I'm going to be a conspiracy theorist right now and say that Isn't it a coincidence that these guys accused of there being rape in video games and then a year later, you know, THE AMOUNT OF TIME THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY TAKES TO MAKE A MODESTLY PLAYABLE VIDEO GAME, this game appears on the market?

I'm gonna say that this was a put up. "There's rape in video games!" "Uh sir, we have an inventory of the mainstream game industry here, and there is none..." "Then we'll have to COMMISSION someone to make one..." Vaz's guys go to Japan, commission someone to make the game, then pay (or have that company pay) Amazon to advertise it in Western Market.

I mean, seriously, I know Japan has this weird thing with girls and stuff, but to have it in the name? To have it as the complete intended purpose of the game? I see a put up here, but what do I know, I'm just making conspiracy theories.
According to Wikipedia, the game came out in 2006.
I was going to point this out, but I'm glad I didn't, because that would've betrayed the fact that I had prior knowledge of RapeLay. Which is entirely untrue.

Phew... close one, me.

Aaaaaalso...

The very idea of this game existing sickens me, but the thought that anyone would actually buy or play it is even worse.

To the people saying things along the line of "murder is okay in games but rape isn't?", don't be an idiot. With the exception of trash like Grand Theft Auto, games where you're killing people usually involve them trying to kill you. Don't draw comparisons between simulated enemy combatants and simulated rape victims. First off, the comparisons are moronic to begin with, and second I seriously doubt the game in question has a "rape or be raped" element to it.
I feel somewhat obligated to point out that most hentai---and most regular Japanese porn, for that matter---would be seen as a depiction of rape by many Westerners, whether it's labelled as such or not, because the women appear to be less eager than in non-Japanese porn. By which I mean that the concept of this game has existed for decades. They just finally decided to slap on a title containing the word "rape" and now people are taking issue.

That's fucking horrible. That's the worst game I have ever heard of, how can the Japanese really make these things?

Besides shock at this game's existence, this angers and depresses me because games like this provide fodder for all the video game haters out there. Now they can point to game like this to support their arguments, and equate them to valid games like GTA. I really wish this game was never made.

In America, most rape is male on female and most of the intergender violence is also male to female. Does Japan have this problem? If so, this seems like a sure fire way to normalize this kind of violence.

Screw that, the human race is doomed. It always amazed me, but now I'm off to mars. Anybody else coming?
Sure. Maybe we should call Dr. Manhattan and ask him to take us there.:)
Ive heard of this game before and...ew, just ew.
P.S: At least it has better graphics than Custar's Revenge.

I am truly, truly fighting with the temptation to ask you how you know that.

But you might get banned.

How?

It won't be an official English version though (as the game was never designed to be sold outside Japan), they'll be fan made translation mods.

I love how some of you are acting like this is the first or only game to feature rape. It's definitely not, there are some messed up things out there. I also think its slightly hypocritical to be against this game and then defend the content of like GTA or other violent and abusive games. Games as art with free expression, or games that promote good values? We're at war people, pick a side!

Unfortunately, now that the issue is a political one, it's not as simple as picking a side... everyone's bound to find something offensive in a video game, be it extreme violence or rape. I have the feeling this particular issue will become a much bigger deal than violence in the US, UK, and other similar countries, based on past objections to "sexual content" in video games.

RapeLay is infamous. If you've ever ben to /b/, there is a chance you've heard of this game. I thought everyone already knew about it, and to not, ya' know, sell it anywhere but on porn sites.

I know it's good to have Japan around for some good laughs every now and then, but seriously WTF?

I'm really concerned about these people. It looks like the whole population is a gang of retarded, demoralised children, like there is noone there to say "You're into that shit? Get away from me you freak!". Call me a xenophobe, but that's how I see it. And it's not only rape that's disturbing. I bet my ass (oh wait, I don't have to, it's on the box) that the victims look like elementary school girls with giantic tits.
It's wrong, it's wroooong!
Who cares? I honestly don't see why people care what your fetishes are and what you look at to satisfy them. It's not like it's a droid that you put on the streets in real life to rape people. It's a videogame, better to live out your fantasies like that instead of the real deal.

I fear furries(and I consider anyone furry if they like more than a chick going"meow" or wearing cat ears) but as long as they keep it on their laptop and with each other I don't give a flying fuck.....
What I mean is that since this game, hentai, tentacle rape etc. are fucking mainstream that means their society is in really bad shape, even if just a tiny precent of Japaneese are into rape or pedophilia (and for me hentai is pedhophilia and I don't care if the character is "supposed to be 20" if she looks like 10 year old) they shouldn't be so passive about it and ban it themselves before that crap reaches west.
No, nothing should ever be banned for such reasons. Also, no it doesn't mean they're in really bad shape. It means they're more or less ok with sexual fetishes and either more of them have fetishes than us or a lot of us have fetishes we won't admit..
might get this game just so I can judge people's reactions when they see/play it. If they're immediately revolted, they're Good People. If they start getting all into the raping and turn around an hour later - "Oh, you're still here?" - then they are Bad People, and I will kick and swear at them.
Just because of what they like? They're bad people if they go"ok I'm gonna go get laid" and proceeds to rape someone in RL. What you do in a videogame could never make you a bad person.

And we consider games where killing a shitload of random and usually more or less innocent people as norm too, and so what?

It's not scary, games like this existed for years and years now.
True, it is weird that we can all play games about mass murder and not feel any guilt. Maybe it's down the way death inevitably cathes up with everyone, or the constant bombardment of it in every other media as well as games, we just seem to be more tolerant of killing.

I can't really explain it but I don't think that one can be used to justify the other. Rape is quite a bit more personal than mowing down 200 generic baddies.
It's because virtual sex is still sex, while virtual violence isn't violence.

It's the same reason that when you watch a martial arts move you don't say you were watching two people fight, you were watching two people act, while when you watch pornography, you feel that you're actually watching sex, and that what they're doing isn't exactly 'acting'.
So I'm not a virgin because of that minigame is God of war?

Yea, because those were real people actually having sex. Not real people, not real.

This is one of the few situations where I wouldn't blame people to up in about arms about video games. The fact that this game excists at all is pretty desturbing.
I think people should never be in arms about a videogame unless it sends out a robot in RL that actually does morally reprehensible things, or it's at the ESRB for rating it too lightly.

Meh, it's only a game, contrary to popular belief, people can differentiate between games and reality.
Yeah it's sick, but people do have these types of thoughts and games like these help them release in a safe environment instead of on real people.
Thank you, you are a god of logic.

I don't see what the big deal is. It's just a game. I told everyone i knew about this and everyone laughed, even the ones that have actually been raped. And you just have to love the Japanese. They have some huge metaphorical balls.
I'm glad someone has balls.

I'm afraid I don't give a damn about all the idiots winning about it. Have a value jet fall on your face and shut up already.

10 years ago games were EVIL BECAUSE THEY WERE MURDER SIMULATORS!

Then they were PERVERTING OUR YOUTH!

Now they are RAPE SIMULATORS PERVERTING OUR YOUTH!

Starting to see a pattern?

Oh and, if you're a gamer and are complaining about this game, you're also a hypocrite. What? Murdering thousands in cold blood is fine and peachy but rape is just out of bounds? Yeah...
