But I've a friend who's a registered sex offender because she sent her boyfriend a picture of her tits while a cop had him pulled over while she was under age and so was he. Ruining a number of potential prospects of a kids life for having sexual desires when flooded with hormones is incredibly over the top and unnecessary.

Eh. It's a fun little time pass, now and again, when there's distance or if one of your friends' old friends is in town, and they're both a little buzzed and horny, and you get a "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" game going with them. Those are fun. But the passing back and forth of erotic texts is nothing more than guided masturbation, at best. Which isn't to say that it's not fun in itself, but usually it just leaves you horny, waiting for what you can get.
Back in my middle school days you had to go out with a girl for a week before you got a glimpse, now all I have to do is text someone for 45 minutes, its easier but it takes away the challenge.
I'd feel awkward texting dirty things to my girlfriend... Same goes for phone sex or "dirty talk". It feels so staged and fake.

If you take a photo of yourself naked, you better accept that everyone around you is going to know what you look like naked. It will get leaked, it will be shown to others.
You know, this thread and everything else involved with sexting is stupid and offensive, This is clearly an intimate act between two people, and nobody but them has any right to comment or have an opinion on it. God damn it, I mean If I want to send my GF pictures of my Wang or vice versa then Im pretty sure unless you are my wang or my GF then its none of your goddamn business.

If you're dumb enough to send things you know are against the law through something that is monitored, you deserve the punishment.
Since my mobile can not send or receive photos ( aka my phone provider SUCKS BALLS!) I could not do it even if I wanted to.
I find it a bit weird but to each their own. also many people I know who do send erotic messages and pictures are all of age. so there is no real concern about being a paedophile.
