OK, after finishing massaging my temples for a decent length of time, I have come to a decision. Tomorrow, I'm going to talk to the queen, and we're going to take away America's right to Democracy. We will reinstate a dictatorship. A proper one, one with secret police that drag away dissenters and cause a pall of fear across the US.

Maybe, in this way, you people can keep your FUCKING POLITICS OUT OF EVERYTHING!
For the record, as an American who is studying government, I have this to say: Please do! Free us from these right-wing nut jobs who, despite not being in office, still run the country! I'll raise the Union Jack to welcome the liberating forces who come to claim the land in the name of the crown!

On a less serious note: UPS boycotted Glen Beck because there was a threat of a significant boycott against UPS by a significant number of individuals and businesses organized by The Color of Change (?), an activist group who works towards the equality of racial minorities. Stardock's change of prefered shipper (which is interesting because they're experimenting with direct-download services) is not going to be enough to warrent an internal memo at UPS.

Ah, the joys of make a stand on a very precise point.

I can see why Stardock is doing this: they're boycotting a company because they don't want to be associated with a company that makes a political point of pulling it's ads from another company because of what one person associated with that company said.

Which is commendable in theory. In practice, Stardock's position is so precise and pedantic, hardly anyone can distinguish it as being anything other than a show of support for the view that caused UPS to pull in the first place. Namely, that Stardock fully supports Glenn Becks's outburst and is punishing UPS for opposing it. Not true, but maybe Stardock should've quietly dropped UPS if they care so much and given some other reason for doing so.

After all, Mr. Wardell says what he's unhappy about is UPS trumpeting it's politics with it's advertising, so why would he want to do likewise and be seen as a hypocrite by those few who bother to understand his point in the first place?

Looks like it's time to boycott Stardock.
I think I already have a good start on that; as unintentional as it is.

I like the line: "I'm not a huge fan of FOX. But as a conservative, it is nice that there's one station where my values aren't ridiculed."
It's Fox News that make conservative values a target of ridicule. Guys like Beck and Oreilly make conservatives look like raving lunatics.

I actually like some of the conservative values (small government, conservation of resources, and fiscal conservatism), it's just too bad vocal conservatives have dumped them all for selective religious morals, racism, and class warfare.
This. Nice post.

My wife works for Stardock, I've been hating that company and it's idiot engineer-cum-ceo before it was cool to hate them. Oh well glad to see a few more people on the bandwagon.

Inb4 bullshit, this guy fired 12 people (in one of the shittiest economies btw) in 2008 because of the way the arbitrarily make up departments, shove people in them, then fire them if they don't make money. Meanwhile he granted more then 4 million as a Christmas bonus to himself.
Gotta say so what, of course he fired 12 people in a shitty economy. Companies move people around then fire them all the time. Happened to my dad, went from flying 737s to the MD80 md80 got phased he got canned. You don't need ppl for X move them to Y, Y doesn't work fire them. Of course idk the details of stardocks laying off but i'm sure there's a reason.

Regarding CEO pay, his company he can do what he wants, maybe he can pull an obama and say I saved 12 other jobs though :p

So next time you decided to hop up on your soap box and say that fox news is a bias piece of crap(which it is) just remember that can be said about any major new network.
Right, so you decide things are biased because they're made by a news programme.

THE ONLY FORM OF UN-BIAS INFORMATION IS DEBATE!! Because you have both sides of the argument available. So you can pick and choose the bits of information you like to form an educated opinion
And then you push your own view.

Isn't that what every other person does? And if you really think debate is unbiased, I would ask you to look at half the posts in Off Topic. Pick and mix the bits you like, regardless of the truth, to form an "educated" position.

I think you may mean research to find an educated position, but that's just my idea.

I'm an American, and even I think this might actually be a decent idea.

Excellent. You two shall be lieutenants (WHICH WILL BE PRONOUNCED LEFT-TENNANT!). You may have a state each. You can have anywhere except the thirteen states of New England, which will become my pleasure-palace.

*sigh* even Bobby Kotick keeps his mouth shut about his political views, especially over something so trivial as who sends your mail.

At least we know what Kotick's political views are, anything connected with evil.

Faux News is unabashedly biased. I'm positive the James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies was based off Rupert Murdoch and most likely based on a true story.

Glenn Beck is probably the worst person on that channel, and what he said is obviously not true and inflammatory. I wouldn't want to be associated with him either.

Perhaps having the same views as someone who says that U.S. President Barack Obama is a racist "with a deep-seated hatred for white people" should have told you something, Mr. Wardell.

Namely that you're views co-align with a news station that trivializes issues, broadcasts mistruths and spouts hate speech.

Perhaps, and this is just a theory, your views might be, dare I say, [small]wrong?[/small]
And I guess you think MSNBC or CNN doesn't spread "mistruths and spouts hate speech" against Conservatism? Give me a break. If you are American and spend any time watching your news broadcasts you are going to be retarded.

And how can someones views be wrong? he even said he didn't care about a schmuck spouting crap. He cares that there is only one news channel he can watch without feeling insulted. So give him a break you elitist twat.

Only if you lap up what they say like a dog. Fun fact: You can watch a news program and not agree with everything that's being said! Crazy, I know.

And how can someones views be wrong?
Oh come on. Seriously? You're seriously asking that question?

He cares that there is only one news channel he can watch without feeling insulted". This is his view? Is he wrong? I my have over generalized but atleast I read the fucking post!

He just said "where my values aren't ridiculed." He did not say, "I agree with everything that comes out of Glen Beck's mouth."

A lot of people are more have more complicated opinions than 100% liberal or 100% conservative. He just doesn't like being belittled or insulted. I think we can all relate.

Maybe the real reason he boycotted UPS was because Glen Beck makes him feel smart and culturally sensitive by comparison.

Wardell's a conservative who doesn't support drm? Isn't that a massive contradiction?
Why would you say that? If anything, I think the case could be made that DRM falls more in line with a liberal solution to the problem.
from my limited understanding drm feel more like a conservative tool than something from the left wing but our goverment in the uk have skewed that whole idea as is evidenced by the idea to discconect peoples isp's for file sharing. P.s. i'm actually convinced that the guy who had that bright idea is actually the devil.
