Cary-Hariyuki Togawa of Mortal Kombat and other movies, unrecognized? You seriously need some movie schooling, son.
I find most videogame movies go wrong by changing the setting and establishing some new plot out of their butt. Tekken is a fighting game, with the movie staying in the arena I see potential.

This actually looks pretty good.

Then again, if you watch Dead or Alive as a comedy, that's good too.
You sir, win a cookie. Enjoy it well.
Sometimes it is how you approach the movie. Don't set your sights too high, and if at first you don't succeed, try a different angle.

Well i was pleasantly surprised to see that the actors at least resemble their Tekken counterparts. But ye since its not exactly a hollywood picture n they obviously didnt get hong kong choreographers its obviously gona fail. At least failing to deliver the awesomeness of Tekken.
But it still looks like a decent action flick. Only time will prove me wrong :O

P.p: Yes Mortal Combat 1 was a super cool movie. the fights Scorpion vs Johny Cage and Luy Kan vs Reptile are eternaly engraved in my brain :O

Not that bad? Compared to what? Seems like your average, direct-to-DVD martial arts pulp.

And not to become, say, Super Mario Bros. (*twitch* *twitch*)
Repeat with me: there is no Super Mario Bros. movie! It does not exist! It was never made!

Look at it. Look at it I tell you. LOOK AT IT AND FACE REALITY!!! You must learn to accept history, and use it as a lesson to prevent similar horrible mistakes from being made.

It might end up with some good fights but I can't put much faith in the project as a whole.

Also I find it interesting that they put in a relatively new character like Raven and leave out a load of older characters.

This IS appaling, jeesh!
Tekken already has a movie, an animated one.

The Tekken "backstory" isn't meant as a premise for movies, doesn't everyone see that? :O

No, it's worse than appalling, it's horrific. Another one I won't be seeing. DOA was at least hilarious. This just looks stupid.

Eh. I'll probably see it, if only because it has Lateef Crowder playing the role that's friggin' meant for him. Hell, I've been calling him "the real life Eddy Gordo" for a while.

The fights do look all right, and while the acting seemed terrible for the most part ('cept maybe Jin), their take on the story doesn't immediately repulse me. Sounds like an okay shot at it so far.

Oh, and honestly this isn't the first attempt at this kind of thing. I've actually seen the Tekken Anime/OAV. This actually seems lightyears better.
Glad I wasn't the first to notice that.

well yeah Hwoarang isnt it. So ofcourse it's not going to be very good
There's a chance he will.
Why put a love interest when your protagonist HAS a Canon Love interest.
Jin has a love interest? Since when? He might be someone's love interest (toss a coin whether Xiaoyu is crushing on him or just friendly with him), but...

Okay Movie Directors let me break down a how to make a Tekken film.

A. It's not set in an arena it's up to the fighters to find one another and kick each others asses.
True. Maybe they're all in that one Tekken 5 stage with the hanging cars? Or maybe they heard "King of Iron Fist Tournament" and didn't immediately think "South Pole."

B. Jin is your protagonist, Hwoarang is his best friend and eternal rival, Xiaoyu is the love interest, Ogre is the Dragon, Heihachi is the Big Bad.
...it's Jin and Hwoarang, not Ryu and Ken. Jin doesn't give a damn about Hwoarang, and the former pisses the latter off.

C. Since those are our 3 protagonists the other fighters exist simply to get beaten up! Have some hilarious things like Bear knocking out Paul, or King Powerbombing Armour King, but outside of our core cast don't touch them
I'm sad, but that's probably true. Too many cameos can spoil the work.

D. Jin defeats Hwoarang and Xiaoyu, goes to fight Ogre, beats him, kills him (No need for True Ogre), Heihachi shows up, shoots him full of holes, Devil Jin vs Heihachi, Devil Jin flies off.
Wasn't it the other way around? I thought it was "Paul defeats Heihachi and leaves, Jin defeats Ogre, then gets riddled with bullets, cliffhanger ending, etc."

Reminds me of Blood Sport, but with Tekken Characters...
Funnily enough, I'm sold just thinking about it like that.

I honestly can't imagine that this can be good, but lord help me that trailer didn't suck at all.
I really wanna see it now.

Ah. Yeah, the stages and Hwoarang's inclusion in any form would definitely be more interesting. And I'll concede that I like Xiaoyu more than...wait. Who was the love interest in the trailer?

*watches again*

...please tell me that wasn't Christie. I love her, don't get me wrong, but I can't see her having any connection to Jin.

Actually now that I think about it it was "Paul beats Ogre, leaves before it transforms into True Ogre, Jin comes in and kills it, riddled with bullets, devil Jin, the end.

I am assuming this is a Tekken 3 based movie which seems the best place out of any to jump on. Also pulling off True Ogre seems to be the problem
Ah, right. I've gotten that wrong before, and someone's corrected me, but I'd forgotten in the meantime (I knew Paul did something badass but left too early).

And I'll concede that I'm not the most knowledge on earlier Tekken games. My knowledge begins at 4's ending, but you're right. This seems to be a starting point for Jin, so that would mean Tekken 3...

First, I've actually only seen Mortal Kombat 1, but I quite enjoyed it. Second, this could be entertaining. It needs to be the kind of movie where it's almost all awesome fight scenes, with some (not many) five minute "story scenes", perfect for going and getting more popcorn. And I really want to see the boxing kangaroo. And Devil Jin rip someones head off and burn there corpse to a cinder... And Gon. And all the weird characters. And Yoshimitsu.
