I can hardly wait, I wonder what spells they remove this time, ooh, I'll bet they'll make light and heavy armour the same skill as well. And you know what? Why not toss all the spells into a single "Spellcasting" skill rather than mucking about with different categories?
Ooh, and maybe remove interior doors so you have loading screens between every door, that'd be awesome.

...

This was sarcasm meant to indicate my unhappiness regarding the technical modifications made from Morrowind to Oblivion, people that have played both will know what I'm talking about.

I can't really speak for them, but so far, I've seen Bethesda pretty much do whatever the hell they want in their games, even if people on the forums want or get confused by this or that. If Bethesda is going to set the game 200 years in the future and have muskets or steampunk, then it's gonna be in no matter what we say!

However, surely after 200 years, at least one person should have figured out how to use Fire Salts to blow crap up. Either that or some guy figured out how to restore Dwemer tech. Or a few mages brought back the wisdom of the ancients.
Damn. I guess that would be like a Renaissance, wouldn't it?

Either that, or after the Oblivion crisis, the Empire, being left without a ruler, simply collapses, bringing forth the Dark Ages and a true feudal era and people would be more concerned about looking out for themselves rather than stuff like technology. So many possibilities...

Umm...Bioshock much? I would think that if you really like steampunk, then you would have already came oceans playing that...

Jesus. That's a really long time.

The Nerevarine and the Champion will be long dead by then... sad face...
The Nerevarine was rendered immortal, so he could still be around. Unless he dies in some epic battle like the Snow Prince.
But yeah, Champion does is be well deadified.

As far as the technology goes, Tamriel has been at the same technological level since the destruction of the Ayleids which happened WELL before TESIV, didn't it?
Lest you forget, the Champion's immortal too on account of having achieved apotheosis as a Daedric Prince.
quite correct sir, i remembered this after posting.

also i checked the timeline: swords and spells for millenia; i think tamriel is safe from an industrial revolution, other than occasional visits from master chief.

Erm, my Morrowind and earlier is alittle rusty - the Nerevarine is the leader of the Drow Elves on Morrowind outside of the Empires control at the end of the game, right?

Who is the Champion?

NO. No no no.

This a very bad idea. Elder scrolls does not need guns that is Fallout's niche not ES.

EDIT: for clarity. I believe that with that type of year gap they can't help but bring guns and shit into it and that is not good
The OP didn't say anything about guns. And besides, in a world full of magic, old style guns would seem alittle pointless.
why then use bows??
\
oh and ever played fable 2? it works trust me
Yes on Fable 2, and true about the bows. But bare in mind early firearms where worse than bows - a trained longbow man could shoot 3 times faster than a gunner and over a longer range. Add to that magic, and I don't see a natural evolution path for firearms. As for Fable 2, only the Hero has magic powers (And the artifacts Lord Lucien has), and so 99.9% of Aion have never even seen magic by that point.

Oblivion with guns! :D
You mean Fallout 3?
In morrowind the Dwarfs already had masses of steam machinery, in Oblivion they just had some empty stone corridors.....
Screw you, pal. Fallout 3 is not Oblivion with guns. Just because it used the same engine, doesn't mean it's the same. Big fat middle finger to you.
Ooooo touched a nerve there...
From what I experianced it was pretty much the same, hence why I could'nt play it for more than 10 hours without serial bordom encroaching.

And I aint your Pal friend :0
Of course it touched a nerve. As a fan of both Oblivion and Fallout I know that they are two seperate entities and should not be compared. And if you just played it for 10 hours, you haven't seen most of it yet.

I also ain't your friend, buddy!

I'd just like to have the entire continent of Tamriel open to gameplay. maybe even a bit of multiplayer Saints Row 2 style. Not askin for an MMO, just some coordinated dungeon looting.

200 years is roughly the time people went from riding horses to landing on the moon.

You can do a whole hell of a lot in 200 years.

Maybe set it up sorta like the races from Rise of Legends, have one race following technological advances, akin to the Vinci, and a race of magic users like the Alin. The player can choose between either these two or maybe throw in some more options, maybe even a sort of freelance option, surviving off what you can find in the ruins of forts and by killing the patrols of the other factions.

Im confused by this strange leap of logic some people are doing in assuming there will be guns and more modern technology in an elder scrolls set 200 years after oblivion.

Its a Tolkeinesk fantasy setting,ie its time locked permanently in the middle ages. I just had a look on the TES wiki and the events in the main quest in Morrowind occur 3544 years after the historic events which pave the way for the games main story arc(those who have played it will know what im refering to),the technology is,as far as i can tell exactly the same.

Infact the Dunmer dont even make an effort to utilise the technology the Dwemer leave behind. In short i would be surprised if they incorporate any steampunk elements in TES5 at all.and upset.

I couldn't care less about the time period, but Bethesda better apologize to those Argonian players they stabbed in the back with Oblivion.

But 200 years is quite a big leap, considering Morrowind and Oblivion were only about 20 odd years apart

I liked Oblivions argonians more than morrowinds. The water breathing was actually worth while

The ridiculous posture, they bizarre feet and hands, the pug faces. Aside from just being cosmetically inferior, Bethesda saw fit to take out spears, the weapons Argonians were geared to, along with medium armor and throwing weapons, which Argonians were also better aimed to than bows and whatnot. What breathing and resistance to poison was cool, but oh what I'd give to have Morrowind's Argonians again.

Actually, in Tribunal/Morrowind, it's shown that Sortha Sil (sp?) had expanded on Dwemer technology to build a clockwork city under Mournehold, and the other members of the Tribunal knew about it. I'd like to see that come into play, with the Dunmer houses, or at least one of them, trying to rise to dominance using that technology. That, and fighting robot dinosaurs along side royal guards was awesome.
