And anyway, what else would he list? The 360 doesn't have anything else this year (or ever) that you can't get a better version of on PC (except of course those overmarketed testoterone filled space marine games). But no, the PC isn't a legit system, so it MUST be exclusive.....
Do me a favor, take a second and look what company is behind the 360...Done? Ok.
Now go look what company is behind Windows, and makes use of Games for Windows Live...Done? Ok.
Now slap self.
Repeat previous step as necessary until your inner fanboi is dead.
Insturctions are needed for people of that caliber of stupid sadly.

Thanks for helping the guy out though! Fanboys on all sides really need to just croak.

Am I the only person who remembers seeing that light thing on Halo 3?
I remember it too, in fact I was going to point it out. Indeed in Halo 3 you get the same light level changes when you go in and out of places and it was just a minor visual detail. It is not something you need a specific kind of processing power to do, especially not if the console that evidentally does not have that feature did the effect before you.

I respect Sony's right to their franchise but really gloating with points like that only undermine their position. However I'm sure they'll come up with a better reason, after all I have no problem admitting that the PS3 is a powerful system.

Hey David Macphail, Watch and pout in your total ignorance as my copy of Crysis shits all over Uncharted 2. Uncharted 2 has good graphics, no denying it, but it's nothing compared to Crysis. And no, I don't have some multi-thousand dollar computer, my machine was less than 500 a year ago, and it can play Crysis max settings, at 1080P, something that any current console has a snowballs chance in hell at doing.
Suck it ignorant fan boy, and before you right some pathetic excuse for shit as a response actually go look up some facts.

Yeah, I think Sony is just blowing steam. What they need to do is get a bunch of big titles from Xbox and Playstation and do sort of "hostage swap." That isn't the most accurate way to put it, but they should swap titles.

Sony: "I'll give you God of War III if you give us Mass Effect II."

Microsoft: "I don't know, maybe you should give us an extra million dollars... oh, who am I kidding!? I want to kill Minotaurs, too! Let's do it!"

Is this really even an issue with a game that appears to be reverse-engineered from God of War,Dante's Inferno, clearly being on the Xbox 360?

Unless God of War learned some new tricks beyond brutality(which videogames and Adult Swim cartoons have in spades these days), it isn't a compelling reason to plunk down $300 for a PS3 for by itself. I already played the same game twice on PS2 as it is.

Maybe if it were a pack-in, that would be different story...possibly a better one than God of War 2 had!

There's nothing that's on God of War that can't be done on the 360.

I'm a big fan of PS3 (its my favorite system) but sometimes Sony can be a bit smug about what they think is doable on their systems.
Just Sony trying to be sony, getting everyone to think that black, monolith of sheer power is the one and only console...
It's like Christianity, trying to claim that they made Christmas, or Russia saying they invented Communism.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Valve accomplished HDR on the PC and 360 in 2006 with HL2 Episode 1, and there's the obvious aforementioned Ico example (although I'm giving that less credit because it was on a Sony system).

It's also far too specific. I don't know jack about the series, being a PC man, but say it was engineered requiring the Sixaxis. That would be a logical reason for it to be PS3 only as it would have a broad effect on gameplay as a whole. Saying that a specific visual effect would not function at a particular level of quality on other systems because of the way it was designed for just this game is like saying a game would only run on the PC because you have to use a mouse to aim. (Long sentence) It may be true, but it would be far from difficult to reengineer the technology so that it would work with a thumbstick in my example or with the graphics engines of other platforms like in the real-life instance.

It's a weak excuse for an obvious money grab, and will get them nowhere. Remember how the PC port of Halo 2 was apparently "too advanced to run on XP" when the tech used was three years old at the time of release. The real reason, of course? Bungie belongs to Microsoft, who wanted a marketing aid for Vista. That went well.

Valve did it on the 360 with the Orange Box, and EA did it with Mirror's Edge. It looked good when they did it, mostly because they're both first person shooters. Am I really expected to froth at the mouth with envy when the PS3 pulls it off without effort? What I really want to ask however, is if it is really necessary on a third person hack and slash.

When did "because the IP is ours" become an unaccepted answer to these types of questions?

no, that is not the reason, im just sick of PC's being mentioned every time a console is brought up, i don't mean to come across that way, but i wanted to share my point across.

plus im on this and MSN at the same time, which means my mind is in MSN mode and i type like im talking to my friends on MSN.

and i know they crap all over consoles, you know why? its mentioned in these forums 5000 times a day.

i don't mean to be a dick head, because im not, im usually very calm and peaceful and like having a few jokes here and their, but when someone brings up a point that everyone knows, its gets a bit stupid
But that's the point of this article, Sony were harping on about how God of War III can only be on PS3, when there are other platforms (PC being one of them) that could easily do it.
It's a valid point to mention that PC's can do it, hence sony is lying on their marketing. (Which is a bit like calling a spade a spade really...)

I dunno, but I wish they had a bit of honesty in them.

Anyone who thinks PC's are good for gaming is as crazy as an inbred Bulldog. In fact.....they more likely ARE an inbred Bulldog. PC has garbage graphics, that's a fact. Uncharted 2 won the award for "Best Graphics 2009" because PC has shit graphics. PS3 can do graphics, PC can do nothing. Only women and non - gamers play games on the PC anyway. Go back to killing pixelated Goblins in World Of Warcraft, real gamers play on real consoles. PC gaming has been dead for years like any real gamer knows.
You're funny.

Hookers, blow, and an amusement park lifetime ticket?
I'd rather have an optimum gaming PC to be honest. Hookers are meh, blow is icky and there aren't any amusement parks nearby. I hate travelling. Car journies are so tedious.

Name an actually complex hack and slack that really works on the pc for any kind of intelligent combination-attack system.
The Prince of Persia trilogy and Batman: Arkham Asylum come to mind.

At any rate, there really isn't anything I can say about this announcement that hasn't been said already. HDR is nothing new and Sony is really grasping at straws here.

Yeah that's a piss poor example.
For a more recent example, didn't the Orange Box also use HDR lighting?
That was on every system (Save the Wii).

What a bizarre example.
Half Life: Lost Coast used HDR and it required Shader Model 2.0 (currently there are 4.0 and 5.0 versions).
.
which could run fine on a single core processor and a gpu made six years ago

...yah, this was a superb example on sony's part!

hahaha.. oh wow, what rubbish.

To say it can't be accomplished on the 360 is one thing. God of war III looks like quite a pretty game but it's nothing spectacular and the 360 hardware could easily manage it.

To say it couldn't be accomplished on anything BUT the PS3 (erm, PC anyone?) is absolutely ridiculous. Crysis chews this game up and spits it out. Not that I expect this game should come out on the PC, as none of the other GOW games have and its not really a PC friendly game to most people in terms of the control system. But to say the PC couldn't handle it graphically is preposterous.

Yeah, I'm sure the best PC gaming rig in the world couldn't handle it either... I don't even like God of War, but come on Sony, really?
