If you can figure out anything to complete before Byrgenwerth, I'd definitely look into doing that instead. If there's any npcs you know about that you haven't saved, do it before completing Byrgenwerth. It's the point of no return for stuff like that.Spacewolf said:Think I may have unlocked the fourth headstone quite early on, I've just defeated the Shadows before going back to Cathedral Ward where the NPCs gave me the Tonsil Stone. Even with the music box I haven't been able to beat Gascoigne on my own. As soon as he turns he just becomes crazy hard.Phasmal said:Had another little go, turns out second time was the charm with the second boss. Honestly, I wouldn't be too bothered by missing a few things on your first playthrough. It's extremely easy to do it, and you can always make sure to do everything "perfectly" on a second character or NG+. For example, Eileena questline is kinda finicky and very easy to fuck up (some people think it's actually bugged).Phasmal said:Fappy said:You beat Daddy G in two tries? Your post made me a lot happier about it, actually. I thought I wasn't doing too well, considering my boyfriend beat the first two bosses in the same life on his first try. He is `That Guy` when it comes to these types of games.
I've still not managed to have a good crack at the game, but I've just gotten to Old Yharnam- though I've been told (by `That Guy`) that I did something which means I can't get a certain gesture, so I may have to restart. I'll probably do that tomorrow. Oh well, nothing like karate-chopping a werewolf to death to start your day off.
Oh yeah, she pisses me off. I'm freaking on point with her quests in NG+, though. I'm pretty sure she just freaking disappeared for me early on, and long before I did anything in NG that seemed like an irreversible change in the world. Also on point with NPCs this time. I screwed myself over with them last game and couldn't get dat secret ending. I would have been fine too had I not been too early in visiting a certain other NPC (tiptoeing around spoilers is bleughhhh).Fappy said:For example, Eileena questline is kinda finicky and very easy to fuck up (some people think it's actually bugged).
Yeah, I gave it a high priority on my second character and managed to complete it. I had to cheese the final hunter because he's a cheating ****, lol. Harder than any boss in the game.Solaire of Astora said:Oh yeah, she pisses me off. I'm freaking on point with her quests in NG+, though. I honestly doubt it's really horribly bugged. I've done her whole questline up to the last part without problems in NG+. You just have to get on it pretty much immediately.
I think I'm good to go on the Eileena questline, but the guy who shoots you in Old Yharnam apparently will give you a gesture if you do a set of events that means you can talk to him without him being hostile, and I kind of already killed him.Fappy said:Honestly, I wouldn't be too bothered by missing a few things on your first playthrough. Also, your boyfriend sounds like a prodigy, lol. My first three hours of BB were fucking brutal XD
Then again, I did kill a majority of the late game bosses on my first attempt, so maybe I just didn't adjust as quickly as you two.
Phasmal said:I have never actually talked to him. Didn't even know you could until I already killed him on my second character, lol. As far as I know you have to do a number of weird things that are very difficult (or grindy) in order to pull it off, but there may be a simpler way I don't know about. Also, get used to cheesing NPC hunters, lol. They don't play by the rules so you shouldn't either!Fappy said:I think I'm good to go on the Eileena questline, but the guy who shoots you in Old Yharnam apparently will give you a gesture if you do a set of events that means you can talk to him without him being hostile, and I kind of already killed him.Phasmal said:Honestly, I wouldn't be too bothered by missing a few things on your first playthrough. I might just do it in NG+, because it's going rather well for me at the moment, even though I know the difficulty is gonna hit me at some point. I do struggle with the hostile NPCs that act more like players.
Not had any actual PVP though, so far.
I think everyone I've come across is either saved or dead so there's that. The woman in Cathedral Ward disappeared though and I'm not sure what happened to her.Solaire of Astora said:If you can figure out anything to complete before Byrgenwerth, I'd definitely look into doing that instead. If you've already done everything you think you can and haven't missed any npcs (except for the handful that...do awful things), going back to Byrgenwerth and completing it should be fine.
