I played ET and didn't think it was *that* bad. It wasn't good by any stretch of the imagination, but personally, out of recent experience, I absolutely HATED Metro 2033

Half Life 2. I found it extremely bland in gameplay, and the story was meh.
So being average to mediocre equals the worst game ever made? I want your gaming track record because obviously you've never had to play through a really terrible game.
fanboy

the thread is worst game you've played. Not worst game ever
I've never played half life 2. All i was saying is that if the worst game he's ever played he considered average then he is damn lucky.

For me, has to be Robot Warlords on the PS2. Never have I played something as tedious and bloody stupid as that pile of mechashit. Ugh....well, Too Human is close. I liked the concept, the graphics and the story. What's not to like about Norse Gods? Well, evidently the fact they have crappy gameplay.
And there was that Dungeon Runners MMO. by God, that was bad. I never got past the beginner levels - I was fighting using something called the 'Cardboard Sword of the Bunny'. Now, I don't take games seriously, but I do like to have a decent image of my character. Seven foot tall. Built like a brick shithouse. Hits bandits with a cardboard fucking sword. Yeah. You can guess I quit that pretty quick.

Fuckin Damnation. Can't believe i bought that game. hated it
I went to Wal-Mart at midnight to get it. A buddy of mine wanted to play it, and all I knew was what he had told me. He said it was supposed to be better than Gun and Red Dead Revolver. Two games that I absolutely loved.

I popped that in and I tried. I tried to enjoy it, but it was fucking terrible. I always feel the need to complete a game I purchase, no matter how awful it is.

I made it about an hour and a half or so. The day it was released, Gamestop and Vintage Stock refused to take it. They already know how bad it was.

Before I saw this post I was going to say Eragon for the 360. Borrowed it from a friend of mine, and it hurt to play.

Damnation wins. Fuck Eragon, but FUCK DAMNATION.

I"ll probably catch some crap for this but the only game that comes to mind is "the darkness" I could only get through like twenty minutes of it before I returned the game.

Monopoly

know I know what your thinking. Monopoly is pretty fun for a while, good party game, etc etc. But it gets the worst game ever because we all know that after the property is all bought, all that's left, really, is to mindlessly roll dice. For hours. And hours. It's like Chutes and Ladders for people who are too old for Chutes and Ladders, and robs much more of your life then the few minutes Chutes and Ladders normally takes. Worse still, out of a sense of completion, your friends are going to try to force you to finish the game with them, and guilt you into wasting more of your life. Meaning that unlike video games, you can't just save and quit (Or just quit). Basically, Monopoly is just quality and social enough to trick you into wasteing more of your time.

Cheetahmen (any version. Any. Fucking. Version.)

This is the game that does absolutely everything wrong. Worse than E.T. for the Atari. Worse than Superman 64. Worse than any motion control shovelware.

The soundtrack is a repetitive loop of what literally sounds like digital farts, the graphics are the 2D equivalent of Bubsy 3D, the hit detection is hilariously broken and player killing, the controls are bizarre and sluggish with fucked up game physics (herp derp! I can jump forever! Until the game crashes! OHSNAP-!) and even if it all worked as advertised, it would still be a tedious, broken, and boring side-scroller.

Worst of all, there is a chance of the game freezing whenever you do anything that requires redrawing the screen. That includes level changes, climbing ladders, scrolling the screen too fast etc, or even spawning enemies.

The game was recommended to me back when I was looking for the worst possible game, and I don't think I've found anything that's quite this bad short of INTENTIONALLY SHITTY titles (which are disqualified by parody logic).

Advent Rising

Granted, I only really tried to play it in the last month, I still have so many issues with that game. Here's a few:

1. Cut-scenes... more like jump-cuts. The game had a horrible habit of jumping from gameplay to a cut-scene without anything indicating how you got there. Example: Just after you get your first psi-power you have to traverse the outside of an enemy space-craft. (What platforming you do wasn't that bad, tbh) At one point, the gameplay just stops and all of a sudden you're INSIDE the ship having a conversation with one of the bad guys. Also, your allies show up, seemingly out of no-where, and you have to fight your way out.

2. Weapon/power leveling: I get this game is trying to be an Action-RPG but when the action is as fast paced (one of few saving graces) as it is here, when are you gonna level up 15+/- different guns? I just grabbed a fast repeater or two, or paired it with the rocket launcher. The powers, aren't that great to level either. Maybe I just wasn't seeing it, but there's no indication how much you've leveled something between levels (no xp bar, essentially). Also, you gain your powers at such arbitrary times. Psi-Ops at least did it with some relevance to the immediate situation. In AR you just get pissed off and get a new power.

3. Killing off characters. I'd start throwing up spoiler warnings if it weren't for the fact that game is over, I think five years old. The human characters get picked off left and right, and even the important alien allies you gain die so quickly you never even get to attempt to form an attachment to them.

4. It doesn't stop! I really think they were trying to stretch the game for all it was worth (not much really) with the fact that there is a new uprising at the alien's capital every time you defeat the bad guys. It really felt overly padded with bad story writing, and terrible dialogue.

Star Control 3. Broken, broken, broken, with a side of broken. I'm fairly certain it isn't actually possible to finish that game.

Master of Orion 3. Did I say StarCon 3 was broken? My mistake. This game defined the term.

Beyond Zork. Had the bad kind of adventure game puzzle, the kind that expects intuitive leaps even adventure game writers can't make. Also I find annoying NPCs who can't be bypassed, stolen from, or killed immensely frustrating.
