I actually read something related to this not too long ago. Employers often advertise positions a second time because there weren't enough applicants the first time around. This was an article about how the amount of people applying for a position as a principal in a few schools were too low. There were only 2 applicants for one of the positions. Now I am no mathematician here, but aren't two applicants twice as many as you need to fill the position?TopazFusion said:]I totally agree.
In fact, if anyone's picky it's the employers. Since I've applied for positions, and been turned down, only to find the exact same position re-advertised again a short time later.
So whoever that employer is, they obviously just didn't like the selection of applicants, and decided to turn down everyone and re-advertise the position again (or that's my theory anyway). Also this. A thousand times this.Yopaz said:The job market sucks and it's hard to get a job unless you have experience and you can't get experience if you can't get a job.
This particular 'catch 22' is really annoying. And thank youYopaz said:I wish you the best of luck getting a job![]()
Yeah, I was paying rent for my apartment, having no income, surviving only on savings accumulated over the years and having to pay for plane tickets in order to get to a job interview as soon as possible. The interview went great, I managed to make a good first impression and keep it up throughout the interview. Lack of experience made me lose the job to the only other participant there was. Out of two suited applicants I lost. The end result was that I had even less money. At that point I realized I should just minimize my expenses and give up on looking for a job until after my education is done. I know they are screaming for more people in my field so hopefully things will get better once that happens.Ryotknife said:Ah....I know that feeling. When I first came out of college was right when the recession hit. Applied to literally hundreds of jobs. It got to be that I was going to need to take a SECOND job just to AFFORD to go to job interviews across the country.
History has taught me that every country has its moments of pure stupidity in its ruling class that make future generations weep in sorrow...and I'm tired of waiting for that moment to pass.Souplex said:There was at one point rationality in politics?CleverCover said:I want some rationality back in my government and it bothers highly me that it won't happen. No, that's impossible.

I understand. I didn't mean to come off as too abrasive, it's just like it seems that whenever someone is corrupt/very stupid, people just chalk it off as, "Oh, well they're American, so it makes sense." You do have a point though. It seems like whenever someone here does do something really corrupt/stupid, they do tend to push it a little further than the rest of the world.Strazdas said:well, to be fair, a EU politician accidentaly voted for his colegue sitting nearby - he decided to apoligize by quitting. a US politician deliberaly voted for 7 others trying to psuh his opinion - his pay was cut by 30% and he does not even believe he was guilty.
jut wanted to ilustrate WHY all the hate is there. i agree that politicians are dicks everywhere, but its how they react afterwards that make people go up in arms.
Yes, just like that, it really really makes me mad. It could be partially my fault for having an awesome tattoo that makes them jealous. God it just angers me...Syzygy23 said:You mean like this?: http://www.eatliver.com/i.php?n=7305klown said:There is something I'm fed up with actually. Me... I'm fed up with a lot of things. Mostly the lack of decency and proper manners most people greet me with.
Teach your kids some god damn respect before I have to for you. My methods aren't exactly considered pillow therapy either.
definitions of "sleazeay" can varyShanicus said:Alas, not as many sleazy webcomics as you'd think doing the fanservice thing (It's surprisingly hard to do fanservice in a sleazy comic, considering... well, everyone's usually naked anyway).
Magickchicks is a good example of the 'lesbians for fanservice rather than point/just cause' - it's an all-girls school, and basically the entire population save 4 are lesbians (1 of those 4 is bi and the other is possibly a lesbian too, so... yeah).
[sub]I can scrounge around for my sleazy links if you really want them though...[/sub]
Well, seeing as it's meaning is not explained to someone outside of Germany (unless you do research), that's what most people will assume, since the Nazis was the last time the general public (ouside of Germany) got to see the Eagle. You can't try and act confused and innocent when people ask you those things, since it's obvious a lot of people will. It's like wearing a buddhist swastika on your arm. Even though you know it's got nothing to do with nazis (The nazi swastika is turned the other way around) you still have to assume that some people don't know that, or realise what it is at a quick glance.klown said:There is something I'm fed up with actually. You know, the kind where you can feel their bitterness in every word and everything is about how the world scorns their boner. Yawn. /flameshield up.
Also fed up with technology breaking all the time. Laptop is currently broken, having to use boyfriend's computer and the Xbox decided to be dramatic this morning and crash a few times. It's fine now, but for how long is anybody's guess.

I was worried it'd come across a little like that. I don't have anything against feminism, I'm for equality, hell, if females have an equal chance at becoming politicians, it may increase the chance that we may someday end up with a prime minister/president who isn't either stupid or just an intentional prick.
It just feels like anytime feminism comes up, it's shouting at me. It's like "The man seeks to harass women to satisfy his primal idiot cravings. YES YOU, MUTHAFUCKA. GO APPLY YOUR PENIS TO AN OVEN HOB YOU PIG." Maybe it's the problem I always have that if a piece of criticism about a group applies even slightly to me, I take it as if it was fully aimed at me, but that's how it feels.
But I am bitter. Come on, at least let me have that.
There is a difference between using a symbol that was once used by the Nazis, and having an eagle that is on the flag 50% of the time even today. I do give it a bit of leeway, some people may not know, but it's gone past that, and not just because they see my tattoo.IamQ said:Well, seeing as it's meaning is not explained to someone outside of Germany (unless you do research), that's what most people will assume, since the Nazis was the last time the general public (ouside of Germany) got to see the Eagle. OT: My bad spending habbits. I'm saving for a PC, but I've been stuck on 5k SEK (Around 540$) for ages, and I need at least 9k for the computer I want.
