Normally you can't drop quest items anywhere
The game is random about this. Once I found out that regular merchants won't buy stolen items, I dropped all of those in the general store in Whiterun. It's still there. Weeks later (ingame). Every I go in there I have to chuckle. There's this ocean of pots and kettles I have to climb over to get to the merchant.
Get to the Thieves Guild to relieve yourself of hot items ;)

I have one problem at the moment, I wonder if anyone else is having the same. My enemies don't seem to respawn. It's fairly easy to tell if I have been on a certain path before because of the corpses littered over the roads and forest. At least they don't stand up like statues as they did in Oblivion, but this is puzzling me. I have played something like 25 hours, don't know how many in game days that is and I still ran into those wolves I killed after I exited Helgen. The bandit spot near Whiterun is littered with half naked outlaws. Am I supposed to give a burial or something :)

EDIT
Just loaded my save, I have played 42 hours. I do hope those enemies will start respawning soon...

1. How do you parry when your other hand is occupied? For instance, I have a sword in my right hand and a spell in my left. How do I parry with my sword? Likewise, how do I parry when I'm dual wielding? If the answer is "You don't!", that's just retarded...

2. Assuming that I can't parry unless I have a 2H weapon or a Shield, is there any benefit to using a single 1H weapon? Any at all? Also, is dual wielding worth it? I know I can attack with both weapons at once, but it seems a bit... gimmicky to me. Wouldn't I be better of with a 2H weapon which would let me block attacks as well?

3. Is there any point in using elements other than fire? Lightning and frost cost me more magicka for the same damage, and I don't see any effect that draining the enemy's stamina might have...

Whenever I try to put baskets or buckets on someones head first of all the object flies away like it's lighter than air, secondly if I do finally manage to get a basket on someone's head the first small movement they do makes it fly off. Is that just a PC physics issue?

Also regarding the giants, it seems that everyone wants a big brother giant friend, but they are all meanies. Wonder if we'll ever find out what pissed them off so much?

First of all dont put buckets, on there heads its mean! (and game breaking)

Also the giant have been hit in the nuts to many times, and now there angry at all the little people.
No idea why, but if you do get a giant friend (pun intended) they could not follow you into caves and cities, so it would be rather game breaking (Again).

How do you buy a house? I can't figure it out...
Make friends with the Jarl, do a bunch of quests for him, then talk to his advisor, or him, and buy the house.

Then you can purchase things for your house.

And no, you can't store everything in every little box and crate you find, like Oblivion.
Is there at least a giant pit I can fill with gold and loot? I want to dive in like Scrooge McDuck.
Hmm....

If such a pit does not exist in-game then..... a mod.... the one they fear.... in their tongue, it is DovaPit.... DRAGONPOOL.
.....

Gimme a sec while I pour everything into my house at white run....
I love the loft.

Well, Frost slows down enemies, which is very useful when melee enemies are coming at you like a freight train. Not sure about lighting, i know it drains stamina but it's not very useful imo, much less useful than frost anyways.

Lighting drains mana, it says so RIGHT IN THE DISCRIPTION. And by draining stamina if you attack them you can make them stagger more.

But..... Sadly i agree fire is by far the most usful.

Here's a question.

In Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, you could pick up items and carry them to replace them.
Not going to your inventory but just float in front of you.

How do you do that on the Xbox360 version?

Can't seem to find the button.
Hold down A, took me a while to figure it out on accident. I was listening to an NPC while I was looting and forgot to let go of the button and bam, "why didn't that go into my inventory, what did I... oh now I feel like an idiot"

Everyone needs to go to the College of Winterhold, and then pass it. Keep going north and find an island. Talk to the crazy dude inside. Have fun with your new five hour long quest.

Also, I found a goat walking on the bottom of the ocean :p

How do companions follow you if you ride a horse?

I dont really understand magic. The game seems to want you to use some, but unless you focus on your magicka score you're going to struggle to use decent spells as you won't have the energy (the description of the spell when you browse a vendor selling spell tomes doesn't say how much the spell costs to cast). I think that physical combat oriented characters are just going to struggle. I came across a foresworn ice mage that could kill me with frost attacks in one hit! THe rest of her allies were nowhere near as powerful!

Is there any point buying a house for 5000gold?
With magic its best you focus all your perks into 1 field (Destruction or Conjuration) and all your levels into magicka with some health. As you level up spells become cheaper and as you get perks spells become more powerful aswell as cheaper. But as a mage you are going to die.... and die.... and die.... Until about lvl 20, then you rape all face. Its rather oddd.

With companions if you lose them simply 'Wait' an hour or so and the spawn at you, and you will lose them, wether you are on a horse or not.

With the house, its a place for storage and some of your companions will wait for you in them, other then that, they are not really worth it. In fact gold is not really worth it; all the best items (with the exlution of low lvl armor) you find anyways. The only thing you really spend money on is spells (or buying houses), but that is only relevent if you cast em.

I returned the lexicon to him after transcribing it. The quest line says that he'll contact me when he's found anything. How long do I have to wait?

I don't remember waiting too long, try 24 hours.

1. Is it possible to leave or get expelled from The Companions? I joined them recently but I want to leave.^^ Do you need to commit a crime against them like in Oblivion with the Fighter's Guild?

2. Several times when I have assaulted someone in a city the guards attack me without attempting to arrest me first. Wtf is up with that? Don't I have to option to choose jail time or fees anymore? Or do I need to tell them "I yield" or something?

3. I know this has been asked allready but does anyone know where to find illusions spells such as invisibility? I can only find fury, calm, courage spells etc.

How do you hot key on a console? I imagine I would just highlight the item and press an arrow on the d-pad, right?

If your offhand is occupied with a weapon or spell, you can't block or counter. Sorry

If you are using a 2Hander or just a single one hander. You can block by pressing the key for the "empty" hand and you can push forward by blocking and then pressing attack while holding block. This seems to stagger enemies, especially if you time it so that your push hits them while they are attacking. Kind of like a counter. I can't verify this though, it's just how I experienced it when I tried 2handing. I favor the shield and it's mighty bash.

You can hotkey from the favourites popup by holding the dpad. You can't seem to do it from the main item menu.

Somewhat bumping this because I'd also like to know as well, invisibility was my favourite spell in Oblivion.

Quick question, does skyrim have a large city?

None of them are big, compared to vivec in morrowind or the imperial city in oblivion ... the ones I have found are villages at most

Lightening drains magicka like a son of a beach!

No not really, they are all the sizes of small towns or smaller.... One of them looks like a wee little fishing village.

I had two left to explore but I wont waste my time now, I was hoping one would be huge so there would be like 10 traders all really close to each other.

Instead I have to instant transmission my ass all over skyrim looking for traders, who all seem to be really broke!
