Zool for the Amiga 600. first ever game and I was hooked, from there I developed through lost vikings, Street fighter II, Mystic Quest Legend, Mario and onwards but from that first moment I was destined to be a gamer

I got the N64 as an early teen, and it in general was what got me really into gaming...but I'd have to say the single game that got me the most was Perfect Dark. Soooo many hours logged into that game! These days it just gives me a headache and makes me nauseous. :/

I started out on platform games, like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. They were simple, fun and very easy to get into. First games I remember playing for more than just recreation were Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter, Final Fantasy VIII and Tenchu 2 - all of which action-packed, with compelling storylines that made me want to complete them.

Commander Keen baby! My dad fixed up an old DOS PC for me when I was about 4 years old, and he and I would play the shit out of awesome games like Commander Keen, Settlers, King's Quest, Police Quest...good games, good memories. When I was 7 he gave me an Atari 800 for my room. I felt so cool.

Anyway back to the present. I would have to say most of the games from 1990-1995/6 did it for me. I didn't get into console gaming until a little later.

The first game that I ever got into was Super Metroid, along with a few other awesome SNES games, the first game to turn me into a PC gamer was Counter-Stike.

I kind of had 3 stages to get to being a gamer like I am now. Started out with sonic on my computer, when I reached the PS2 it was Monkey Island (still a firm favourite). I got the the xbox360 pretty late, saw someone playing Fallout 3 on computer, and I got it just for that. Suppose when I got the xbox I felt a real gamer.

Must have been Game & Watch Gallery 2 for the GameBoy Color. After all, that was my first OWN videogame, all of my previous experiences with the medium had been at my uncles SNES.

Golden Eye. Sigh, I miss the days when if someone was pissing you off in a FPS' multiplayer match you could just reach out and smack them.

Maybe it was Sonic and Coolspot on Megadrive... but the game that really got me hooked on gaming was Broken Sword :)

The First Red Alert, the the second. I loved them and, subsequently, videogaming, ever since. I don't know why of all genred it was the strategy genre that attracted me, but I've played every kind of game (nearly) since then. I also remember to have liked the Mario games quite a lot.

Mine was Medal of Honour: Allied Assault, the 2nd level in Norway(?) with the guard dogs terrified me but machine gunning those dogs helped me over my phobia of them. I was 11.

I loved any number of games back to the originals - Zelda, Metroid, etc, but the first game that I played "like a gamer" - complete with all-nighters and missing classes, all day long, etc. was X-Com: Terror From The Deep. It had the combination of relentless difficulty, real rewards and progression, and a build that was just broken enough to require constant re-starting and frustration, but that persistence could overcome.
