They've never screwed me over. Except I always have to ask about pre-order bonuses, if I want to get them. I've got friends who work there, though, so I often deal with them. But even online, my orders arrive earlier than expected, I get good service, and they always go out of the way to help out.

Heck, one of the employees even gave up his pre-order of a game, just so I could buy it. I didn't have it reserved. He just said "Hey, man, we don't have it in stock, but I had one pre-ordered for myself. You can have that one".

There are two Gamestops in my town, one is great, the people are nice and helpful and they have a good selection. They Were the only place on the western slope of Colorado that had El Shaddai. The other is a piece of crap. so it really varies from store to store. With that said that sucks dude, im sorry.

5 times they screwed you???

You must be a masochist.

Every company can make mistakes and whatnot. But if i get screwed more then once in a short time, im taking my business elswhere, i am not getting fucked 3 times by a(ny) company that doesn't care about being honest to it's customers. Plenty of compatition!

I've never had an issue with any Gamestop and there are two nearby I go to. Soon to be three. It may help that I went to school with one of the managers but even before he worked there I had no problems.

I had one minor issue when I picked up Space Marine last week. My preorder code didn't print. However, I knew it should have and they had said their internet was borked for a moment so I double checked before stepping out of line. Sure enough, no code, I informed the cashier and he promptly got the manager. He didn't know how to print the backup code for errors such as that as he had just started. The manager showed him and I got my new receipt. I was out the door with my game and code in under 10 minutes.

Question: Does Walmart have a preorder system? Are they reliable?

Because it seems like there are a whole lot of horror stories out there of people who have been screwed over by gamestop and I rather not do business with them.
Most posts in general are complaints. Gamestop wouldn't be in business if all of them were terrible. People rarely post complimentary threads. Basically what I am saying is don't trust the internet. We're all atheists, hate mongers, and pervs up in here.

It seems to me that Gamestops are hit and miss. The ones ive been to are rather nice, and Ive heard just as many good stories about them as i have bad.
Same thing...the one I go to works great...I've missed a few preorders CE's by like a day...but thats just because I'm slow.

This is the 5th time they screwed me over in a row.
That's your fault bro.

"fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me."
I cant believe I get to use this!

Full of sarcasm and amazingness to deal with the issue of being fooled more than 2 times. :D

Same deal with me. My Gamestop is always great. I also enjoy chatting with the employees. Heck, they recommended me Limbo, which I love dearly.

I order from amazon. Things are around 10 quid cheaper and if you pre order you get it on release date. Fuck Game and fuck Gamestation (Now owned by game and they scrapped the bargain bin, fuckers)
I pre-ordered the Sonic Generations Collector's Edition from Amazon the other day, and earlier today I got an email saying the delivery will be delayed by about 3 weeks. Their reasoning; Just because. I've never had any problems with Amazon before, but I'm not a satisfied customer right now.

And on the OT; my relationship with GAME is uneasy at best. I bought Homefront at one of their branches a few months back, and when I went to trade it in the very next day (on the grounds of it being shit), they refused to accept it because I couldn't provide a valid ID, despite the fact I had no less than 3 cards, with my name, date of birth and picture on them. Plus the fact that the guy who was refusing me my money back was the same bloody guy that sold me the damned game!

Wow that really sucks, I'd be pretty pissed too and if they dont give you your money back keep complaining until they do (or you could always sue them >:D)

I on the other hand have a good gamestop I frequent (to the point that the workers know my name >.>) and they have never once screwed me over and all the workers there are really nice and helpful and have given me awesome deals on stuff before ^-^ yet not all gamestops can be the same and I know that I go to one of the rare good gamestops but if you don't want to go there anymore because of this I won't blame you.

I generally buy my games from amazon nowadays, the games are generally much cheaper. I only buy hardware from retail as I dont want the hassle online if it turns out to be a dud.

Nowadays Ill generally just visit a store just to see what games are out at the moment, then walk away and buy it online (although I will buy retail if its dirt cheap or as part of a 3 for 2 deal)

Last time I walked into my local GAME store I noticed they were selling wireless 360 pads without an reciever in the PC section when I pointed out to the clerks that it wouldnt work as-is they wouldnt have it

I think this is pretty accurate. I just stopped by my local Gamestop to pay off a little on a preorder today. While I was there, I ended up talking to an employee about games for a while. Most of the ones I have frequented were fairly good. But I have heard of others that aren't. Seriously some friends went to one and as soon as they walked in, they were advised that they're on camera. Makes you feel welcome!

Amazon plus UPS is the best thing ever. It always comes on time and in good order.
Stopped buying from gamestop when I found out my dad bought a brand new copy of Psyconauts only for it to have a scratch on the disc and the book inside missing.

That's not new. It's used.
Just.....stop that.

Huh. I've always had good experiences at GameStop. My hometown GameStop people knew me by name, knew my tastes, and were generally nice to me (I was so very sad when they closed). The one I go to now, near my college, have all been really awesome. I got into a fifteen minute chat with one employee about BlazBlue. Instant respect, right there. I've never had any problems with getting my games or anything from either store.

And they don't get all creepy on me because of my gender. (Which is more than I can say about most of their customers, but still. It's something.)

I stopped going to gamestop a long time ago.

They've treated me like shit multiple times and made me fight for ridiculous things.

Once they sold me a "new" game, that was COMPLETELY scratched without any manual, I tried to return it immediately, and they gave me a hastle.

Fuck them, I'm done with them.

They're not even the cheapest on the market.
BestBuy / Futureshop is where I go when I need things new.

This is over multiple stores.

Normally I'm not the pre-order type guy or anything. Never had that kind of problem.

And usually I just go to Target, the nicer upscale version of WalMart to get my recent releases. Or Best Buy.

I only hit up Gamestop if I want a really old game. Like Okami or Shadow of the Colossus in mint condition.

Gamestop has never given me problems personally; every time I preordered a game, I got it. I mean hell, they held one of the last remaining copies of Bioshock (ps3 version) for me for almost two weeks and when I came back (when I had the money to buy it) they took it out of a drawer and I got it so that was completely awesome since I wasn't expecting it to still be there.
