Even if they reduce the classic space invaders game to one shot of one scene it might be too much...
Even if we don't, where's the creativity?
I'd sooner see a movie entitled "Space Evaders" than "Space Invaders" even if they were based off of the same concept, because as someone once said blatant copying is the foundation of the entertainment industry, and I think a thin disguise takes some originality, or forethought at least.

This is genuinely sad. Holywood has officially run out of ideas.
Of course ill probably see it, it will be like going to see an ed wood production.
What i genuiunely want is for the sound track to be authentic to the source material.

I can see how they could make a movie based off this game. There are tons of story content to work with here. There is character development, and plot twists. After they are done, they could make Asteroids the movie as well.

And there really are no similarities to the game save the slightly modified title. As a film major I find this to be a ridiculous waste of time and money. Why not give me, or a few of my buddies who have new material a chance. *le sigh*
Why the hell do you need to acquire the licence? The Space Invaders theme is sufficiently non-specific that you can bas a movie on it and nobody can sue you as long as you don't explicitly state it's based on SI. There's no backstory or mythos to use. What exactly does one acquire when buying the "Space Invaders" licence?
Sweeeeeet. We need more movies with aliens (likely from space) coming to Earth in agressive fashion (you might say invading).
And for the record, if they do come rank and file, even briefly? It will be the greatest movie ever.
I think the generic nostalgia-borne classics are the way to go for video game movies. There's absolutely nothing there to mess up.

Yeah, facepalm or even facedesk sounds about right. How does anyone think this is a good idea?
But yeah, the Futurama episode (Must've been "Anthology of Interest", either 1 or 2) had the gist of it, and that was enough (I thought it was hilarious, but seriously... an *entire* Space Invaders movie?).

How the HELL will that work?! Space Invaders have you shoot waves of baddies moving at increasing speed and Missile Command has you blow up missiles. Neither would make very interesting movies.
Both are a blast to play though.
