I never had 'The Talk'. I had reasonably taught health classes growing up in school, foreign movies late at night, and common sense.

I didn't get The Talk, school had a Compulsory Movie at the age of 10-11 (my birthday is late in the academic year, so I was 10 at the time). Fairly sure I mentioned this recently in another thread too...

It was basically porn, lots of giggles and I couldn't keep a straight face. Sex was hilarious to me back then.

Still is a bit.

I didn't need the talk. The school system I went through taught me sex ed. from the third grade on.

We had a grainy dull sex ed vid back in school was not exactly compelling stuff and then in highschool a quite frankly horrifying lecture with our 50 something teacher, a rubber sex toy and a condom that was euch...

Appart fom that the internet was my haven.

When I was younger my father told me,"The only thing I need to hammer to you is use a condom till you get a visectamy." and when I got older my unwanted but true advice was,"It's simple in and out.. you'll fuck it up the first time."

I turned out fine!

Had it when I was around 8 or 9. Was watching Kingpin or something with my Father and one of his mates, when one of the characters calls the woman a whore. I just asked, 'Dad...what's a whore?'
The look on his face was priceless. His mate was pissing himself laughing at how awkward it'd be for us both. Anyways, after his mate left, we had 'the talk.'
Was fairly awkward, but I understood everything, and furthermore, understood what a whore meant...making the movie just that little bit funnier.

It's kinda fucked up how so many people here never had the talk, and whose parents instead relied on sex-ed from school to do the talkin.

I have never had to have the talk. My parents never found it necessary. I suppose they assumed I knew due to the sex ed classes in school.

I never had, "the talk". My elementary school had, "the movie", which was some guy coming in and talking about it in between short clips and slide-shows.
They made us watch cartoon bears doing it. I got mysteriously ill that week...
Hahahahaha!!! That's just wrong.

Never, as when I was eight, my friend showed me some porn, life changing for the worse, my mother may have, but since then, I've been glued to either the TV, computer... or TV but in this case, playing games.

"The Talk", ahh, your introduction into adulthood. So thats where kids come from! When you grow to a certain age and get your first boyfriend/girlfriend/whatever your parents think they should tell you what's what. I however havent gotten it ever..

I know nobody who actually got "The Talk" from their parents nor does anyone I know someone who does. Has the increased sexualisation of the youth rendered it useless?

In short, have you had the talk (or has anyone you know had it for that matter) and what do you think of its endangeredness (is that even a word?)

Ah, well, yeh see, the public school system certainly makes sure that negligence will allow you to find out that kind of "stuff" by yourself. It's sad really. You just gradually find out over the years.

I remember having sex-ed class in 4th grade, when I was no more than 8 or 9. Lots of giggles back then.

A couple years later my mom just asked me "You know about all that stuff, right?"

But I gotta wait until I'm married because I'm a Christian.

My mom woke me up a 2 in the morning to give it to me...which was pointless cause I had just gotten done with health class and I forgot everything she said anyways.

In primary school we had a weekly sex ed thing going on for a bit. Maybe for a term a year years 4,5,6.

My parents wouldn't give it to me anyway. The usual thing is ust "don't do anything stupid".
