as the owner of a PS3, while i do think this is a bad excuse, that logcal part of my brain is shouted down by the part that says "well the 360 has many popular exclusive games, we have 3"

and i don't know the acutal figures, i'm making a wild, blind folder stab in the dark with a blunt object

Silly ppl and their console wars. Just enjoy games.

Silly Sony and their marketing BS. Don't worry, M$ will counter it next week with an equally stupid comment. "360 pwns PS3 because of this game... which we too own the rights for."

Just play your games and enjoy yourselves ppl, thats the only way to go <3

LOL I just added a Shader mod to Morrowind which does the exact same thing.

Are Kratos' chain weapons actually proper chains this time around, as opposed to chain textured straight lines?

If they are proper chains (with each link behaving and moving independently) then that would be a good demonstration of the PS3's power, since (as far as I know) no game has been able to render a chain or flail weapon properly - I'm guessing because of the processor heavy complexity of plotting the paths of each individual link.

Does that make sense? I'm sure someone else could probably explain what I mean in less Layman's terms.

FarCry 2 had this effect to an unbelieveable degree. Ico was originally a PS1 game that got canceled and then put on the PS2 later. Another game that utilized the human-eye effect a lot is Mirror's Edge, where it gets annoying.

For all those saying "the PC can do this" perhaps you should look at how much it would cost to build/buy a PC to do what the PS3 (or Xbox for that matter) can do. When you need to spend at least 3 times the price to do the same job your argument kind of falls flat. Besides, just because you play games on your PC doesn't make it a games console. It's like saying a Cray super computer can do more floating point calculations than a Cell CPU, therefore why buy a PS3? Apples and oranges.
I long for the day when this common misconception about gaming PC's dies a quiet death.

I upgraded my PC a year ago. For $500, which is less than the PS3 cost originally, I now have a PC that can kick the ever-living shit out of both the Xbox 360 and PS3. I don't care if you prefer consoles, that's perfectly fine. Just get your facts straight.

Funny, I think it'd be more possible on a PC since it actually has enough ram to make real looking shadows unlike most games. But I digress, HDR lighting isn't something to be bragging about since it doesn't effect the gameplay and is easily turned off in most games for better game performance.

Perhaps Sony explain why their system is so hard to program for? Every multiplatform game suffers for it. Their first party games are always great but, had it been easier to program for maybe Bayonetta wouldn't have such framerate issues.

I can't wait for God of War III, they've all been incredible (Including the PSP one which blew me away). But Sony should really be bragging about other things, that it takes GoW to the next level, will probably be the best looking game next to Uncharted 2, how destroys the blatant copy of God of War, Dante's Inferno.

for fuck's sake GTA IV did that and that was hardly the most technologically impressive game in the world.

so did half life 2 and i can run that on my laptop which has a 2.1 ghz single core processor, 3GBs of ram and 512MBs of shared video memory. last i checked that's not that great.

"The dynamic lighting solution employed in GOW III is only feasible through the computing power provided by the Cell SPUs," said Backhouse. "For example, using the High Dynamic Range Lighting (HDRL) technology, the camera - when using Kratos' sightline - will emulate the human retina, causing players to feel a sharp brightness when Kratos exits a dark area and enters a sunlit area, similar to how the human eye would need to adjust."
I'm pretty sure PC games have been doing that for YEARS.

Wow, Sony saying they're better than Microsoft, that's news I have never heard before! but no, Sony could have picked a hundred other things and Microsoft could make a hundred others to counter, but this is really just what people in advertising like to call a "smear campaign". you say that you're competitor is worse and that you are far better. this will probably end with Microsoft going "YHEA, WEL, YOUR ONLINE IZZZZZZZ BADZORZZZZZZ LOLOLOLOLOLZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!111ONEONEONE" as that is how all debates over consoles end up getting settled.

Why not just say "It's ours', we can do whatever we want with the God of War franchise." Although Sony pretty much has to say they are better than the other console giants. It's business and every advantage you have over your competitors helps to keep your product selling.

Kratos is so awesome that he will absolutely skullfuck the PS3's processors. If a 360 were to even attempt to hold up his power, it would red ring itself into flames.

I have no idea about the technical stuff, maybe it's true, probably could be done on an atari 2600 if you programmed it well enough, but you have to take this into account, it's a PR guy saying this.

That said I'll probably be pre-ordering this bad boy it looks amazing.
