Sorry to sound like I'm discrediting your detailed account, but this thread has been rittled with realistic-sounding and believable stories that have been proven to be entirely false. Some with the intention of slandering someone else.

I said before that an actual confirmation of this event regarding LordKat and Noah was rather unlikely, but I'll ask for one anyway, or at least some public statements or any other proof that would back up your version.

Again, not trying to sound hostile, but there's far too much speculation and conjecture in this thread already to give something as detailed as this a free pass. You know how it is. We even needed to have Welshy confirm his identity before any of us took his claim seriously.
That's compeltely understandable. As I said above, I was at GDC that year and asked those at the Mojang booth about the interview I thought they'd done. I was given a pretty bland explanation that amounted to they'd found out he was with some guys who'd caused problems at E3 so they canceled.

Not really something I can show hard proof for though, so your call on if you believe it. That said, the rant where LordKaT talks about what happened is here [http://www.lordkat.com/lordkat-live-062112-part-2.html], and right after a higher up from That Guy comes on and while he avoids saying anything concrete, he says Spoony has been a problem for awhile and doesn't deny the claims LordKaT made, despite LOrdKaT having violated his NDA with ThatGuy by talking about it.
I would believe that except that never stopped Spoony and Joe (the ones allegedly responsible) from getting any interview they wanted plus the guys at Xcom this year turned it all into a big joke laughing along with Spoony and Joe, even naming an achievement in the new XCOM "BETRAYAL".

and it was shouted in the lobby when everyone was leaving on the last day not at any booth, look at the vid (and joes reaction was priceless)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nF_Ca45JRFs
Wow. They named an achievement in Enemy Unknown after that. Sounds like those guys have a sense of humor.

yea Spoony and Joe had a big interview with them this year and giggled about the whole thing, Lordkat wants to hold a grudge (if it indeed went down like he said it did and hes not just blaming Joe and Noah for no reason, because let's face it he is vindictive)

and speaking of E3's press requirements, they are having a website and talking about games, that is literally how lenient the requirement is. I honestly don't think Spoony wanted to go but he was kind of obligated by Channel Awesome to help legitimize Blistered Thumbs.

The XCOM guys aren't the ones LordKaT had an interview with. LordKaT, at GDC following that E3, had an interview with Notch from Mojang. Just because those guys were cool with it doesn't mean every developer was. Blistered Thumbs is small time, and has(or at least had) a reputation for being very unprofessional. Spoony and Joe also didn't get very many interviews, they got let in a long with others when the developers were doing demos and asked questions of the PR/Staff there organizing the demo, which is pretty standard for E3.

Honestly though, Joe being the head of Blistered Thumbs at the time probably had a lot more to do with BT's horrible repuation, what with the going around asking to choke people on camera and his Spike TV interview with Geoff Keighley. E3 is a lot more press oriented and professional now then it used to be way back when though, so I suppose the yelling thing could've gotten BT's Faces a bit more attention it really didn't need at the time.

ok even if that is true this was to the best of my knowledge Spoony and Joe's first E3, they didn't know what to expect or really how to act, I know if it was my frist foray into the convention scene I'd be a giggling goofy gamer, i too may have done something not status quo. In fact I did at my first anime con i almost got kicked out for being a goofy otaku.

but does Lordkat do anything to distance himself and try and bury it? no in fact he loves digging it back up, if i was trying to distance myself from an incident and prove i was not "cut from the same cloth" i wouldn't keep bringing it up and looking like a whiny douche.

Its seems that Angry Joe has learned from his mistakes and has matured since then judging by his more recent E3 vids.

He didn't make a big deal about it back then aside from leaving ThatGuy and just telling people it was a business thing. Pretty sure pretty much noone knew this had happened. It's only until things blew-up that he started ranting on his live stream about all the bad blood between him and Spoony. That was the first time he brought it up aside from presumably behind closed doors. And he hasn't brought it up since. He avoids talking about Spoony ever since his apology to his community, outside of tweeting Susan Arendt that The Escapist community was jumping on this after things had mostly settled down.

whatever we can debate it all day, the fact of the matter is by his outburst he has proven he is no better than TGWTG, he is prone to angry outbursts of absolute merciless vitrol alienating his fans and sliding further down into the muck, any shred of professionalism he claims to have or have had is gone.

there is no excuse for telling someone on an open mic for all to hear to take his bothers gun and splatter his brains all over the wall. just none, and I don't care how you, Lordkat or anyone else attempt to justify it.

you still want to be his fan? cool, I'm still Spoony's fan after what he said but don't attempt to even try and claim Lordkat is somehow a victim in this. Jason is nothing but a hateful, jealous little man blaming others for his shortcomings. Someone made you look bad ooooooo rise above it and prove them wrong, not host a live-stream in a dark corner of the net and wallow in your uselessness while claiming to be the greatest thing in gaming since fucking PONG.

