I gotta admit, that was pretty intense. I'd forgotten how cinematic this show was! And that end... Yikes...
At first I thought he straight up decapitated her whole head, but no a slice to the neck. They could have easily went they easy way and just stabbed her in the torso but they really are not holding back this time

I really liked the second episode. The tension of the second part and beautiful cinematography of some of the sequences (like the fireflies scene), were among the things I liked the most in the original Samurai Jack.

Anyone can deliver on violence or action (specially in Adult Swim), but to deliver that kind of pacing and tension with such minimalist efforts in animation and dialogue still puts Jack above most western animation.

So what's everyone's thoughts on Baldwin's Aku?
It's passable for me, but it's missing something. Unlike his Iroh, it's audibly different from Mako's performance.

Sorry but I think its not that good.

Something is wrong when I can recreate Mako's Aku voice better than this guy.

I love how as the episode goes on more and more of his armor falls away to the point he looks like a malnourished homeless man running around in fear.

Contrast that with the light tone of Aku at the start complaining about the infallible hero.

= Amazing

Samurai "Stab teen in the spleen" Jack.

I like where this season is going. Great animated homage to "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly"/Ecstasy of Gold. Mako's replacement was passable.

To those that haven't seen the episode somehow a person uploaded the whole thing untampered with on Youtube.

So watch it before it gets copyright stiked down and hope its avaliable in your region:

Apperently everyone on youtube is just straight up uploading whole episodes of the entire series unedited.

On the next episode of Samurai Jack:

Calling it now, the one named Ashi? is gonna be spared or survives.

But holy shit is it gonna be a blood bath.

You know while the episode was fantastic my one gripe is that the dead face of the daughter that Jack killed looked too peaceful and clean, I don't know maybe have her eyes open and give her some bruises or something.

That episode was such step up from the first one. I was getting worried, but now I'm back on board.

I am very curious if the developers of the new Season connect the story with the events which happened in the comics.
Specifically the last one:

I never read the comics, but keep in mind this version of Jack is also connected with the image The Guardian saw in one of the Time Portals he had been guarding [still guarding?].

EDIT:
Ok, I was lucky and found easily a readable scan of the comic.
I must say.....if the even of the comics are connected with the new Season, it would be MUCH MORE DARK than it is now!

Just thought i'll share this gem before the next episode airs.
Now i know why sound design in this series is so good. Genndy seems psyched about it.

This has been pretty clear since first episode, where she is the only one referred to by name. The real twist would be her getting the sharp end of Jack's blade instead.

I'm glad to see the image in that last spoiler. My one minor complaint about episode 2 is that the sequences with the wolf were just far too on the nose to be useful symbolism, but if the wolf survived and will become an actual character involved in the plot, then it suddenly served an interesting purpose. Really looking forward to tonight's episode.

I am gonna say it, I hate what they have done with Aku, he used to be this intimidating and threatning villain who mabye have some funny moments, but now he's just.....ugh this is a prime example of flanderization:

I mean how the fuck has Jack not beaten this guy? And how the fuck am I gonna take the possibly inevitable final battle between Jack and Aku seriously when Aku is like this?

Whatever happened to THIS Aku:

He used to be scary, he used to be a threat, hell his whole entire origin is something right out of a lovecraftian horror story:

Holy shit this season is brutal! They're really putting their Adult Swim time to good use, aren't they? Especially the flashbacks... while it was nice to see how Jack's father was a straight-up baller badass... young Jack watching his dad kill people must have been pretty rough on the kid...
