I think one of the popes in the 1100's banned using Crossbows against Christian armies. Something to do with English crossbowmen massacring French knights and Nobles during some battle.

I'd heard once that Donald Duck comics were banned in Finland due to the lack of pants.
That's actually a pretty common misconception [http://www.snopes.com/disney/films/finland.asp]

Things get banned all the time. Sometimes its for legitimate reasons. Other times the reasoning behind seems to of been done by someone with half a brain.

The stupidest i can think of is when china banned football manager 05' for portraying Tibet as a country. China does a lot of stupid stuff but cmon'!
Banning girls in video games 4-6 years ago. Cmon guys, we just want to play too. :3
I require a source.

OT: At the moment, I've got nothing.

...What?

No, seriously, explain this one to me. I've never heard of this before.
It was more of a being banned from video games for being a girl kind of thing. Not so much a big widespread ban. But it's relevant enough to mention, as it's probably the only one I've been subject to or that's really affected me. :3

Sorry for the confusion there. :3
Ok, so it was more of a douche bag server admin than law then. That makes a lot more sense now.

That's what I get for getting my news from alternative rock radio stations.

Well, I was originally going to say Prohibition, so I guess I'll offer that as a replacement. It really was the perfect example of the cure being worse than the disease.

Yeah...not sure I'd use those words, but "girls cant play games, *bans" basically sums it up. :/

I'm not alone in that experience either. Which is sad but also is a bit of a relief that other women might know what it's like. :3
How many times has that happened?

OT: I remembered something, there was a school that banned the oxford dictionaries because they had curse words.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true

OT: One time over here in America, I was playing laser tag with my brother-in-law and my nephews. The lady at the counter asked what name I should be given, because at the end of a game, points are tallied among players and are placed on a ranking board. I chose my XBOX LIVE name, GUNMAN003. She then told me that the word "gun" wasn't allowed in the names.

Really? What the hell do you call the thing that shoots lasers then? That's just ridiculous. You're telling me that people actually get offended by the word "gun"?

Bullrush. Anyone else remember that game? And we used to play it on concrete. Kids were hardier in those times ;-)

Alcohol. Prohibition was so silly. And now we're seeing the same thing happen with weed.
the difference being, weed was never legal in the first place.

That scene loses so much of what made it serious when you get told that underneath luke is a pile of mattresses.

OT:

My school banned colourful socks. SOCKS. Also colourful underwear, dyed hair (on blokes, girls got away with it), long hair on guys was treated like a bad thing and many teachers openly insulted anyone who had long hair (of course they got insulted back, so no harm done really).

Why? It might distract other students. Thats right guys. My colourful socks are going to distract you. Sorry I fancied wearing bright red ones today. I hope I didn't mess up your class too much.

I'm so glad i'm at college now.

While it never actualy went through, there was a band of local mothers here who when I was a child tried to ban pop-tarts because children were burning thier tongues... I mean really?! If they are stupid enough to get burnt by a pop tart thats just natural selection at work.

Got you history abit muddled there. The Pope banned the use of crossbows esentially because it gave the commoners the ability to kill armoured nobles easily. The massacre was English longbowmen against French knights at the battle of Agincourt.

Dodgeball from schools.
Kickball from schools.
Pokémon from schools.
Media players from schools (even outside of class time).
Silverware from schools.
Basically anything that schools have ever banned that wasn't drug or weapon-related.

Flat chests in Australia.
Violent video games in Australia.
Lolicon, shotacon, and all other types of porn that doesn't involve real people in any given part of the world, which means Australia again.
Half of the things banned in Australia.
Is Australia even allowed to look at this site? You may want to check to see if it is on the banned list.
