I hope it does cost them billions. It will certainly teach them to be more fucking careful in the future.

I'll put money down that if SCE is killed by this that The Last Guardian won't see the light of day.
My heart just shrunk to the size of a raisin...Fuck, I'm depressed!
No matter what any fanboy can say, the death of a major player like this will be a profound loss to gaming as a whole.
You forget that fanboys are unable to feel profound loss. Unless ofcourse it's the source of their own fanboyism that dies.

Even if Sony's gaming department doesn't go under if they lose enough money then we as consumers might see that in say pay subscriptions for PSN or higher prices for other services. I def agree Sony is at some fault here I am just dreading the worst possible outcome.

Yeah I really want the 2 pence I spent on the phone call to my bank!

Lol what is this? This lawsuit is stupid. I'm not a fan of Sony's recent behaviour, they have been downright evil, but they weren't in the wrong here (for the most part, they still could have better informed their customers).

Wow, people you're NOT helping. Sony loses the trust of their fanbase, their stocks take an extremely sharp nosedive, the stolen account number is the highest in history, PSN's been down for a while, Sony is blamed for what could have happened to anyone, and you want to have a class action lawsuit?!

*sigh* some people. :|

So, has there been any confirmed damage to affected users yet? It's been, what, seven days? Haven't heard from anyone saying that they are finding strange things in their accounts yet.

Wow the problems are really starting to pile up for Sony, I wonder how long it will take before I start feeling sorry for them.

Just about the time when Bobby Kotick starts paying gamers when they get an Activision game.

OT:

My thoughts when I read this:

Every time I read something about $ony, it just keeps getting better and better.
Is it time for popcorn and thirstbusters?
This show demands snack food.

Considering that most people seem to associate companies like Sony with D-bags in suits, I dont know how many people realize that those fuckers will probably be fine. Its all the employees who are working for the paycheck and their livelihood that will get fucked in the end. Whenever shit like this happens, they (the company in question) will always cut the lower rungs off the ladder.

Pretty much this. I'd rather have them try and hunt down the people who stole the information in question, find ways to prevent such a massive theft from happening again and start the long long road in getting the trust in their fanbase back.

I will never understand this whole "Stick it to the Man!" crap people have been banging on about for the past few days. I'm pretty sure if that hacker stole your information you'd want their head stuck to a pike as warning to all hackers, just be thankful they haven't turned their attention towards you.

Forgive me for being a bit rude, but what has SONY done lately that couldn't be picked up by, say, Microsoft's gaming division if SCE goes under? They have an online network that pales compared to XBL, a motion controller that, face it, is a direct rip off of the Wii, and are falling flat on their faces in the handheld competition against Nintendo. I don't see the future of gaming being any worse off if Sony and all it's terrible PR and bad practices get pushed out of the market over this, it might even make an opening for a better company to come in and take its place.
Nobody wants your flamebait here. Thank you, and good day!
Mane one thing he said that is not true, your being a fan boy, the only negative here is that less competition generally means higher prices.
Okay, I will name one thing. That PSN pales in comparison. They are two different services, provided by two different companies.

Also, there's a hell of a lot that Micro$oft's gaming division couldn't do. They are a less experienced sector, compared to SCE, and without SCE, we'd be without a lot of games I rather like.

Oh, and please look up the definition of fanboy, I just dislike the 360. I find it's controller clunky and awkward, it's online system unsatisfactory, and it's games library more tailored toward "SHOOTYSHOOTYBANGYOU'REDEAD!!1!11!1!" games, which, when bland and generic, which most of them are, I don't like. And, if you'd taken the time to look on my profile, you'd find an active Steam account there.

Now, adieu, and please refrain from quoting me again, otherwise I will resort to barely coherent accusations in your general direction... Oh wait, that's you. >=/

Doesn't the whole idea of someone hacking something mean that they outsmarted their target's system. I doubt very seriously that Sony had their network files lying outside their headquarter doors with a big, shiny sign saying HACK ME! Sony's information protection was probably just as strong as anybody's was expected to be. Sony getting hacked doesn't mean that they were being negligent, it means that there are some pretty darn smart and evil people out there.

Christ... does anyone know how I could check if I used a credit card on my psn or not, I've only bought psn cash twice, and I know for sure the second time was a card, no clue on the first, or what card I used at the time

Am I the only one that's a little pissed that somehow I'm included in all this?

Look, I don't give a shit about lawsuits or any of the other speculative bullshit I've been reading for the past few days right now. I just want to know if I need to change my credit card or not, who did it, and when is this all gonna be fixed!
Pretty much. I couldn't care less about this lawsuit. This kind of thing happens all the time.

might PSN just go no longer free to use and make it the $60 a year X-Box live does (i don't do x-box live so i have no idea if thats right)? I hope that doesn't happen the only reason i get everything on PlayStation is cause online is free...
