I'm going to be a conspiracy theorist right now and say that Isn't it a coincidence that these guys accused of there being rape in video games and then a year later, you know, THE AMOUNT OF TIME THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY TAKES TO MAKE A MODESTLY PLAYABLE VIDEO GAME, this game appears on the market?

I'm gonna say that this was a put up. "There's rape in video games!" "Uh sir, we have an inventory of the mainstream game industry here, and there is none..." "Then we'll have to COMMISSION someone to make one..." Vaz's guys go to Japan, commission someone to make the game, then pay (or have that company pay) Amazon to advertise it in Western Market.

I mean, seriously, I know Japan has this weird thing with girls and stuff, but to have it in the name? To have it as the complete intended purpose of the game? I see a put up here, but what do I know, I'm just making conspiracy theories.

According to Wikipedia, the game came out in 2006.

I was going to point this out, but I'm glad I didn't, because that would've betrayed the fact that I had prior knowledge of RapeLay. Which is entirely untrue.

The very idea of this game existing sickens me, but the thought that anyone would actually buy or play it is even worse.

To the people saying things along the line of "murder is okay in games but rape isn't?", don't be an idiot. With the exception of trash like Grand Theft Auto, games where you're killing people usually involve them trying to kill you. Don't draw comparisons between simulated enemy combatants and simulated rape victims. First off, the comparisons are moronic to begin with, and second I seriously doubt the game in question has a "rape or be raped" element to it.

I feel somewhat obligated to point out that most hentai---and most regular Japanese porn, for that matter---would be seen as a depiction of rape by many Westerners, whether it's labelled as such or not, because the women appear to be less eager than in non-Japanese porn. By which I mean that the concept of this game has existed for decades. They just finally decided to slap on a title containing the word "rape" and now people are taking issue.

Besides shock at this game's existence, this angers and depresses me because games like this provide fodder for all the video game haters out there. Now they can point to game like this to support their arguments, and equate them to valid games like GTA. I really wish this game was never made.

Unfortunately, now that the issue is a political one, it's not as simple as picking a side... everyone's bound to find something offensive in a video game, be it extreme violence or rape. I have the feeling this particular issue will become a much bigger deal than violence in the US, UK, and other similar countries, based on past objections to "sexual content" in video games.

True, it is weird that we can all play games about mass murder and not feel any guilt. Maybe it's down the way death inevitably cathes up with everyone, or the constant bombardment of it in every other media as well as games, we just seem to be more tolerant of killing.

I can't really explain it but I don't think that one can be used to justify the other. Rape is quite a bit more personal than mowing down 200 generic baddies.

This is one of the few situations where I wouldn't blame people to up in about arms about video games. The fact that this game excists at all is pretty desturbing.

I think people should never be in arms about a videogame unless it sends out a robot in RL that actually does morally reprehensible things, or it's at the ESRB for rating it too lightly.

I don't see what the big deal is. It's just a game. I told everyone i knew about this and everyone laughed, even the ones that have actually been raped. And you just have to love the Japanese. They have some huge metaphorical balls.
