"Rape Game" On Amazon Triggers Anger, Outrage

Wow before reading this thread i knew that japan was one screwed up place, but this....thats considerably...wierd, to make an understatement.

I think i'm going to go convince america it needs to finish the job with maybe 5 or 6 more nukes. We just need to make sure to send an email to japan telling all the none screwed up people to take a holiday for a day or two.

Hey, there's a manga series called "The Rapeman" [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rapeman] (if it hasn't already been said). God knows why he didn't find out about that sooner before.

But I can't blame him for jumping the gun on this game, afterall it's a game where you RAPE WOMEN. According to him, that's what you can do in games, and unfortunately there are games like that (just like there are unfortunately websites, shows, and books like that), so of course he's going to gnaw on this bone as much as he can.

I always felt apathetic towards the enemies in Manhunt as they signed up for a large cash sum to try and kill you, and they are not a crying 10-year old girl. I still think this game is worse, not a grand scale like some people are saying, but it is worse.

Okay, I'm full-on honest by saying that:

1) I've played this game

2) I easily obtained it from the internet, and did so A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO (so the game is not new... trying to sell it on Amazon is new - and stupid beyond boundaries)

Is it wrong to feature rape in a game? Well, it obviously depends on the cultural background... However, if you are going to flame this 'rape game', then you, by logic, should also flame FPS and any other violence, drug or politically-incorrect game (that includes GTA, fanboys...). I say this because they all feature acts that contradict "common sense", so to speak. So if your against rape, then you are against discharging hole clips of AK-47s on civilians (a GTA option), or running over people (yet another GTA option, hmm...).


EDIT: Just because Rapelay shows the rape victims crying, it doesn't mean it is any more 'evil' than shooting people in the head with bazookas... hypocrisy is so flawed...

Since Keith Vaz is an MP, we can write to him and at least try to explain that amazon can't control what their sellers sell immediately and that this game was never meant to be released outside of Japan, who are a completely different culture and thus have their own taboos.

It should, of course, be written in proper English and be civil, none of this "Lol u suxxors and are so bad lol".

Hopefully he'll get shot down soon enough. I mean, it only takes 5 mins to find out that:
1. The game was being sold by an individual and not by any retailers and
2. The game would never be released outside Japan commercially and could only ever be bought by those who, you know, LOOK for this kind of thing, and it's really those people you should be looking to ban from life anyway.

In God of War you can violently murder people who are just trying to run away from having their houses burnt to the ground... In Fallout 3 you can enslave innocent people or just send their heads flying Jackson Pollock style just because they had the audacity of being nice... Rampage entire towns and mutilate bodies... In Hitman you can assassinate innocent people who are just going about their business so you can kill your real target... Dead, just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time...

...Again, nothing special here.

Simple answer? You're not committing murder in games. Murder is a 'rational' act where you stalk a victim and watch as their life is ended. Quake etc. is completely unrealistic because you're a passive observer watching one set of pixels explode on contact with another set of pixels.

Now if you're choking a character to death that you actually knew and could feel them gasping for breath and begging you not to kill them, then I'd concede the point. Especially as that made me feel nauseous just writing that.

Honestly, I'm not surprised. Anyone who knows a decent amount about Japan could tell you: Rape is considered pretty "normal" in the hentai industry, games or otherwise. I'm certainly not into it by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a very popular sexual fetish there.

But really...If Keith Vaz finds THIS shocking and disturbing, he should really look into some of the other popular hentai fetishes Japan has...They make rape, incest, and graphic images of 14 year old anime schoolgirls with breasts big enough to sink the Yamato look almost normal. The concept behind this game is actually pretty tame compared to some hentai in Japan...They make shit that would make the average pedophile say "WTF Japan?"

No offense to any Japanese here, but your hentai industry produces some really, really fucked up shit. It is pretty bad when I would consider rape fetishes to be pretty "tame" compared to some hentai.

Agreed, and I think ALL of hentai media should be in it's own category, not to be confused with regular gaming, anime, etc.
