Well, the 'scientists' were half right as far as I'm concerned. I'm depressed, but I'm sure as hell not fat. Have you ever met a fat vegetarian? There you go then.
I've met fat vegetarians. You'll put on more weight from carbohydrates than any meat source.

games let you forget about problems in our life and hopefully let you get past what might actually make you depressed.
To play the devil's advocate, escapism doesn't exactly help stop depression, it just puts it to the side for a little while.

Did they really need science to come to this conclusion?
Kind of what I was thinking to be honest, but not entirely accurate. If they are trying to say "sitting around all day playing games makes you fat compared to people who go outside most of the time" I guess the response there is "and in other news, Bobby Kotick is the devil".

I go to the gym five times a week, out every friday or saturday, and play American Football, and I abuse games. And I know I'm not in the minority...
I assume by "abuse", you mean you enjoy Platinum games, so with Japan in accounting, you might not be.

A "poll" like this does not determine whether B is the result of A or A is the result of B, and therefor has no usable conclusions. Do videogames make you depressed or do you play videogames because you are depressed?

there are a a lot of fat depressed people in society today the fact and many people who play games that leaves plenty of room for statistical coincidence but then again like all statistics this is totally pointless.

That has insulted me, and the gaming commuinty in general. In fact, those "scientists" have hurt me so much I might actually become the fat, depressed twat you think I am.

WELL DONE "SCIENTISTS", you're "conclusive and realistic" results have made me what you think I am.

I can't help but think this research is somehow advocating LARPing.
.........Dear GOD NO!
Course that would get my exercise level up. Chasing larpers through the woods with a paintball gun.

But then we would get a BS study about how LARP disconnects people from reality.

I highly doubt there's any correlation between being fat and depressed and being a gamer. Hell, the majority of my friends who play games... are neither fat, NOR depressed.

Well I'm at my top physical condition for some one my size without the use of performance enhancers, I'm a very happy and jolly person with a dark, sinister yet somewhat cute and quirky sense of humour and I haven't lost a fight yet so I'd say I'm a winner.

So internet usage and depression are related and a sedentary hobby leads to a less healthy form. Why is this hard to accept?

Well, I play depressed because I am video games.
