Wow, awesome, state-of-the-art technology can be used to make the screen blurry. Tell me more about this amazing development while I play A Mind Forever Voyaging on this 1992 computer.
Aye, the HDR lighting was also used in The Lost Coast, so if that can be done on a PC a number of years prior to the release of the PS3, it seems an odd thing for them to boast about.Baby Tea said:Yeah that's a piss poor example.
For a more recent example, didn't the Orange Box also use HDR lighting?
That was on every system (Save the Wii).
What a bizarre example.

seriously, every time a console is mentioned on this site, everyone has to defend the PC...shut the fuck up about cause my eyes are starting to bleed (over reacting with the eyes bleeding bit before i get someone who thinks they are smart)
if the word "console" is mentioned can people please stop saying " YEH WELL PC CAN DO THAT HAS BEEN FOR AGES!!!" cause tbh...we don't care. we all know PC's can do alot more, although getting some games to work on typical PC's and not gaming ones can be a struggle, KOTOR wont work on this PC properly, keeps freezing on me even with everything turned down, but ooo look, i play the console version and not one freeze or lag... one advantage of consoles they can play anything thrown at them, where for PC u may need to buy a new one.
argue that point, cause everyone knows that to be right, typical PC's sometimes...not all the time...only sometimes. cannot play everything thrown at them without upgrading
And maybe if Sony made a video game console that was presented as such instead of as a cheaper and less versatile computer none of this would occur, but that's all they've been doing. Remember, "it does everything"arc1991 said:i wish people would get into there thick heads that we are on about consoles and NOT PC's here.

4 different iterations of the PS3 every time they had to phase out half their models...which was about once every 6 months, clearly.Amnestic said:What else would I spend that money on?BehattedWanderer said:For quadruple the price, of course.Amnestic said:Yes, we resort to fully exploring the customisation and versatility of the platform. All ps3's are backwards compatible with ps1 games. PS2 tends to be the old 40gb, 60gb and 80gb (us only). Ps3 slims are compatible with all ps1 games, but no ps2 games.Bluesclues said:I have the 80g, it's not backwards compatible. No, there are only a handful of exclusives that would make me buy a PS3: Folklore, Valkyria Chronicles, inFamous and White Knight Chronicles. And Versus XIII...if it's an exclusive.
GoW never entered my mind due to how dismal the last one was.
Really, the only diff between the systems is the Blu-Ray and how they market themselves. Sony likes to say that the PS3 does "Everything", yet it isn't backwards compatable, has less than robust online play, and if "Everything" means "Also hard to program for", then they are right.

We can do that you know.BehattedWanderer said:Could the Xbox do it? Probably. Do I want it to? Hells no. Could it be done on PC, where the smoothness and complexity of Kratos' etremely fluid actions would be broken up by keystrokes and clicks? Name an actually complex hack and slack that really works on the pc for any kind of intelligent combination-attack system.
The only major difference between these consoles is the discs they use. PS3 use Blu ray, (which is 25gb if I remember correctly, 50 if it's dual-layered) and Xbox use dvds, (7.5gb, dual-layered is up to 18gb.) Games like Uncharted 2 and MGS4 could of course be done on the 360, but the manufacturing costs would be higher, as two or more discs would have to be made.Belladonnah said:Well, every game that was made for the PS3 exclusively could have been done for the x360, no doubt in that (with the possible exception of MGS4 that while not impossible, would be impractical). But so what? Every game for the x360 could have been made for the PS3 as well with no exceptions. Then again, there are games like Dragon Age Origins that looks rubbish on x360, and considering the developer, it wasn't because it got more attention on the PS3 version.
Sony also claimed that Modnation Racers was only doable on the PS3 thanks to it's "advanced graphics" at one point, right?CantFaketheFunk said:\Speaking with CVG, GOW3's UK product manager Claire Backhouse reinforced the idea that the mythology-slaughtering carnagefest was only possible with the power of Sony's sleek black machine, just like they've claimed with every other PS3 exclusive since freakin' Resistance.
David Macphail said:They're right. Xbox 360 can't handle PS3 graphics, that's just a fact. For the past 2 years in a row it's been a PS3 exclusive that has won the "Best Graphics" award at the end of the year.
God Of War 3 COULD be on the 360, if you were OK with it having graphics dumbed - down to look terrible like Gears Of War. If you want it to have proper graphics, it can only be done on the PS3. Sony have been saying it about every exclusive because it's true about every exclusive and that's Microsoft's fault, not Sony's. Microsoft CHOSE to use last - gen technology in their machine and now they're paying the price. GOW 3 is only possible on PS3, MGS4 is only possible on the PS3, GT 5 is only possible on PS3, Uncharted 2 is only possible on PS3. Those are just the facts.

Only women and non - gamers play games on the PC anyway. Go back to killing pixelated Goblins in World Of Warcraft, real gamers play on real consoles. PC gaming has been dead for years like any real gamer knows.
