens and cattle if you forgot to put them in the barn.

I have no idea why Four Swords...y'know what, scratch that, I know exactly why LoZ:FS has so many votes, b/c it's a frickin' Zelda game. By trying to avoid a popularity contest, they have gone over most people's heads which has caused it devolve into a popularity contest...ugh. LoZ is only innovative in it's first iteration on a console (Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker).

Edit: The numbers have shifted somewhat, so I'm not as angry, but I'll leave my rant up.

I'd say in the short term that wii sports changed gaming the most in that it was the game that told people what to expect from motion controls, as well as introducing a great many new people to gaming. In the medium term I'd say that it depends on the genre, each genre has had a game at some point that changed the expectations of gamers, like half-life for instance.

I'm going with the none option of everyone else.

The real answer is Myst. Its sales figures single-handedly moved the CD-ROM as a major medium for gaming.

While those games do have a significant place in the industry, they aren't really "Influential" in any way. If I had to choose, I'd have to say Animal Crossing because it was different and it used some ideas that people never really thought of.

...okay, whoever chose that list needs to be shot. Repeatedly. And then prosecuted.

I actually haven't played very many of these, just Fable II and Disgaea. I don't see anything revolutionary about either of them.

I don't think any of these are really that influential. I liked the Gundam game, but it certainly didn't change my life or change gaming.
agree. this was a very bad selection.

Fable 2 I suppose. It changed the way people can interact online. Digaea is a close second for me. It is the go to game for basic Jrpg tactic games. Plus it's so freakin excessive and hilarious.

This list could be easily be which game changed gaming the least...

I voted Harvest Moon because it was unique, addictive and basically the concept that's made a lot of money in the guise of 'Farmville'.

If there were the option I'd say Final Fantasy VII marked the move towards the heavy use of cinematics.

Metal Gear Solid pioneered the tight integration of game mechanics, storytelling and other media in to a cohesive whole.

And even if no one remembers, Secret of Mana was the first RPG that allowed you to go multiplayer coop.

Is this an advertisement? because it seems like one. For fable, because its the newest/most famous game on there, and is the only sequel mentioned.

Well none of them have changed gaming, let's be honest.

I think one of the games that has changed gaming the most would be Deus Ex.

Disgaea, because of half way decent sequels. Very Funny, near unlimited leveling. Fun strategy fighting, unique character development in story, but as far as changing gaming... idk.

These seem like the most random games, like i'd expect WoW, medal of honor, and Morriwind but these games. I mean federation vs. zeon... spawned one of the most repitive and gimmicky series out there even though itself was a very good anime based game.

I must say, that the appearance of Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation Vs Zeon, on the list is highly adequate, however at the same time it does not do justice to the genre-defining phenomenon that is the Mobile Suit Gundam series.

I am also the emperor of the universe, and pantsless. Good day!
