If guns make any appearance (I hope they don't) then let it be something like the earliest form of hand cannons, that have a seemingly larger chance to explode in your face rather than firing, discouraging you from using it (Or letting noone sell or give them to you -at all- as they're too unpredictable!)

Well what if technology is like going backwards? Think about it: when the Dwemer (?) were alive they had these great big machines and explosive devices (as seen on Redguard) that would blow you to pieces! Then we are cut back to crossbows and levitation and shuriekens (as seen on Morrowind), then we are cut even further back without that stuff,as seen in Oblivion. In the early stages of the european continent, civilizations were constantly learning and forgetting different technological advancements (such as writing) due to lack of communication. What if that is what The Elder Scrolls Universe is suffering?

OT: No, if you read the Elder Scrolls history on the UESPWiki site, there will be some massive floating city or whatever that shall be terrorising Tamriel so that is what the game will probably be about, I also think that we would have no way of knowing how quick technological advancement comes for these worlds (Fable 2 and Elder Scrolls), because they are a seperate WORLD, there muskets or whatever could very much be extremely powerful due to their discovery of magic, I dunno, we should just go with it if it happens and see if it works ok.

Maybe flying mounts?

They said they were going to have mounted combat in Oblivion but nixed it due to time constraints, and Oblivion's AI was nowhere near the level of complexity that the devs promised either.

renaissance level technology, maybe even hunting Cliff Racers (to extinction) with a musket?
NO. NO.NNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I don't want TES to become a freakin' stupid repeat of FABLE.

Renaissance Guns ruin everything for me! Fable I was pretty good without twits running around with stupid muskets! Who cares about retarded guns that can barely damage you when you have golden armored knights running around with flamin' swords that will dismember you while setting you on FIRE.

[/rant]

Seriously though, if they are working on Elder Scrolls 6, let me say, it's about freaking time.

I'm with Max. Maybe people don't want to *gasp* follow humanity's history and just put you in a universe where you run around as huge armored guys with kick butt swords!

could be interesting, enough time for another world power to develop. perhaps one that can maintain its forts and castles near the capital city.

and i hope they don't put guns into it, they don't fit. who would by a gun when they can use magic

Calm down kids, there is no need to apply real world logic to technological evolution in a fantasy world. Also muskets don't really botherme, Rennaisance era tech wouldn't bother me. As long as they aren't fighting in F-16 and calling in air strikes then I'm Ok wil a little advancement. I hope the clothes and gear selection is a little more varied, if it's set in a Rennaisance like time I want the big hats with feathers, frilly sleeves, and buckled shoes.

Jesus. That's a really long time.

The Nerevarine and the Champion will be long dead by then... sad face...
The Nerevarine was rendered immortal, so he could still be around. Unless he dies in some epic battle like the Snow Prince.
But yeah, Champion does is be well deadified.

As far as the technology goes, Tamriel has been at the same technological level since the destruction of the Ayleids which happened WELL before TESIV, didn't it?

I wouldn't mind some muskets in the next Elder Scrolls.

I'm still looking for a good musket-ish mod for Morrowind.

Lest you forget, the Champion's immortal too on account of having achieved apotheosis as a Daedric Prince.

So, is Divayth Fyr still alive? Cause he was one of my favorite characters.

Also, I hope the world is larger this time, like Arena-sized. That would be sweet.
