Almost wasn't still a thing. There was a 6 month gap between round 80 and 81 here. You feel like joining for old time's sake? While it's too late to have you join the game proper I can make you an NPC. You have seen friends die in the vault before, many from suicide due to the sheer boredom and despair of living underground. You miss them.
But this. This was no suicide. This was murder.
And what is worse, it happened to Shoggoth2588. You choke back tears at the thought. How could he be taken so soon. You didn't want to admit it, but he was your hero. Your inspiration. You thought that if anyone could make it on the surface to survive it was him.
Dejected, you mope out into the barren wasteland. Not even caring if you get lost.
Time becomes meaningless as you travel in a daze from the safety of your vault. Until you hear the grinding of machinery above you. Somehow you have found yourself in a canyon. A giant robot throws a large box from above you.
The box clatters into the earth with a dull thud, it's label reading:

"Guys can we please start focusing." I said to them as I put my foot down. "As long as I live we are not burning our suppliBANG" suddenly I felt the bullet start to penetrate my brain. As I knew this was the end I contemplated all the atrocities I committed, all the horrible things that I survived my last thought was. "Really? is this really what does me in? porn mags?" and with that my body fell to the floor. They then they set my body on fire and throw all the porno mags and supplies on my burning corpse.
