Eh. Even the most beautiful turd in the world is technically a piece of shit. The first movie I gave a passing grade but just barely. The second one was so god awful it took all of my will power to finish. I think it was mainly to see how much worse it could get and boy did it ever get worse.

I love Shia and I don't mind the first Transformers movie, so I will be going to this movie.

Will I enjoy it?

Probably when I'm there. But I hope I can actually take something away from it.

I was just thinking that the Transformer movies would've been better with less humans too.
Especially that twitchy one the camera focuses on all the time.

Yeah who gives a crap about those silly robots after all.
Hey I happen to love the robots. I hated the films but I grew up on Transformers themselves.

OT: This... Is... WONDERFUL... HOORAY!

You know... "Dark of the Moon" as a title doesn't make sense. I mean, it's not even a phrase. And if it is, there are a million smarter ways to say the same thing. Goddammit, Bay.
OT: YAY! The franchise is falling apart! This means there's finally room for improvement!

I never understood all the criticism for Bay's Transformers. I never watched it as a kid, so I'm not blinded by nostalgia. Sure, it was shallow, and there was nothing to it, but its an action movie. I didn't watch it expecting the Godfather, or Kill Bill, or anything particularly groundbreaking. It was an average film, sure, but that level or average doesn't correlate with the incredible level of hatred it seemed to inspire in people.
It never hit the expectations of a bunch of rabid fanboys who were expecting something good from an adaptation of a cartoon about robots beating the shit out of each other, which in turn was an adaptation of a toy line about robots beating the shit out of each other. I hear a lot of complaints about how it's "brainless" and "stupid". What the fuck were these people expecting, Citizen Kane with Optimus Prime!?

There are still legitimate criticisms about the movie but I hardly think Shia Labeouf is one of them, other than getting too much screen time. His acting isn't that bad, and he (so far) doesn't seem like a bad fellow so what gives? Why hate him?
Maybe a bit of jealousy? Fans of the series wish it was them in that role?

I have no idea. Its just the first thing that comes to mind. He isn't particularly bad, he just seems to get roles in films that fans hate (Transformers, he was in Crystal Skull I think too.)

So yeh... hatred by association, or hatred out of jealousy? I dont know.
It's jealousy alright, but not the one you think.
The transformer fans wanted a transformer movie. Instead Bay makes Shia's character hog all the screen time.
The last two movies weren't about Transformers, they were about Shia's character doing side-character stuff while robots fought in the back ground.

Imagine if you will, they made Starwars but instead of Luke Skywalker as main character, the entire movie just stays focused on C3PO. The plot would develop the same way, except all the awesome scenes are in the background because C3PO is hiding and he is the focus.

Cool: Maybe Transformers-the-fourth will be the one which blasts this trilogy out of cannon.

Or maybe the next Transformers will be a prequel ie: Beast Wars. No humans whatsoever in that series from what I remember.
They already made a Transformers sequel. It was called Indian Jones and the something of Crystal Skulls and Transforming spaceships. I couldn't figure out how Witwicki somehow traveled back in time but it was obvious that LaBeouf was playing the same character.

He said that it "took what was good about the first movie and used that, while fixing what was bad in the second."
Is he implying that there wasn't any bad in the first?

OT: With LeBeouf and Bay probably out of the picture, I propose that we have a reboot, directed by Christopher Nolan.

Transformers 1986 over the 3 new movies any day of the week. If you haven't seen the old movie it's on youtube in HD.

The second movie really tossed me off the whole 'New Transformers movies are cool" when they decided to go, OK Devastator is now a giant dog/beast thing. I want Bay dead for that since Devastator is my favorite Decepticon. Don't change the appearance of the robots dammit. *Angry sigh*.

Good to hear. Now, can we actually have a main character that suits the title? As in, you know.. a transformer being the main focus of the film, and not the human that was a side-character in the cartoon and the old movies?

..Please?

The actors says that his last Transformers movie is also his best.
Of course it will be his best - it's the last one!

Hahaha... nicely done.

I am glad to see all the LaBeouf hate. I despise him, not because he's a bad actor, but because he comes off as an annoying pussy and yet they give him roles in which he's supposed to be a badass (Indiana Jones' son? REALLY?!?). Make a Transformers movie without him in it and maybe I'll watch it.

LOL at all the crybabies whining how Bay ruined "their" franchise by making 2 (now 3) massively popular films. "Ooooh, now the normies are watching... that's not fair!"

Whether you like the new movies or not, the fact is that the G1 cartoon sucked. Nothing has been ruined except your rose-tinted nostalgia glasses.

Question: did he remember to take out Michael Bay's heart before he left? If he didn't, then the monster will rise with new cast and the world shall quake at it terror(ibleness)...

His best movie yet? It's hard to compare a pile of crap when your only other comparisons are also piles of crap.

You should consider watching more Transformers if you think that's all there is to it. The thing about Transformers - even in the cheesey G1 days - is that they're characters. They generally have personalities, especially in later series. Transformers Animated was especially great for capturing what was liked about G1 while focusing more on a smaller cast of characters and fleshing them out pretty excellently. People still get a little torn up about Dinobot's sacrifice in Beast Wars. There's a lot to like there that you're not giving any thought to. I'm not saying it's Shakespeare, but it's a hell of a lot more than shakycam Army porn with the occasional robot in the background. Fans hated that what they got only superficially resembled what they had grown up with and loved.

It's like someone made a Legend of Zelda movie starring Larry the Cable Guy as a truck driver in green named Link who rides off in his big rig named Epona to go save a hooker named Zelda, and on the way hits a pig crossing the road. Turns out it was from Ganon farm. Larry buries it and manages to win Zelda back in an arm wrestling competition, roll credits.

Would you be satisfied?
