Recommend Me A Final Fantasy Game

OK I am looking to get into the final fantasy series. I own a Super Nintendo, a Playstation 2, a gameboy advance, and a nintendo gamecube. To the best of my knowledge, there is a final fantasy game on all of these systems.

I also have an Xbox 360, but I don't think anyone will be able to recommend FFXIII yet.

Discuss and help me out please.

I have FF12, it's pretty good.

It's really long, so it should last you a good while.

The thing about FF games though is that they can get REALLY repetitive, as with all RPGs.

This is personal opinion so I would suggest ffI+II dawn of souls for the gba(would be really hard to find though) and FFX for the ps2 which was amazing in my opinion and if you liked that you might like FFX-2 but a lot of people didn't.

I thought everyone would be saying 7 (which is good).
I recommend 9, I've heard a lot of good things about it but have never gotten a chance to play it myself (I can't find it :'[)

I was entertaining the idea of FF6. It looked the most appealing to all of my other options. I just want the opinion of the members of the escapist, because I feel you all know what you are talking about.

I think they peaked with VII and VIII. IX is pretty good too, but I'm not crazy about X and on because you can't roam the map as freely.

FF6 and 7 are both fantastic choices, you should play both at some point. Either one is a good starting point, it just depends if you want 3d and futuristic or 2d and steampunkish.

Final Fantasy 4 for the Super Nintendo.

The DS remake is also quite good.

My personal preference of the ones I've played goes:
FF VII
FF IX
FF X
FF VI
FF VIII

So those in that order would be my advice I guess.

It has an interesting story, a diverse cast of mostly(not Zell) likeable characters and is waaaaaay cheaper than Final Fantasy 7 on ebay

final Fantasy 1. II was also interesting, but I didn't like the art design.
