Nice to see people mocking the dead kid and bragging about how they could go for longer. How many of you guys were screaming for blood over the "Guy steals consoles from sick kids" and "Guy steals Gameboy from dead kid" stories, hmm?

My thoughts exactly. It's just horribly inappropriate and callous.

I've played longer than 12 hours, there's nothing that sitting perfectly still for 12 hours will do to you healthwise as long as it's not regular. He wouldn't have been malnourished, low on water, sleep deprived or suffering organ failure.

The quickest thing to kill you is lack of water and that takes 2-4 days.

I know that on my flight to Japan standing up and walking around was mandatory every 5-6 hours because if you sit still for too long you can develop blood clots, which might possibly, after being shaken take some time(a few hours) to lodge into a vital part of your body, such as your brain. It can kill you.

Yeah I remember having to do the same routine on my long flights too. Depending on wear you would get the clot it would have a different effect....getting one in your leg would suffocate you to death...that might actually be what he got.

12 hours straight? I've done that more times than I can count and I'm obviously not dead. That wasn't the cause of this kid's death.

My money's on stimulants, maybe amphetamines. The guy shows up in the middle of the night, goes for 8 hours, then stops homes briefly "to eat" before returning and dying? The "quick meal" sounds like an assumption on the part of the cafe staff or an excuse he might use as a cover story.

It wouldn't be the first time a Korean gamer has died from mixing speed and Starcraft. There have even been reports of SK gaming cafes doping their drinks to keep patrons there longer.

wait, moon? I'm pritty sure thats the name of one of the best Warcraft 3 players in thw world... I doubt it was him because I'd presume he was older but I have a feeling he was korean :S

My first thought when I read his name was this.

OT: I don't know why he died, what was he playing that made him die in just 12 hours, watching TV for 12 hours wouldn't kill you, so he must have had some other health problems too.

My cousin said that Koreans don't play Warcraft they play Starcraft because that's the one they're good at.

That's sad. I've played games for awhile, but no 12 hours (been up longer though.)

I play for more then 12 hours straight several times in a week, and Im doing fine.

He obviously died from something completely unrelated! Not that the anti-gaming morons are gonna consider that.

12 hours? That's it? I've had longer gaming binges when the N64 was new... and most recently I beat Castlevania Lords of Shadow in one sitting that pushed at least 15...<.<

I think thats more likely than anything. 12 hours is not real excess. Especially for a 19 year old.

i feel like theres probably some other factor that lead to his death. i played the Halo 3 beta for about 18 hours straight, and was awake for a couple more hours on each end of that marathon, so i am surprised to see that this kid couldnt handle 12 hours. he mustve been awake for days or something before that, or had some kind of health issue

also, South Korea is giving the game industry some bad press... they need to learn to control themselves, because damn near every gaming-related death is coming from that country
