That doesn't make sense, the shotgun is only powerful in really really close quarters so i still don't get the degradation rate.

In a mid field battle Submachine gun > Shotgun.
Close quarters Shotgun > Submachine gun.
Long distance Submachine gun > Shotgun.

Replace submachine gun with about any other weapon in the game except the flamethrower or a melee weapon and the shotgun is ineffective. My point is that the quick degradation is silly.
I would like to point out that the sniper is infintly better. More accurate at a distance with the same power. Hunting rifle is a weaker substitute if you run low on ammo.

I think I was too evil cause the kid didn't approach me until I was a minute's away walking distance from greyditch.

Can someone help me find Big Town? I can't find it and that kid is TOO annoying.

My character has absolutely no skills put into weapons save what I've found in books, but he now has both Science and Lockpick of 100, with Repair and Speech on the way as well. Combat was a real ***** for me (and still is, depending on the enemy), but now that I've got the Sniper perk as well as a Power Fist, things have become quite a bit easier.

Wow, I'm aiming at maxing out Small Guns and Sneak and then going for lockpicking and computin'! So i get a fairly strong sneaky bastard, but having no skills in guns? Ouch.

Also Part 2 is out!

Ant Wars, Part 2.

Headshots are almost too powerful, actually. I find it pretty much pointless to target legs, arms, etc. when I can just put them down twice as fast with a few bullets to the head. I think there needs to be a higher critical change on limbs, so that shooting them there will actually have some real benefits. The only time it's ever really useful to attack anything but the torso or head is when you're being rushed by a Raider with a Flamer or something, and would rather not wait for them to waste all their ammo.

Well in theory getting rid of their arms will make them suck as weapons. But they will still hit you..Shoot their legs they will move slower...But the ammo you use there could be better used to shoot the freak in the head and be over it. Atleast in fallout 1 and 2 they understanded how to balence it. Eye shots were difficult but the critical hit+eye shot could be all you needed. But headshots were still a bit better then torso if the enemy did not have armor over the head.

I think some Super Mutants wear helmets, but it doesn't seem to help them too much. The head should be much harder to hit in order to balance out the Sniper perk a bit more (though it's still quite good). Honestly, most of the combat takes place in fairly close quarters (either indoors or in city streets) and often there's very little downside to simply rushing up to enemies and spraying in their face with VATS until they fall over dead. Doesn't work so well against multiple targets (some of my hardest fights have been against ambushing Raiders and bounty hunters), but still too powerful an option.

....Ant goes IMA FIRING MAH FIRE, i go boom head shot and she goes pants on head retarded and starts spraying it into the air.

That alone saved me a fucking medkit!
Why did you have to remind me of that ant quest?!?! I was a low level when I did it, so naturally the things were bitches to take down, it took millions of shots!
In other news, I found a combat shotgun today, and I <3 it! It blows people's heads off in one shot from close range.

Also, I picked the bloody mess perk when I hit level seven today, and now I own in combat, amazing how much a 5% bonus can help.

Don't ask me how it works, I hit level seven, chose the perk and now no one can stop me! Seriously, I take down super mutant Brutes incredibly easily, but they were hard for me to down at level six

5% more damage times 30(Regular damage of small arms.) yields less then a extra point of damage for regular attacks. Understand why it is functionally useless unless your trying to be one hit wonder?

Paradise falls was a XP profitable place. To bad there wasn't a huge amount of slavers to kill.

About to role-play Robo-Cop. :D

EDIT: I hate this game, Now hear me out. I want to kill the fuck out of some children. Namily, Little Lamplights bunch. The first girl I talked to was smug and such and I got no option to scare her. Wtf right? My big burly guy in powered armor is scared of a girl in a pink dress? WHAT?

I'm actually apathetic about this game. Another post apocalyptic game.. but i'll wait for the review before i consider buying it.
