I recently chatted with a person who was afraid to seek a career in game design because he didn't want to create something that could be potentially addictive. I then remembered a quote from Suikoden 5, from the character Isabel of the Maximillian Knights. I don't remember it verbatim, but it was something along the lines of:

"Evil must be destroyed, but Violence is the most evil thing of all. Every time I swing my sword, I must take more evil out of the world than I put into it."

In essence, what I get when I think on this is that, with most anything you do in life, you have the potential to bring evil into the world. However, you also have the potential to bring great good into it as well. The key, then, is to always bring more good into the world than you do evil.

"I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favourite store on the Citadel" - Commander Shepard

I'm sorry if anyone has already said that, it was the only one I could think of.

Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.
Terry Pratchett, Discworld

Everything starts somewhere, although many physicists disagree.
Terry Pratchett

Always be wary of any helpful item that weighs less than its operating manual.
Terry Pratchett

?The phoenix is an angel; the clapping of whose wings is the roar of thunder. And this thunder is the fearful note that heralds the cataclysm, And the roar of the onrushing waves that will destroy paradise.? from Horus Heresy: Fulgrim

"IN SILENCE, ONLY truth remains. But to find it; ah, there is the task. For, one must ask herself, what place is truly silent? Where can the absolute stillness of tranquillity be found?"
Horus Heresy - Tales of Heresy

I'm just like a little kid, see? You tell me to sit still and it makes me wanna run around even more.

- Rei, Breath of Fire III

It's just something I've held dear for many years, a sort of justification if I ever wanted to do something I wasn't supposed to do. This quote always gives me the final push before the edge of rational thinking.

We're just two children, pretending to be adults, aren't we?
- Hisao Nakai

This one really doesn't make much sense out of context, but within the game "Katawa Shoujo" this quote really stuck with me as a phrase to get me thinking after I had finished playing.

A brilliant, brilliant movie. Good choice sir!

OT: "And when you say, 'Jesus,' you're talking about your leader. But when I say 'Jesus,' I'm talking about a guy who walked the earth for thirty-three years like any other guy but caught the imagination of PR cats." (Archie, The Chocolate War)

"Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual.

It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.

Christy, take off your robe.

Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument.

Sabrina, remove your dress.

In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism.

Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little.

Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock.

Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole.

Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds.

Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it.

But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite."- Patrick Bateman, American Psycho

The perfect blend of mundane infodump & psychopath; absolute gold.

Just about anything Vivec said in the 36 lessons of Vivec, or anything he said in general.
http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_36_Lessons_of_Vivec

but one of my favorites is parts of number 11

"The waking world is the amnesia of dream. All motifs can be mortally wounded. Once slain, themes turn into the structure of future nostalgia. Do not abuse your powers or they will lead you astray. They will become lost and resentful and finally become pregnant with the seed of folly. Soon you will be the grandparent of a broken state. You will be mocked. It will fall apart like a stone that recalls that it is really water.

According to the Codes of Mephala there can be no official art, only fixation points of complexity that will erase from the awe of the people given enough time. This is a secret that hides another. An impersonal survival is not the way of the ruling king. Embrace the art of the people and marry it and by that I mean secretly have it murdered.

'According to the Codes of Mephala, there is no difference between the theorist and the terrorist. Even the most cherished desire disappears in their hands. This is why Mephala has black hands. Bring both of yours to every argument. The one-handed king finds no remedy. When you approach God, however, cut both of them off. God has no need of theory and he is armored head to toe in terror."

"I was weak. That's why I needed you... needed someone to punish me for my sins... but that's all over now... I know the truth. Now it's time to end this. "

"There is porn of it, no exceptions"
-Rule 34 [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Rule34]

"If no porn of it is found, it will bw made"
-Rule 35

"No matter what it is, its somebodys fetish"
-Rule 36/51 (Depends on who you ask)

"For every given male character, there is a female version of that character (and vice-versa). And there is always porn of that character. No Exceptions."
-Rule 63 [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RuleSixtyThree]

Theese four quotes ensure the probability of the most improbable of fan-made pornography. For better, and usually for worse.

"That's everything. No weapons... no friends... no hope. Take all that away, and what's left?"
"Me."

"Dresden. It's nice to see you alive. Your sense of humor, of course, remains unchanged, which is unsurprising, as it seems to have died in your adolescence. Presumably, it entered into a suicide pact with your manners."

"It will change, you know. Nothing you do will stop me from believing that. Torak offered to be my father, and now Zandramas offers to be my wife. I rejected Torak, and I reject Zandramas. You cannot lock me into immobility. If I change only one little thing, you've lost. Go stop the tide if you can, and leave me alone to do my work."

Chris Redfield: The thing about capitalism, whenever you gain, someone else loses.

Eleanor Lamb: Love is just a chemical, no matter the origin. We give it meaning by choice.
(and in a different ending)
You showed me that my survival, my joy, are all that matter. I Indulge, nothing else exists.

Sheogorath: It's new, and I like new, even if it's bad!

The Joker: We're not contractually tied down to rationality, there is no sanity clause!

But mostly this one:
Agent K: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll 'know' tomorrow.

"The only ones who should kill are those prepared to be killed." - Lelouch, Code Geass

And my next quote isn't actually a quote I recall. It's simply the fact that, at the end of Ghost in the Shell:SAC:2nd Gig, the Tachikomas, who were able to develop true sentience on their own, who come to truly understand what life means, who one character suggests were actually able to create Ghosts, sacrificing themselves to block a nuclear strike, all while singing a song about how wonderful the world is and knowing they're alive.

"While the Truncheon made be used in lue of conversation, words will always retain their power, words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the inunciation of truth"

"people should not be afraid of their government, government should be afraid of their people"

- V, V for Vendetta
