Cheaters
Campers
People who abuse cheap stuff (Grenade Launchers, RPGs, Commando perk, Shotguns)
People with horrible connections who somehow pull host every goddamn game

Quick Time Events.
I hate them, I hate them, I hate them so much!

They're frustrating in most games, but in Bayonetta they were just there to mess with you.
Like 5-6 QTE's in the entire game, and when they came up I always instantly died.

Gah!

Love interests...sorry let me rephrase that,BORING POINTLESS UNINTERESTING UNBELIEVEABLE LOVE INTERESTS,ones that have no importance or drive in a game and are just shoehorned in so teenagers can masturabete to the "hawt women".
And maybe so the designers can stick a woman on the the front of the box and get lucky with a few guys buying the game because of tittays.
This. Absolutely, undeniably, inarguably this.

I think I agree with everything that's been said here (QT events, public achievements, single saves, escort missions etc) but this is all the way up there. Games with story, please stop shoehorning a romantic subplot in regardless of any other factors. Please at least develop the characters first and only introduce romance if it will significantly affect the plot, make us understand and empathize with the characters more, actually develop and grow the characters, and if the two parties involved have some actual reason to be attracted to one another. None of this "troo wuv" at first sight stuff.

If you're too lazy to show us the long process of becoming friends, gaining an understanding, developing an attraction and so on (you know, as I haven't seen it in a game, I wouldn't mind it), just do what all those lazy shojo mangas do: say that the love interest of the protagonist is a childhood friend. Bang. Easy as that. We have some reason to think this romance is believable now and all it took was a sentence. Audience minds fills in the blanks.

Thank you thank you,i'm here all weekend *take a bow*

And please excuse my horrible mis-spelling of masturbate, that was unforgiveable :]

The intolerance towards different people and the stupid mindless sexism (In which both sides have been proven guilty of. Yes you know who you are!). Well and the general attitude of "Straight young males club" that been stigmatized on to your loved medium, we need to get rid of that.

Marketing deadlines - seriously devs (Activision in particular), please release a game when it's ready, not as soon as possible so that you can catch the winter sales or whatever.
So, like Valve, but with the capability to develop games in less than a human lifetime. (I kid, I kid, Valve should take all the time they need to make their games kick ass, but the delays can be a bit irritating.)

Also, the retarded, brain-dead Portal fans are something I could definitely do without. The game's quite good, though.

Scripted intro sequences where you can only pan the camera and watch annoying sub characters set the "plot"
I couldn't agree more. The length of these scenes also tends to be ridiculously long, with no "skip" function. Exposition and the story must be set up, yes, but surely game developers can come up with more creative ways to do it?

OT: Gah...so many things to choose from! I'm gonna go with "one voice actor playing many different characters". Oblivion, I'm looking very accusingly and ashamedly at you. Don't get me wrong, there are far worse game sins than this (losing experience/items? FUCK YOU!), but they've undoubtedly already been said.

Gaming Elitists.

They are the pinnacle of fanboyism, while a good amount of FB can be: convinced, taught, and enlightened on their wrongs of their viewpoints, elitists are just not worth it. They firmly believe in their viewpoint no matter on how wrong/problematic/ignorant the point is. Elitists start flame-wars, and create general hostility to any environment.

Trolls

The comfort of the internet shows peoples true colors, and most of the time its pretty damn bad.

Developers Sticking with Conformity

Like all medians, gaming is and has been going to a general list of sellers that companies all shoot for. Originality should be keypoint in gaming, as it introduced a new level of immersion that other medians simply cannot recreate, but if we're doing the same things over and over, everybody will become cynical.

I think thats 'nuff said.
I anticipate this to be the only good response.

Even the bad things and gaming we can learn from and be better for it.

I'm going to have to agree with the $60+ price tag for games, along with "parents" not parenting their children and letting them "grow up" to be obnoxious, entitled little shits. Pay-to-Play multiplayer for video games bothers the crap out of me. Sure, I could play System Link with a friend, but that means they'd have to haul their console and an extra television set over. I wanted to say inconvenient at first, but I thought about it. I'll call it excessively tedious and unnecessary.

People that rant and rave about "This game is a rape simulator" or"That game is a murder simulator" and have never, not ONCE, even glanced at the game to get an informed opinion. It was the same way with SB1070 here in Arizona when it was put forward. People bitched and whined about how it was built around persecuting Mexicans and was an act of racial profiling, but none of the people read it to see that it was to stem the tide of illegal immigrants in general, not just the Mexican ones. It even had measures written into it that would prevent racial profiling.

That kind of went off on a tangent, but I think the point still stands. Bigotry is bad.

whats wrong with James Cameron? he is excellent at grabbing a story, making it look big and pretty, and then strutting it around as another story.
then again, fern gulley was better
