its sort of sad that I see horrible things like this all the t9me and think "ell gee, thats terrible." but can't really evoke any other response. Too much of humanities bad side is shown through news that I've become desensitized to it. Not that im not saying it isn't bad, its jsut that its become commonplace.
I have the same problem. Any news site or channel or paper will have the headlines exclusively for sad, disgusting, slanderous, or depressing news. It just doesn't affect anybody anymore. They need to put more victorious stories in the news to keep the balance.
the most eye grabbing news is the most horrifying. So, unless someone wants to wake Cthulhu then we just have to deal with psychopaths.

The report claimed the incident, which actually took place on August 9, was one of "many unusual acts of violence" committed by teenagers this summer.
Maybe theres something in the drinking water?! D:

OT: That guy overreacted. Big time. And I hope that the girl is alright.
"Maybe theres something in the drinking water?! D:"

^^ Somebody's poisoned the water hole! (Cookie for reference)

OT: As others have said, the reference to gaming seems to have just been thrown in there to stir things up, the story is just as logical if it had said "the internet cut off while he was using it" etc etc.

Oh My God. It's okay to love a game, but really? If I did that everytime my connection went down, the basement would stink like hell.

The media can't be serious, if anything they should be praising Starcraft for keeping this psychotic from slaughtering people before this incident with his internet.

So, does Sweden not teach their people conflict resolution or stress management techniques?
Out of curiosity; does any country teach their citizens conflict resolution or stress management? It's not normal here in England, is it done elsewhere?
No, no country teaches any sort of conflict resolution through their schools or training through the media.

If we went by our schools, conflict resolution is committing the crime and getting our parents blamed for it. Pass the buck.

If we went by our media, conflict resoluton (for us Americans) is to go around and kick the crap out of anybody we don't like. And if it's a country (only recently) rally a bunch of hate and fear propaganda, and bomb the shit out of anyone who disagrees with us.

Well, people stab people when they have no money to buy booze. People stab others when their girlfriend dump them. So it wont probably be blamed on a game.
I feel sorry for the girl. I would like to kill that guy with my bare hands for doing something like that.
I don't go killing when my internet brakes down!
You just go killing when someone else goes looney? Yeah, I always found that my killing time gets interrupted constantly by all those damn choices of people to go after.

How will beating the guy to death solve this problem? The girl will still be cut up. The media will just have one more story against the gaming community, and you will be in jail or on death row.

Unless you were just being ironic and I missed it.

It's just a matter of time time.

The world is slowly succumbing to the internet...and when it's gone...what will happen..

Also, what an idiot...it's a game.....

I just know Mr. Jack Thompson will use this in his case against gamers.

I hope this guy lets locked up for a long time for what he did to that girl, and more importantly the stress he's about to have us all go through.

Seriously, that's messed up.

I would expect that from a Korean, y'know how nuts they are over Starcraft, but a Swede? I know they're effin' messed up, but this is pushing it.

oh for christ's sake. what the hell is wrong with people?
The question is answered in the object. People is what's wrong with people. They're (for the most part) not in control of their own emotions, because they've been allowed to just let them go for so long. This is for the average population, not for cases of mental illness which makes things worse.

So his internet connection died in the middle of a match, and he decides to go and stab a 15 year old girl, multiple times, because he couldn't finish building that last supply depot. He's obviously unstable, but we all know that it will be spun into "The video games made him do it! We found a gamer, may we burn them?" Well, time for the ignorant masses to sit in their rooms with their duct taped windows, watching Fox News demonize gamers once again.
For a species that has the capability of splitting the atom, and replicating the power of the sun, we're not a very bright species.
Take note that we split the atom and replicate the power of the sun to destroy eachother. Maybe we are brighter than we thought. If everyone's so stupid and we all kill eachother, then maybe doing it quickly is a point in our favor.

I'd understand if Starcraft wasn't potentially ancient as far as games go...
Surely he must have had a few internet hiccups in the time he's owned it...
Where was his actual reason to go out on an entirely premeditative rampage with a knife?

I mean, "He no intent to kill her"?

He left the house with a knife in a (needless) fit of rage...
He was out to KILL someone, just because he didn't have a specific target in mind before leaving doesn't mean the overall intent towards a potential victim was any different...

Guy deserves time for attempted murder, none of this manslaughter bullshit.

The only "funny" part of this is the way it's presented in translation, it's fun when people make something more dramatic by writing it like it's a slasher novel.

Jesus friggin christ what the hell goes on in some people's heads? Maybe we should sponsor mental health checks before people actually start playing games.

Looks like punching a pillow has been replaced with Stabbing Teenagers as a stress reliever.
This made my day.

Anyway...

I wish I could see the expression on the attacker's face when his internet was dropped. How the hell does one come to stabbing someone due to a Fischer Price modem?

"Gee, my game dropped. I guess this means I will have to go stab a 15 year old girl."
Does he do that every time?
