It's a silly idea.

I mean really, what black person is named Peter Parker?

If it was Shaft Parker I would accept it!

Who cares if he auditions they won't cast a black man or an asian man or any man that isn't 100% white. R-Patz is gonna play the new Spider-man anyway.

Make it a black female and they can make a new "Spider-Man": "Black Widow" or something like that.

OT: A black Spider-Man would've been interesting, provided that the actor is good.

Not sure about the whole black spiderman thingy (he was white in the comics and should stay this way....otherwise it's just weird)...i like Dong Lover (ha thanks for making that joke Don) though so it is a good choice when it comes to the actor.

I don't care, just so long as the actor can act.

It will be confusing for those not following the movie however.
I have to agree. What good would come from casting a white actor for Spiderman who can't act? I'd take something that defies canon but turns out well then a shitty tribute to the canon any day of the week.

EDIT:

I'll put it this way. Imagine it came down to the two actors below. I know it never would/should, but look at this before you post your answer

If these become the only two options, someone will die. Hell, a lot of people will die.
This would then mean either Michael Bay or George Lucus will get involved...just no. No.
Just that you would even think that there is a remote chance he would become an option...
GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME,DEMON!
[sub][sub][sub][sub]I'd still want Shia. Unless they went with my previously posted idea about the Noir era and do the movie then. I just wouldn't see it with Shia. Yeah, I like canon[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

There is already a black widow. Seen Iron Man 2 yet?

Actually I haven't. I need to see it one time though.

He's a great actor no doubt, and I wouldn't mind a black actor playing spider-man, it could make things a little interesting.

Seriously, WHO CARES if he's black or white. Oh he's white in the comics so he has to be white in the movies. No he doesn't. It doesn't matter. I think it would be awesome if there was a black spiderman. Considering how utterly awful the white spiderman movies were (well mostly just number 3)

Oh, so you're basing the entire series on one movie?
Was Matrix any less good because it had sequels that were worse?
Yes, it does. Canon is an important thing. Seeing as Marvel likes to mess with it and make it more confusing, I'd rather the movies (which aren't messed with as often) stay true to the original comics.
If he's a nerdy white boy in the comics, he should be a nerdy white boy in the movie.
Blade shouldn't be white, Spidey shouldn't be black.

We had a Black Green lantern, and that worked wonderfully well. I'd be down to seeing a black Spider Man, if the role fit. Though, he'd have to black and nerdy, though, otherwise the figure just doesn't hold in mind. Though...what if he were the Lizard, or Doc Ock? That might be a better fit, no?

A black Osbourn (sp) family would be awesome! Black Dr. Doom (he's a spidey villain) wold be another cool one.

Dr. Doom the Fantastic Four crossover villain? Or was there a Dr Doom I managed to miss somewhere?

If he DOES get to play Spiderman, well then it won't be confusing, it will just be a parralel universe and not the canon marvel universe

Lol Uncle Ben, and Aunt Jemima! They would be his family.
I laughed. Every time he mentioned Uncle Ben in the comics or movies or whatever, I was always thinking about rice. Every single time.

My issue is "Why do we need a reboot of a three film franchise that didn't start in the 80s and hasn't turned into a trainwreck of brightly colored morons?"

Spider-Man is about a guy who suffers a great tragedy through his own selfishness and inaction. And it's that guilt that drives him to ensure that never happens to anyone else ever again... all while trying to be a normal guy and live a normal life. Nothing about that requires him to be white. At all.

Peter Parker is a nerdy white kid. What are you trying to say with that? Like... if he's black he has to wear platinum chains, listen to hip hop, and be the star running back of the high school football team?

Yeah, you're right. It's all about the character their personal development and the challenges they face, that helps us identify with them and draw us towards them.
Though the platinum wielding, hip-hop brandishing all-star would be a funny twist.
But I'm a bit of a purist. I prefer Venom coming from space instead of being created in a lab by Parker's and Brock's dads. I like Nick Fury being a built Mel Gibson with a white streak of hair. I like Beast being a gorilla-man thing instead of a humanoid cat creature.
I'm not against the characters new revisions, I just prefer the old ways. I am open to new ideas and am more than willing to give Parker a chance at being a different ethnicity. Whether it be African American, Japanese, or Hispanic. Just don't mess it up more than Raimi messes up the 3rd movie.

That Dr. Doom. Originally he was a Spidey villain, but he has become associated with the Fantastic Four. The DD in the FF movie was pathetic. HE DOESN'T HAVE ELECTRIC POWERS!

Beast was blue when Storm joined the team(and when he was on the Avengers, Giant Size X-men 1 I believe was when Storm joined, and Beast had a guest appearance a few issues later.), it was an extension of his mutation affecting his hair, turning him into a blue gorillia. I agree he shouldn't be a cat. While it wasn't at first, I'd still count it as the old ways.

I don't neccesarily support changing a characters ethnicity. A Spider-man who's suddenly a different race could drastically alter the core of the character. That's not racism, it's good old fashioned nerd rage at change for changes sake.

Of course I'm not one to talk. I wrote up a storyline for a black version of Superman and tried to get it developed. So what do I know?

Given Fact: The man can act.
But his backstory is a lot more defined than Nick Fury and other examples. It would be difficult to twist certain parts of the story.
As Spiderman, he certainly can. As Peter Parker... that's up to the screenwriter.
