On a more serious note though, I've had my biological clock completely bonked before while working deep past midnight on a simulation project before kept up by red bull and other energy drinks. One time, I went behind a corner in the building's computer lab and slept for a few hours, and so on. It was hell.
But I'm alive.
Clearly, this kid needed to know when to punch out, and didn't. I'll admit I chuckled when I read those "the world lost a moron" sentiments. All I have to say is that there's a lot more to this than "derp, gamer dead from one night of gaming".

oor guy, he must have had another problem besides gaming, twelve hours won't kill you besides maybe a blood clot.
I'm guessing he had some kind of defect just waiting to crap out and this is when it decided to do so. I mean I've pulled a few all nighters and I didn't drop dead.

Well, The Anti Games crowd are gonna be all over this. The problem is its too vague to pinpoint how this guy died. So yeah the media is gonna have a field day when this story breaks out.Alot of news stations are probably gonna leave out details if there given like if he had any health problems to make games look bad.I gotta grab my sword and prepare for the attack.
It is impossible to kill yourself from lack of sleep, you simply pass out and then... sleep.
Along with that, a 12 hour sitting in a chair session of gaming would require little more effort than sleeping, so if gaming for 12 hours kills you, then sleeping would.

No, he had to have had some underlying medical condition. Especially if he did manage to stop for at least half an hour.
I'm willing to wager the kid died of a blood clot or something that he could have gotten anyway. It just happened to materialize while he was at teh PCBang.
