Without reading any of the other comments, I gotta say, how the hell is this guy a senator if he doesn't even know what the first god damn amendment says?
The same way the incumbant president got the job while not knowing thing-one about the whole Constitution that he swore to defend and uphold.

The American electorate has a terrible tendancy to collective moronism, despite their individualistic dogma.

Touche, but let's not get presidents into this shall we?

How the hell is this supposed to stand? First of all, you can't stop us unless you want to post cops at every street corner and in your house to make sure you don't curse, which is impractical.
Second, what constitutes a curse word? Am I going to jail for saying "hell"? This is so loose that it's stupid. What counts as a curse or otherwise offensive word becomes extremely subjective after the obvious ones like "damn" and the "F-word." You have to get a guy to compile a dictionary of taboo words if this law goes through. How are we supposed to refer to the mentally slow? (that term, if it becomes common, WILL become taboo)
Third, YOU JUST CAN'T FREAKING STOP US! (and would that substitution for the "F-word" throw me into jail too?) IT DOESN'T WORK! Is it just me, or are all politicians becoming stupid at once? Between trying so hard to censor video games when they should be trying to do something about the state of the economy and trying to pass completely irrational laws, I say the country is going to hell if these are the people running it.

Personally, I hate people who throw in a curse word in every other sentence. They are JUST STUPID, no further description needed. I curse very infrequently for emphasis when I think normal words don't work and I'm agitated. I have the sense not to curse at all when little kids are around (people who do are idiots and the kids turn out like one little brat I had to babysit for the neighbors) and I don't go screaming the F-word mindlessly when I'm angry (like some people so sadly do). The worst part is, some concerned parents groups (which I have pretty much never agreed with) might think he's on to something and totally support the passing of this. They run on the fear of a "monkey see, monkey do" mentality, and we are the mindless monkeys with no morals or sense. It is a complete blanket: none of us are exempt from this (in their minds), which is why I hate concerned parents groups and blanket statements. They assume that we're idiots and can't think on our feet, but it doesn't apply to all of us.
You can teach your little kids not to be bad people, but there is no surefire way of making sure unless you are with them 24/7, but that keeps them from becoming independent and gaining personality. You can only teach and hope that they take your words to heart. Sorry that I had to rant, but I hate it when people try to pass ideas for the sake of our protection and innocence based on naive assumptions. We're going to become disillusioned sooner or later and find out that the world isn't sweet. They can only do so much to try to make that world better for us, but this isn't it.

Maybe if this fucking dumbass could read he'd know what the first fucking amendment in the Constitution says. Though I guess he'd need to find out what the Constitution is first.

actually it's called intelligent design and they keep trying to push for it but it's been rejected in court as religion. it's creationism but inside of "god doing it" it's some "intelligent creator" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intelligent_design
I know. I called it Creationism because, despite how there legally is a distinction between the 2, there really isn't one.

Well I don't care, since I am 19, but the kids hear it from their parents and around the playground anyway, so I really don't see how banning swearing in video games will make a difference, also you cannot currently control what is said in XBL(voice chat), so if that game has online play then you really have not accomplished anything, same goes for PSN, Ventrillo, etc...

Congratulations America! You've moved one step closer to a Totalitarian Government! Just wait until Newspeak starts popping up in your vocabulary.

its one guy and its still not even close to Hillary Clinton and the 1993-current day crusade against video game violence (a democrat and an Obama supporter none the less)

No. No. Just on so many levels, no.

This is sickening. Repulsive. And I'm saying this as an American.

Not only will it not pass, but it won't work, either, because you simply can't control what children, or anyone else, for that matter, come into contact with, unless you want to destroy mankind.

What's more, who gets to decide what's vulgar? Are you going to outlaw words like "Poo" "Tinkle" and "Potty?" No. No. Just no.

George Carlin would be pissed.

Apologies for such a short rant, but I have to go brush my teeth. Mouthwash wouldn't hurt, either.

hey, pissed might get outlawed too! pissed? Carlin (bless his soul) would have a field day with something like this! He could do an entire half-hour segment on something like that.

To this foolish senator I will quote the late, great George Carlin:

"Shit, Piss, Fuck, ****, CockSucker, ************, and Tits"

Just try and shut me up.

I knew that our politicians were stupid but I never thought someone would be this incredibly idiotic. If this even came close to being passed I would have to leave America and never come back.
