Unfortunately, I've been in a bit of an art funk for the last few weeks, Which has managed to prevent me from entering the August Art competition, Sorry about that Labby.

Anyway, I've been working my arse off all day today try and least get one idea fleshed out by the end of the day, well It's slightly past the end of the day, but I managed to get someone done.

It was a hero idea I had while talking to a friend about Champions Online.

I present Cody Avvers, or you might call her...

she's basically a girl who lives in a village of dead people, turned into such by some surge of occult energy that transform and scarred her, but not before giving her the power to seperate her soul from her body and posessing people with it.

(Yeah, she's kinda like deadman, but with her own body that she can return to).

I figured an interesting character trait for someone with her power would be if she was really happy-go-lucky.

mainly because she's some-what experienced death, so she's got nothing else to worry about.

Well until the government commandos known as "The Coroners" come into it.

Sorry to double post, but it seems I've had a sudden gush of inspiration with this new character of mine.

I realise her legs are and feet are a bit screwed, but I'm still not very good at general poses.
something I'm working on. (In fairness though, she is a walking corpse, she's allowed to have screwy legs :D)

I'm thinking on continuing this with a few more skills and traits, but I'm not gonna force it, because I want this to remain fun.
Till then, enjoy.

Here is where all my art is (the good stuff). I've been having a block lately, but hopefully once I finish moving it will be easier to get out the art supplies. I like working with a number of different materials (charcoal, pencil, ink, watercolor, acrylic, etc) and hopefully I can learn how to use photoshop and other computer related art programs. :)

Okay, I found the poems. Most of them I wrote in high school. This is my favorite of those.

Have you ever walked?
Have you ever walked alone?
Have you ever walked alone at night,
With the moon right by your side?

I HAVE

Think about it, won't you?
Have you ever thought at all?
About the cold, the dark, the lonely?
The abyss where you are only?

I HAVE

Dream about it, won't you?
Have you ever dreamed at all?
About absolutely nothing
anyone understands at all?

I HAVE

Do it sometime, won't you?
Walk and think and dream?
With the moon right by your side,
Holding fear for everything?

Alright so Im kicking myself for my severe lack of access to a scanner. I got a set of charcoal pencils about a week ago and I adore them. So I thought I'd attempt a bit of shading. Im not very good, and believe me when I say, "It looks alot better in real life."
The quality is unequivically horrid. I hate my digital camera, it takes terrible pictures.

Oh dear. My t-shirt design was (while a finalist) really something I don't find so funny anymore. Due to the dubbed "search nazis" its become less a funny message and more an elitist prick kind of thing. I might post it, I might not.

I'll also comment on some of the recent work when I'm done... work... and dentist. I should be around in about 9 or 10 hours.

Well uh, I name it unnamed.
Anyway, I haven't looked through all of it but what I've seen is pretty good.

With the exception of "Explode" I think you posted those images before. As for artist's block, there isn't anything you can do about that other than looking at things. Be that art, nature, people or even reading books. As for going about solving it in the more immediate future, try looking at a wider variety of concepts. You have down blood, shadow and madness sorts of concepts but there is no reason for you not to explore other applications of your art.

Hey, some of that stuff is very good. Your figure drawing needs work though. Especially in the proportion department. You're own drawings have a lot of feeling and dynamics, but the figure drawings are static and have no weight to them. From what I can tell by the line work, it could be easily solved just by loosening up, you're too tight.

Ahh, yes thank you very much. :)
Those figure drawings were done in my figure drawing class (go figure....damn puns), and well...let's just say my teacher liked rigid things with little expression (which is why I never went back to his class). I do think I need to make things more loose and fluid, it seems to be something that plagues a bit of my work.

Those are pretty neat. I must say, even though spiders give me all kinds of both the heebies and the jeebies, their webs are rather pretty.

Don't worry about it. Seriously, they're good drawings.
I'm not chastising anyone... at least I hope no one gets the impression I am.

The rigidity of the from-imagination drawings can work for you well when it comes to solid line drawings, but figure drawing its a must to have that kind of flow. Its something I have to teach almost everyone I know who starts figure drawing that first, important lesson. If you want some tips on how to loosen up I believe I left an overly extensive post to Labyrinth a few pages back. If you don't feel like looking it up but are interested anyway just PM me and I can throw a few tips out there.

As for loosening up your imagination drawings, don't worry so much about that at this point. It will come eventually with experience.

Yep! That's right, it's even more Lady cadaver coming for your eyes!

I'm really enjoying this character, although all I've got of her so far is a concept, nothing solid as of yet.

I know her eyes are a bit weird looking in this, or atleast I think they are, I tried to partially ink her eyes in this one, to see if it looked any better then just solid colour, I'm still not sure which way to go.

Oh and I know i've spelled "Yield" wrong (or at least I think I have) but I'm, honestly too lazy to change it.

The more you post about this character the more I love the entire concept. I can't wait to see what you end up with after you develop her even more.

In that same vein don't worry about her just being a concept. Get the basic premise of the character down and everything else just falls into place from there. Hell, one of the more deep and complex characters I have ever come up with started out only as a rough pencil sketch of the design in my avatar, and so far you have a hell of a lot more than that to work with.

To pervert the famous line from Field of Dreams: "if you draw it, the ideas will come".

I've been in a drawing slump for about 2 weeks now, in that there's things I wanna try to do, but I just don't have the motivation to get started...

I was sketching with my tablet last night, and this came out. I'm not quite sure what it is yet.