How disappointing, but I guess you can't expect to bring together a bunch of adults with strong personalities (and issues) and expect things to be fun and games forever...

Whatever happens next, I hope Spoony comes out okay. His videos got me though my last two years of grad school, for God's sake. He at least deserves something for that.

I'm not really a LordKaT fan, I'm a fan of some of his friends on his stream. And I think he's a complete fucking asshole for telling Spoony, who is also a asshole, to kill himself. There's no excuse for it. But you can make the point that he's a massive asshole by saying he told a guy he knew had depression to kill himself. People don't need to bring in other shit, and worst of all be WRONG ON THE INTERNET*, about the stuff surrounding it.

*This is clearly sarcasm. Though I do find the inaccuracies annoying.

I wasn't there so I don't know all I know is the sum of what has been said/show about it, as for Joe asking to choke someone it was for a quick intro to an interview he was doing and the one who agreed to it backed out, so Joe with very limited time tried to get a replacement (clumsily sure but he was running out of time his interview window was closing pretty quick) until finally James Rolfe (the AVGN) agreed to do it. (and the choke turned into a punch because James didn't want to get choked on camera)

Its not like Joe went batshit and wanted to harm random E3 goers.

Spoony and Joe in 2010 thought they could bring their "skit" style of video making to a professional press convention, they were sadly wrong and learned their lesson pretty quick. LordKat being the adult he claims to be should have realized that it was their first time and should have been more forgiving than he is.

in fact this is the interview (at about 1:20)

Although that does beg the question, Why couldn't they?

Really? Is it that unprofessional to go to someone and politely ask if they'll play along for a skit for a comedy site?

Sounds to me like the "professional press" are just a bunch of pretentious dicks.

I am curious, do you know if anyone else from Blistered Thumbs who as at E3 '10 was denied access and interview privileges because of Noah and Joe, or was it just Jason?

In your original post, it almost came across like you were implying they didn't give two shits about the work everyone else was doing in their coverage of E3, which on paper... doesn't really make any sense. Especially from someone like Joe.

He didn't really make a big deal of it. At the time he left ThatGuy because Blistered Thumbs reputation was hurting his business. Recently, years later, he included it in a rant detailing all his bad blood with Spoony. And has since dropped it and pretty much all other talk of spoony. That said, that was a huge chance he lost. Easy to say to let it go entirely, but when Roo, Him, and pretty much everyone else at BT were being professional except Joe and Spoony? Resentment there is very understandable.

I think the only reason it probably came up was because it was fresh on his mind given that he recently gave up another business chance to take care of his mom after his dad died recently.

One things for sure. I have a lot more respect towards JesuOtaku. She's the only one in this spat who acted like a god damn professional.

Oh, Joe definitely seems to give a shit. I know he spends a fuckton of time on BT. I think back then, he took Cons a lot more relaxed and perhaps even as a little bit of a vacation before he went back to fuckton of work. Spoony... Spoony I don't think really cares. The way he attacked Deadliest Warrior and it's developers, the way he attacks fans, and how the way I've heard him talking about gaming journalism on LordKaT's stream before they've had issues..

And GDC, not E3. As for other producers denied interviews, no. Jason was only denied that interview to my knowledge. I only knew about the Notch thing before this because I asked at the Mojang booth. Those lower on the totem-pole having previously ran themselves ragged at cons and BT's reputation having caused them problems has always seemed like an open secret though. i haven't really followed BT for a few years, but from what i understand they've pulled themselves together since then though.

Your right I don't think Noah cares about that. I don't think he ever wanted to be an actual "in the field" journalist, he wanted to be a "reviewer" of random nerdy things someone who made videos for the yuks. I think Channel Awesome pushed the whole convention journalist down everyone's throat.

2007 (or whenever TGWTG started) no one was concerned with E3 or being a reporter really, then 2010 hits and almost the whole crew was going to e3. kind weird.

and and i heard something about telling his dad on his death bed to go fuck himself, Jason is a real class act.
Dude, what the fuck? Where did you hear that, and why the hell would you believe it? His dad died in the middle of the night and it caught his entire family off guard. On his stream he talked about how his dad supported what he did and just in general how great a father he was.

...True are not, that's the most metal thing I ever heard.

Imagine if that was the last words you ever heard from your son, seconds before you die? Fucked up man. Fucked up.
