Its like 20xp to just shoot a guy isn't it? So you'd have to shoot 25 between each objective to make up the ghost points, usually there aren't that many guards so you won't be making up for losing the ghost. So going by unnoticed generally will give a comparable if not more amount of points as shooting them all. If you smack them all on the head without getting seen you get quite a bit of bonus XP for that. It kind of makes sense though doesn't it?

Easiest option >> shoot them in the face >> least points
Medium option >> sneak by them all >> medium points
Hardest option >> knock everyone out without getting spotted >> maximum points
You forget that the total sneak 'I don't get touch anybody' approach also means not getting any of the juicy credit chip on the guard... it will add up and may very well cost you 1 or even 2 praxis kit from the limb clinic by the hand of the game.

I am loving my time with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Right now I'm playing through the game with as little casualties as possible.

You know what I think would have been a good achievement for the game? "Purity First", where you play the entire game without upgrading or purchasing a single augmentation. That would totally be awesome if someone tries that.

If you want my honest opinion, Get it. Now.

For 3 days, it was the only game i played. Its long, without dragging on for pointless reasons.
And its got a good challenge level. It can be difficult, without being a d*ck.

While you are augmented, your STILL a human. And the game plays like that. And i love it for that reason.

The story is slightly predictable at times. There will be moments when you can say, "This is gunna bite me in the ass one day", and you will be 90% right each time you say it. But it doesnt make the game any less fun.

I have to give it an 8/10.
For a story driven RPG, it hits the nail on the head. Its a solid game that shines above the legion of CoD clones and Sports games.

The things that hold it back for me? Lack of "New game plus" like many others have. I would have liked the option to keep my inventory and augs when i start a new game. Another thing i didnt fully care for were the mines. I never used them, and saw combining a grenade with a mine template was a waste of a good grenade.

But the good definitely outweighs the bad. There as so many small details to the game that you will forget are there, but make it feel leagues above any other game. The hacking never gets old, and the gun play is tight.

It's a good game, so even though this won't sound like me singing it's praises I need to get that out of the way. The multiple ways of handling situations really shines for me, it's the execution I find falling short. For some reason I decided to do my first time through on the hardest difficulty, aside from some HUGE issues I have with the cover system it hasn't been a challenge yet, aside from the first boss since my character is stealth based.

Now my honest opinion on some things. I think the story is fairly smart and engaging, it's a good change from the norm. I find the voice acting kills things sometimes though. The voice acting isn't bad by any means, but it is very mediocre and the protagonist's voice makes me wanna hit something after hearing him talk for 5 seconds.

The AI isn't all that great, even on the hardest difficulty you can pick off entire rooms with relative ease, it took three missions for me to even get spotted and that was because I wanted to change it up and run and gun. I think this revolves around the energy system, which I despise, and the imbalance of takedowns in this game.

Shooting isn't all that great, but it's not like I expected gunplay to be all that great in this game. The cover system makes me wanna scream sometimes, holding a button to stay in cover really bothers me, it seems very unnecessary.

TL:DR
I love the atmosphere and the story is quite engaging. The multiple path approach is great. The gunplay is mediocre as is the AI. Some of the systems don't seem all that well thought out. Inventory reminds me of RE4, which is a good thing. All in all it's a good game, reminds me of a more polished Alpha Protocol, if you want a rating 7.75/10. Definitely worth playing.

Edit: New score. 6.5/10. HUD just disappeared at around 15 hour mark. Thought it was part of the game at first. It isn't. It's a glitch. It's quite game-breaking. I'm not restarting. I'm finishing without my HUD. Then I'm gonna return it out of principle.

Yeah, but it generally is harder to knock everyone out, so it makes sense you'd get more rewards for that. The game feeds you some occasional guards that are all by themselves but generally fishing out the entire room one by one is very difficult.

I've only spent around an hour with it so far, but it's looking pretty good. Was going to play more today but Irene took out my electricity at home.

My major gripe so far is that Jensen and most of the characters look goddamn ridiculous. If you look carefully, he has an absolutely impossible chin. Seriously, it sticks out like a wedge. It totally breaks my immersion every time I see it. Also, the voice acting is horrible.

That said, the gameplay looks solid and I'm looking forwards to getting into it.

It's funny, the Witcher 2 had exactly the opposite problems. The characters and voice acting were top notch, but the gameplay was a bit of a letdown.

I've been loving this game so far. The social battles are really fun and it really immerses you.
Also, what was wrong with the first boss battle?

The guy is weak to gas and shocks. All you need to do is throw a gas grenade, hit him with the stun gun about 4 times, shoot him in the face a couple times with a 10mm pistol, then shock him some more.

However, the load times can get annoying and the game has a way of making you think that there is a secret path somewhere when in reality you hit an invisible wall.

I really like to challange myself and set a goal in which I won't kill any guards I come by and finish the game without killing anyone, besides that DAMN TUTORIAL(The first attack).