Pretty much any game that has 3rd-person melee combat doesn't rely on lock-on systems anymore whether it's Bayonetta, Prince of Persia (2 gens ago), God of War, Dragon's Dogma, Kingdoms of Amular, etc (from spectacle fighters all the way to action RPGs and everything inbetween). I don't think any 3rd-person game has shield controls where you have your shield up and then you press backwards and your character turns around instead of moving backward. I think you're referring to a fixed camera like God of War but very few games have that, none of the games I listed (outside of GoW) have a fixed camera. Even Metal Gear Solid 4 had better shield controls.joest01 said:Haven't played bborne yet but I think you are comparing .souls to character action games here. But glad to see people are enjoying it. If I could get over the killing animals aspect I might be more tempted to go out and get a ps4 for it. But as it stands I will jump on the GoW ascension deal on PSN and play that instead. At least the snakes there have titties![]()
Yes, but in bayonetta or Prince of P you don't have full control of the camera like in .soulsPhoenixmgs said:Pretty much any game that has 3rd-person melee combat doesn't rely on lock-on systems anymore whether it's Bayonetta, Prince of Persia (2 gens ago), God of War, Dragon's Dogma, Kingdoms of Amular, etc (from spectacle fighters all the way to action RPGs and everything inbetween). The alternative to lock on is either give the game some control of the camera, which would completely spoil the .souls experience, or deal with it. Which is possible and in some instances necessary (not to fall of cliffs etc) but for the most part I prefer to be locked on to the baddie I want to take out next.
Why you keep bringing up Amalur and Dogma is beyond me. Those or in essence traditional stats based RPGs.
I seem to be in disagreement with most of your posts but this is qft.hybridial said:I have no idea why anyone could say Dark Souls is harder than Ninja Gaiden.

Right now the Blood-Starved Beast is eating up all my time, that son of a *****.
Yeah, I beat 'm. And wouldn't you know, I did it on my very own. Eventhough on previous attempts I had two co-op partners with me, and I still got owned by that bastard. That fucking poison effect, man... I actually did get a parry on him, but it was sheer luck; I had the rifle speer and I performed a trick combo just for the hell of it and I fired a blast right as he attacked me. This was probably my salvation, because without that parry I'm sure I would've succumbed to that freaking poison again.Phasmal said:Had to make a post right now because I just got past the Blood-Starved Beast and I know exactly what you mean.Casual Shinji said:Even with the music box I haven't been able to beat Gascoigne on my own. I had Alfred the summoned NPC to help me on this one though (because for some reason even though my PS4 is connected to the internet Bloodborne wouldn't start in online mode).
You've probably gotten past it by now (I'm so behind!), but I found using all my fire paper really helped.
But jeez is that boss relentless, is it even possible to parry it? I didn't manage to even once.
Phew. Onwards!
I always considered NG to be a different sort of difficulty than DS, it's sort of funny because while I've beaten both dark souls games and the first two NG games as well as NGB and sigma for the PS3, I had way more difficulty with dark souls than anything in ninja gaiden except playing on the higher difficulties unlocked after beating it once. The first ninja gaiden was pretty easy with how many healing items you could carry with you, if you even needed them, that and the movement system was just so fast that as long as you didn't play too aggressively you could pretty easily dodge almost anything. it's not an easy series, but I never had any issues with beating the games the first time around, apart from a few frustrating bosses, nothing in NG ever really killed me more than once. For me NG was all about the smooth combat and combo system rather than the difficultyjoest01 said:I seem to be in disagreement with most of your posts but this is qft.hybridial said:I have no idea why anyone could say Dark Souls is harder than Ninja Gaiden.
I play both with friends that are what I would refer to as "CoD casual" and DS only took them some patience and perseverence. Neither made it through NG on normal.
Actually I lie. One of them never made it through DS2. He got stuck with the rotten and my soul mem was out of range to summon me because my dual old whips tore through that mother like it was buttah! But he never made it past the FIRST Dynamo fight in NG.
