For me, I think it was a perfect storm of Dragon Warrior Monsters (GBC), Crash Bandicoot 3, Ape Escape, and Legend of Legaia. That really pulled me away from "Hey, this Pokemon game's kinda cool" to "Can I just get to this savepoint, Mom?"

Though gaming didn't become my primary hobby until I got a PS2 and Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus.

What made me a "gamer" was Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy for the PS2.
What made me a real, internet playing gamer was Counter-Strike: Source, which I bought at the same day as I got my first computer.

The game that got me introduced to gaming was Pokemon, and the game that got me gaming a lot was Halo, both of which I still love to this day

It would have to be Super Mario Bros 3 for the Nintendo 64, I couldn't put it down and the minute I defeated the final boss, was the minute I stepped into the world of gaming.

Probably Contra on NES when I was about 3

First game I played and when I realized I enjoyed controlling things on screen.

Hard to say. I guess it would probably be RuneScape. After a few years of playing that I started to become curious about other online games, and one thing led to another. I went from someone who only knew Blizzard from Roller Coaster Tycoon to someone who loves and can (hopefully) intelligently participate in the Escapist rather quickly :)

Heart of Darkness (that game was so f*cking hard, and I was only 4/5) or Tomb Raider 3. I can't remember which order - my dad got me into them though.

Mega Man 3. I was only 5 or 6 at the time and I'm not sure if I was ever able to beat any of the bosses, but man, did I love that game.

Streets of Rage off the Mega drive. I played it too many times for me to ever not think of myself as a gamer

Full Throttle is the official game that made me love gaming.
Unofficially, it had to be the Learning Company games Treasure Mountain and Treasure Mathstorm (those are what got me greatly attracted to video games at a young age)

It' a tie between Castlevania and Kung-Fu, both on the NES. Little me, loved them both so much, that it was borderline obsessive. Ah...good times, good times.

There was a motorcycle game that came with Windows '98, and either that or Pokemon Red was the one that really made me a gamer.

For me there's been three phases.

-Castlevania first got me really interested in games.

-Metal Gear Solid made me realize how gaming could be more than just toys for kids and could have story and substance.

-World of Warcarft made me want to choose it as a field...and that's why I'm a game art student.

I had a N64, but I never really got into gaming until I played Halo: Combat Evolved at my friends house, and after that I was hooked. I really got into my N64 with games like Mario 64, Rocket: Robot on Wheels, and Tanx. After awhile we got a PS2 and I had a lot of fun with that, then my Dad got an Xbox for Christmas and I got to play Halo at home for the first time, and I was a very happy camper. I played Xbox and PS2 for quite awhile until 2006 when we got an Xbox 360, and I remember my first games on that were GRAW, Splinter Cell, and Rainbow Six(my Dad payed for it, so he chose the games, loved it though!) A few years ago I discovered Screwattack which got me interested in Old School games, so I bought a NES off Ebay, and the rest is history as they say.
