I have both consoles myself at the moment, however this is kind of funny as neither company can make the slighest claim to a moral high ground.

Back during the LAST round of the video game wars, Microsoft was complaining about how Sony did things like buy stock in companies like Square-Enix so they wouldn't make games for anything but Sony consoles.
Square Enix was going to go bankrupt without Sony's help. Remember FF:Spirits within. That almost killed the company.

Then again Valve's been on the Source engine for 10 plus years now. And source is pretty much ALL C++. Maybe Valve just needs to learn hoe to, oh I dunno, upgrade before next gen. Seriously to not want to learn new coding is stupid, we're in the information age. Why can pretty much every single other third party company make a PS3 game but not Valve?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but apart from some scripting languages at times, I think most games with high performance demands still use C++.

Microsoft: "What was that? I'm sorry, we didn't hear you because of how much money we have!"

Console wars are pathetic enough when it's just between fanboys. Do the big guys at Sony really feel the need to step down to that level?

Microsoft's total revenue is actually - $58 billion. Net Income:-$14 billion. Total Assets: $70 million

Sony's total revenue is $80 billion. Net Income:- $1 billion. Total Assets: $230 billion.

So it's more like ""What was that? I'm sorry, we didn't hear you because of how much money we have!"

"Yeah, Microsoft that's the sound of money getting burn away..." "Leave it Ted, they'll learn soon enough."

If Microsoft have the money to grab timed exclusive DLC and the stuff like that than that's part of their business plan. Sony can't moan just because they didn't get in their first.
You're right, but can I moan for not being able to play DLC just because I own a PS3? Of course I can. I hate it when Microsoft does that, because then PS3 gamers lose out on extra content.

Fine I'll correct you. The Source engine requires ALL coding to be in C++ whereas most other programing languages can implement one another. Valve just doesn't want to take the time to find a way to convert Source into something PS3 compatible.

Hey Sony! Guess what? NOBODY CARES WHAT YOU THINK!

Now i've got that rather awesome line out of the way...

Yeah Sony, lets not moan just because you can't invest as heavily as Microsoft does. Its obviously working for them so why would they stop? Are you just jealous?

I agree that the Blu Ray drive is Sony's biggest advantage. How many more multiple disk games like FFXIII will consumers (and mainly developers) put up with?
As a gamer who switched disks in Mass Effect 2 without even slightly caring, quite a few, I guess. The only people who'll care about that are the publishers, methinks.
I agree here, I was actually happy when I saw the disk change. It signalled to me that they had spent a long time making a game that would last me longer than 4 hours.

Sony should be kinda glad their studios are in-house...Valve has made it clear that being newly introduced to the Playstation 3 Devkit is like being given a physics quiz in an unknown tribal language.
and then infinity ward said that ps3 development was easy.

Looks like Sony's bitter that the PS3 still doesn't have a Killer App yet. At this stage, it probably never will.

Everyone bow before our obvious superiority!
Does that mean me too? Can I join in?

Bashing MS for utilising their cash to secure exclusives seems a little "we-can't-afford-it-thus-it's-morally-wrong". Given a wodge of cash, I'm certain Sony would do the exact same thing.
If only they hadn't given hundreds of millions of dollars away to movie companies as incentives to release movies only on BD instead of HD-DVD. Then, they'd have the millions of dollars needed to buy exclusive games.
:p

Microsoft, to me is retarded.

Just look at the price tag of Halo 3 when it came out. $50. (At least in the U.S.)
And they jacked the price $10 to compete with the PS3.

Completely retarded move on Microsofts' side.

Back in April, Sony IndustryGamers [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/90937-Sony-Calls-Out-Microsoft-Over-First-Party-Development] that Sony "counters" Xbox 360 exclusives with its own first-party games, which Microsoft simply has no answer to.
So, best I can figure, his argument is that Sony is a better company than Microsoft because they utilize first party development, and therefore, you should give them your loyalty. Well, I have no more loyalty for faceless corporations. If your product is good, I will buy it. I want to play Mass Effect 2, and I could honestly give a shit whether it comes from a 1st party developer or not. I need a 360 to play it, so I own a 360.

And I own a PS3. Not out of loyalty to Sony, but because I wanted to play MGS4, Uncharted 2, etc.

They need to settle this with Giant Robots
I would pay to see that!

I barely play the ps3 because it has less exclusives I want, MGS4 is the only major one I couldn't pass up.

Huh. I like how he boasts that Sony will beat Microsoft, but forgets the fact that they've both been forced to debase themselves for Nintendo's amusement.

Defeat Nintendo, and maybe I'll be impressed.

...That's... cheap?

I think you need a quick dose of perspective here. Check European and Australian prices, and be grateful.

It's not the fact that the price is bad, it's the fact that people would have $10 extra to buy anything that's $10, even if the game in on the 360 or PS3. No matter what quality it's in. It's still Rock Band, or Bioshock 2.

Microsoft looks at that and would say, "We could use that extra $10 dollars for our own use of nothingness." Then jack up the price. Like with everything.

Plus, I wouldn't add the Aussies or Europeans because they are smarter than the average American. *cough* Yahtzee's cue *cough* They would pick the right system, regardless of price, because of the quality they get out of it, or satisfaction of gameplay. Not the price of the game.

So the Playstation and Playstation 2's hardcore reliance on the RPG market in general, fueled by an exclusivity contract with Square Enix that only recently expired, was entirely different from what Microsoft does when it signs exclusivity contracts with major developers. Huh.
I thought the contract was indefinite. maybe they are not breaching it because all I think it stated was it had to be on the PS (nothing about it being on others) but I could be completely wrong. either way microsoft should not have XIII on it as a game should not have to be downgraded to go on another system.

Haha, sounds like their opinion of Fable is the same as mine.

Anyway, they seem to both be getting down and dirty with the trash-talk lately (more so than usual).
Me too. The games never really grab me.
