The Escapist's Video Player - Feedback and Updates

I can't find anyone else with this problem, but I haven't been able to watch anything on The Escapist since they started plugging their Youtube channel before all their videos. It plays the sponsor's ad fine, then the Youtube ad, and then it stops and hitting play just repeats the Youtube video. I've tried Chrome and Firefox, and it's been the same with both. Help?

Same problem here. I tried disabling Ad Block in Chrome and now it plays the regular ad and the escapist ad, but never the video. I then tried Internet Explorer where I have no ad block installed, still the same issue. Then I also tried it on a fresh install of FireFox with no addons and still had the same problem.

This is the most appropriate place I can think of to post this, please remove or move if there's somewhere else better suited.

The Escapist forums absolutely HAMMER my PC's performance, and I believe it's to do with the autoplaying video ads. Even with just one or two Escapist tabs open, my Flash Player's memory usage can swell to over 1GB resulting in multiple error popups, lag when typing, and straight-up freezing.

My system is running Windows 7 and Firefox. Anything I can do to avoid this? I wasn't having nearly as much trouble with the forums up until a year or so ago.

I could watch it on Youtube a week later if not for the fact that the blue background credits section is not included at the end of those videos.

If it is not too much trouble, please help me with this problem. Yes, I have emptied out my history, cookies and whatnot, updated the flash player and even turned ad block on and off. All have resulted in the same ad over and over again. I've made an account in the hope of reaching out to anyone within the site to please help with this problem. I've really enjoyed Yatzhee's work and it would be a shame that I cannot watch them unaltered again.

Having the same issue here, some old Escapist ad telling me to subscribe on Youtube, then nothing. I've tried on my chromebook, and Chrome/Firefox on Windows 10, but having the same issue across all browsers. What's going on here?

I'd like there to be an option to have the video player be the size it used to be. It's a small gripe, admittedly, and doesn't affect anything other than some convenience for me. Since I often have two windows open at once, I liked having Opera Mini latest version the Escapist playing whatever video interested me while reading/answering emails or what have you. Again, nothing major, just a tad annoying. Other than that, the more pressing issues from launch day seem to have been ironed out on my end, so kudos.

Looks like a bug that will never get fixed seeing that the Tech Team who managed the player were let go a while back

The embed code under each video once provided a .js url that had a direct link to the video

This is no longer provided but you can build this .js link yourself

First start with http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/config/

Go to the video you want to watch on the Escapist and grab the video post number

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/117153-Zero-Punctuation-Evil-Within-2

In the above case it would be 117153-

Then go back to the video player page -> right click the page -> view source -> ctrl+f "hash" -> copy the proceeding mumbled code - in this case a2290a8b9c0b67825c5aacfc24ff0cda

Add it to the url and put .js at the end

There are no links that resemble the last link you've posted. Not sure why I'm getting such different results than you are.

It's the latest glitch in the long line of Escapists glitches.
It has been known for a few weeks, at least in the Wild West, where a thread has been created.
I think there was one in off-topic as well, but it might easily have been missed.

The quotes are erased and the toggle reset every Sunday, apparently.
No known fix, other than resetting it manually, sadly.

Umm, there isn't any captcha on this site. That's why the spambots have taken over.

Or at least, that's what I've been told. I only have this one account (which is Pub Club'd) so I never see captchas anyways. So I have no way of checking who's telling the truth about this.

Something is wrong with Zero Punctuation videos today, they are ALL showing some sales marketing 54 sec video
