I think it would be funny to walk into a gamestop and see someone trying to download it on Pokemon red on a GBC(Gameboy Color).

This is just a post responding to a bunch of questions, so it's going to be long. Before I get to those, I just want to say that, as a long time player of pokemon, that while I would like these event-only pokemon to be catchable in the games, at least they're not making you buy stuff.

What does he mean "traded into March 14's"? whats traded into, and can we get jirachi on Pokegold and silver, what does the jirachi thing have to do with Pokegold and silver anyhow
Jirachi is only available for download on Diamond/Perl/Platinum, but if you trade it to HG/SS then you can unlock a special pokewalker course. Jirachi will only be available for download until March 13th.

For all you people who don't live in the US, you are unfortunately unable to get this Jirachi. Nintendo will probably have another event similar to this for other regions, although you may have to wait a little bit. If you want more information about events, you can go here [http://serebii.net/games/currentevents.shtml]. Te page is updated frequently, so you will see when certain evets come around.

Wow. Things have certainly changed. I MUST GET HIM! I have never gotten a rare pokemon other then mew, who is still by far the best pokemon IMO.

Anyways, I forgot how this works. When I go to gamestop do I have to use some sort of code, buy something, or just go in to get it? I am slightly confused. Also, can you get more then one or just one? I have never been online, since I do not have a wireless internet.

Also another stupid question, how do I get wireless internet? Any thirdparty type deals out there for it?

Does it cost money?

Kinda confused how this all works. Someone please clarify
For you people that are confused by how this works, have no fear, it rather easy. The DS has wifi capability built in, so you don't need to buy any peripherals. Just go to your local Gamestop and make sure they are hosting the event (there's usually a poster somewhere). Once you've confirmed this, turn on your version of D/P/Pt, but instead of selecting the "continue" option after the title screen, go down and select "mystery gift". You then select "receive via wireless" and the DS will automatically download the pokemon. After that, you go to a pokemart and talk to the guy in front of the counter to get the Jirachi (make sure to have an empty spot in your party).

You don't need to buy anything or even talk to anyone to get Jirachi, so don't worry about it.

Also, quick question: Will only a Jirachi obtained from this promo open up the road, or will any Jirachi do?
You do need this Jirachi to unlock the special pokewalker course in HG/SS. Already having a Jirachi in the game you download this Jirachi to won't be an issue, but other Jirachi won't unlock the course.

Yeah, I went to EB Games today and I won't get it anyways, the Nintendo Representative doesn't care as much I suppose (as in they haven't even set up the stations)

Well, the stations won't be set up until the 27th, so you may want to go back on Saturday, that is, unless they said they weren't having the event at all. I do know that some stores don't get the stations, but I haven't seen that happen in a while.

Man, I want it so badly, but...I just can't picture myself walking up to the counter at 17 years old and telling the girl "Yes, one Jirachi, please" and pulling a Pokemon-loaded DS out of my pocket. I think I'd die of embarassment.
Unfortunately, at the same age, I will totally be doing exactly that. Maybe you can die of embarassment for me... Of course, since the guys behind the counter know me... maybe they won't laugh too much...

Different subject : So is it possible to trade between the Platinum version and the Soul Silver/Heart Gold versions? Because my friend was expressing serious doubts because "they're remakes of the old games so it probably won't work." I'm just wondering, because I have some pokemon I don't want to lose.

Man, I sound like a nerd...

There will be instructions there in the store also.

Also: Anyone who says the original 150/151/250/251 Pokemon were the best is provably wrong, as the first two generations lacked Metagross, who is clearly the best Pokemon ever. Giant psychic robot thing? How can you top that?
Magikarp will splash like you wouldn't believe.

Since you seem to be very knowledgeable on this subject: Do you know if this is a Canadian thing too? I know the UK or somewhere else far away wouldn't get it, but if I went to my local Canadian Gamestop, do you know if they'd be running it? Hopefully it's a North America-wide thing...Any info would be appreciated. :)
It's been registered as a North American event, so you should be able to get it in Canada. You should make sure that the store you're going to will be hosting the event. You can usually call the stores to find out, so you might want to do that.

How do I get wireless internet at my home? I live on a farm in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. I use D-Link router with cable.
You have to go directly to a Gamestop to get this Jirachi, you can't just get it from a wifi connection. Since you have to be at an actual store, though, you don't have to worry about conectivity issues. See my earlier post for more information.

You'll be able to trade between the various games, but you won't be able to trade pokemon that know moves exclusive to a particular game. For a quick example, Scizor is able to learn Bullet Punch in HG/SS, but not D/P/Pt, so you can't trade one from HG/SS if it knows Bullet Punch. aside from a few minor differences, the games are fully compatable with each other.

Sure, Jirachi is good to get and all but wasn't Pokemon channel there to do that basically?
A lot of people will use cheats to get him anyways, if they haven't done so already. -cough-I did-cough-

Awesome, thanks.

Ona different note... I went to the local Gamestop and asked if they were having the event, but apparently it's exclusively in America. I wasn't sure if America meant North America or the United States of America. Nope, just the good ole US of A. Oh well. So listen-er, read up, all you Canadians. No Jiraichi for us! Guess it's time to make some friends... X3