Its a very good game until you hit a boss fight. Seriously, they ruin the game.
Really? so far I managed to beat the first boss with two or three shots and a couple of barrels.
Yea, one emp grenade and some shotgun shells got me through the first boss easy enough. But wait till you get to the 2nd boss. She has stealth, if you get up close to her, she blows up killing you, if you shoot at her far away, she'll shoot you dead, if she blows up in the wrong place, you'll be electrocuted, AND she can take more shots than a herd of frat boys. Seriously, its like trying to fight the Terminator with a BB gun.
I'll see if I can find a not so lethal way of taking her out then. It would be a pity if the game forces me to change my non lethal stealthy ways just because it's a "boss fight".
They do. It's technically possible to beat the first boss non-lethally (Although he still dies in the cutscene), but the other bosses must be killed. And they have a shitload of health.

Unless you keep one anti-boss gun and NEVER use it for anything other than bosses ('Cause bosses eat up ammo like you can't even believe, and you don't even get that much ammo beforehand), plan on having every boss after the first one destroy you
Second Boss beaten with two shots, easier than the first one. She has a tendency to run toward those generators on the walls. :D
wat. wat. wat.

You just shot the generators when she ran near them...? ... ... ...I see...
No, she shot them herself when she does her close range attack, all you have to do is move. Or if you are feeling more aggressive, stun and shoot at your pleasure.
When you say close range attack, do you mean when she starts spamming Typhoon or something else?

All of the guards in the tutorial can be avoided. It's tricky in the last of the three "encounters," but if you get down the stairs and into cover as fast as possible (while they're still coming into the room), you can circumvent them.

Fun. So, I shoot a guy, hide. They look for me then back off, I go out, shoot a guy, repeat.

Snickering as they swear at me and say they're gone to find me.

Ah, good times. I killed 'em all.

Kinda funny. I get back from a mission, only to get a mission, then another mission. So I go to take care of one mission, I leave the building and this woman walks up and sends me on a mission, where I talk to a guy, getting me 3 more missions.

To anyone who's played it: Is there any truth to the claim that it's far too easy? I like a challenge and if it's really easy there's no point in buying it.

I love just watching a group of guards, wondering how to take them down silently, without anyone noticing. And there are tons of methods for confronting a situation. Early on, I screwed up the conversation with the police secretary (b*tch.) and had to sneak through the police station to find the code. If that conversation had gone better, I could have avoided so much, its cool. Same with later, I "won" the conversation with the guy against augs, and he gave me what I wanted. In the room, I noticed a vent and a computer. Had I screwed that up, I would have had a much larger task on my hands. You don't see that kind of stuff anywhere else. That's what I love about it.

I don't know who would say its easy. On medium, at lowest armour augs you are WEAK. Guns a blazing will not work. Whether you go stealth or head on, you must plan and decide how it will go down. For head on, maybe snipe the heavy artillery man, then head shot the others. Or use a gas gernade to confuse them, while getting a new position to take them out on.

I prefer Stealth, as I find the greatest show of skill being able to get by undetected, and only taking down guards when you absolutely cannot avoid them.

It's very good, but I can't stand cover based shooting. It was designed to compensate for console's shit controllers. On the PC it's just lame.

Other than that though, it's awesome.

I actually liked the voice acting (Mostly. Some parts were so bad they made me cringe). The writing is pretty solid in my opinion too.

The gameplay's very good and it kept me engaged to the end. Then again, I'm very easily entertained.

It is a very stealth based game which I'm not very fond of but enemies aren't invincible and aren't super sharp shooters so the direct approach is always an option. They pulled of the hacking mini-game very well, it's fun without overstaying it's welcome. It's also a very nice fps/cover shooter hybrid. Switching to and from is very fluid and being behind cover doesn't initiate "god mode" or anything like that.

I'm nearing the end of the first chapter and I like the story a lot. It's immersive and believable. While yes, the lip syncing isn't too great and "Jensen's" voice seems to be always set on "just smoked all of the cigarettes ever" these are minor flaws that are easily looked over.

I play on the PC and the mouse seemed to sensitive and the load times were a bit too long but they've recently released a patch to fix those two issues.

In short, I went in not knowing what to expect and I found a brilliant world.

I haven't found that. I don't try to play either way, I just do whatever seems best when I feel like it. I've found some areas easier to stealth, others easier to shoot past. Or sometimes stealth to get into a perfect position... THEN KILL THEM ALL!!!

There's variety. :)

It really pisses me off anytime there is a real major decision in the game that might seriously affect the outcome of an event the game yoinks the controller away from me and goes. "My turn to play now I'm going to navigate your stupid ass right into that ambush."

I'm buying it next week, hopefully the stealth gameplay isn't stupidly easy or I'll feel pretty ripped off.
Its not easy per se, but you have to think, and plan. Once you have a plan, all that's left is the execution.

Sometimes my plan works out great, other times... well... I guess a sniper rifle wasn't as quiet as I hoped...

I'll just say that the room full of about 15 guards didn't appreciate me sniping their most heavily armed soldier...
