They banned the use of any electronic device besides a calculator during school hours. I understand some of it but then there's the walking into another, less frustrating teacher's room and telling their students what to do.
So you couldnt use lights, pencil sharpeners, clocks and computers (among other such common devices)? Wow... school must have been rough.

OT: Speaking of schools, I got something banned at my school once. For the longest time we werent allowed to bring keys to school. The school had Heard I had gotten jumped over the weekend, and I had stabbed someone with a key in defense, so they said no one could brings key of any kind, pens, or non wooden pencils.

... it was an interesting month.

A children's book that is a true story of two male penguins in a zoo who coupled and adopted an egg together, meant to help children of same sex couples understand the uniqueness of their family wasn't evil or unnatural.

People went APESHIT over the gay penguin story, and banned it in many places. *Facepalm*
My school actually made a puppet show for kids about that story. I voiced Silo.
That sounds AMAZING!

Alcohol. Prohibition was so silly. And now we're seeing the same thing happen with weed.
the difference being, weed was never legal in the first place.
Um, yes it was. Hell, George Washington grew cannabis on his plantations way back in the day.

There were no laws passed restricting marijuana in the US until 1906, and even then that was only in the District of Columbia. A national law wasn't passed until 1937.

Pokemon cards were banned in our primary school, just because we never put the things down and would battle and trade in class, but you were'nt allowed them in the playground either.

Same deal with Cocaine. Where do you think the word "Coca-Cola" came from? Back then it was REALLY REALLY REALLY TASTY.

That deserves it because it's a really, really shitty book.

OT: When I was in school they banned "We Are the Champions" from being played at football games because the year before the band started it up with less than 30 seconds left with our school ahead in the State Championship and lost the game in the next 20 seconds.

Didn't they ban Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs from the United States on the grounds that "It's like hiding something within something else, so it teaches kids about contraband".

If not that reason then for some other reason. I just know I heard that they banned them.
They banned them because kids were choking on them i think

My schools ban's work by seeing frequented sites, and ban hammering them, I think if it gets visited five or so times, the school site was banned so there were no announcements for a week and no teachers had anything for us to do in class because it just so happened that half of what they relied on for their lesson plans was banned for student computers. Best day of school ever, we just played cards while they went around trying to unban enough sites to function like a school.
now everything is banned until unbanned, so we have a really shitty time doing research since our library only has 50 books, our magazines are dated sports magazines, we're not allowed to leave campus during school hours, and three of our six teachers consider wikipedia untrustworthy and in creditable for information so we have like... fifteen rare sites that can give us information on our topics when we are in school... Under this, I base the words, school is a big fucking waste of my time since I seriously cannot get 1/10th of my assignments done there.

Replica Firearms in the UK. It is Illegal to buy a toy gun that hasn't been garishly painted or is made of clear plastic to make it extremely obviously fake. Which sort of defeats the whole damn point.

Also while not outright banned there are very tight restrictions on carrying around a Swiss Army Knife. Almost any other type of knife is banned. Less stupid in that it has a point, but it's a pain in the ass if you're a Pirate, Ninja, or door-to-door knife salesman.

I kinda' agree with that one. There's this 12 year old couple at my school who practically mount each other ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

It get's quite... weird
yeah the kids who sit behind me in lunch (well not technically kids as it is high school but whatever) spend the entire lunch period basically doing striptease dances, mounting each other, and so on. its weird because it makes me feel like im violating someone's privacy. even if i dont look.

other than that, half the crap banned in schools.

Very probably and I tip my hat to you, sir.

OT: As for me, I say Surge, the drink. There is no legitimate reason to throw that out when we have high octane energy drinks. Hell, we actually HAVE Powerthirst now, the drink that was just a joke spread online!

Also this, I am not Australian, but this is just fucking stupid.
I find it funny Australia is so uptight about things considering Britan just shipped all its convicts there.
yeah, it's a bit ironic isnt it?
