And then Navi. Hey, YOU listen Navi...shut up.

Cedric from King's Quest V is a thousand times worse. At least Navi gives useful information and helps you Z-target. Cedric does NOTHING at all. He says nothing useful. He doesn't do anything useful to help Graham in his quest. He isn't brave and cowards at the first sign of danger. He warns you about danger...after it is too late to do anything about it. He has a very annoying voice. He gets captured several times through out the game and you have to rescue him. After a journey with Cedric, you would wish, no beg Navi to come back.

Ashley in Resident Evil 4. She was helpless and you should have been able to let her die. I never liked that game anyway so she was the icing on the whole cake. Of shit.

I really did not like Shizune or Misha from Katawa Shoujo. Shizune was pompous and arrogant, and even when her character was furthered defined, I still couldn't bring myself to connect to the character. Misha was just plain annoying, reminding me of some of the bright and bubbly people that I hate.

Rosh Penin from Jedi Knight Academy.

Only one that I can list from the top of my head.
THIS. He was a douche. That was his best characteristic. His entire purpose was to annoy you. Just infuriating.
Ha ha! I'm glad SOMEONE said it!

But....He does have one thing going for him. Without him, we wouldn't have awesome videos like these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lzYIKvUeFE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OyI2k1zf3c

And (Shameless self-promotion) I wouldn't have been able to make this: http://www.moddb.com/members/garyndakari/videos/i-hate-rosh#imagebox

OT: Yeah, I was going to say Rosh Penin anyway. Apart from that, there's just about any manikin from Oblivion that they try and pass off as a character...

Miranda from Mass Effect 2
Hated her the second I hear her say "I'm Sheperds Second in Command" when I would sooner put into the airlock and ACCIDENTELY hit the open buttom, and the way she dresses...SPANDEX EVERYTHING
Yus! she's the definition of an entitled *****... nothing about her character is likeable in the slightest... and her entire backstory is "My father made me perfect, so I stole my infant sister, against her will, and ran away, across the galaxies, to join a terrorist group..." there's literlly no reason to give her any amount of sympathy in ME2 and barely any in ME3... Seeing as how Bioware went out of their way to make her dad cartoonishly evil, just to try and Salvage this terrible character that everyone put up with just at a chance to see her naked...<.<

I don't really have a worst, but the baby faced, randomly dressed and crazy haired japanese characters usually found in RPG's put me off.

Leah from Diablo 3.
Will not spoil anything but everytime she is in your party she will not shut up about Cain. She is just so damn annoying to listen to, even when you read her diary she is just so annoying. She rarely helps out in your party at all.
my problem with Leah can be summed up by Penny Arcade

Alan Wake. A walking, talking example of what happens when developers start believing their own hype.

Alan Wake the game was an incoherent mess with some good ideas buried under a tangle of Stephen King fan-fiction, horrible dialogue, a confusing plot that made no sense and a terrible resolution. The whole game played out like some kind of wish-fulfilment for the writer.

Hmm.. There are a few candidates for me:
- Claptrap from Borderlands
- Yoshi, whenever he attempts to say anything
- Jar Jar Binks (I know he's more of a movie character, but he is an all-round failure all the same)
- Every character from the Final Fantasy games
- Mason from Black Ops. Mostly because Sam Worthington can't hold an American accent to save his life. Oh, and it was a Call of Duty game.

Squall from FFVIII, i am a big fan of the series, but Squall just pisses me off. He does nothing but complain and moan and be genertally emo, and then for some reason he gets put into a position of authority. WHY?

You knew it was coming.

It's like they took "The Architect" from the Matrix's snot nosed nephew and put him in a glowing onesie.
Yep, there is really no question.

Sure there have been annoying characters, evil characters, shallow characters and obnoxiously perfect Mary Sue characters.
But none of those could ever compare to the levels of anger, depression, pain, misery and general human suffering that the very existence of this character created. It changed the protagonist, threw away all the characters we'd loved in Mass Effect, undermined all the story up to that point, dimished all the story's central themes and culminated in an ending that made no sense and left us with nothing but choosing the color of the explosion that destroyed everything great about Mass Effect.

Reducing five years of anticipation into ten minutes of unbridled depression. The Star Child is the only answer, people are going to be saying his name is hushed tones for years to come.

David Gaider: "Hay guise, you know what's inherently funny? Mentally challenged kids. Let's have one of them in our game who only knows how to say one word, and then let's repeat the 'joke' about 200 times. Man, I'm such a good writer."
OH, GODS, YES! THAT GUY!

I just hate him so much! Hell, I don't even care about Enchantments in that game at all because of him! I just wanted to punch the kid and I didn't even care if he was...all there, if you know what I mean.

There's also Rikku from FFX-2. See, I don't mind her in FFX because she was kinda useful and relevant to the story then. But in the sequel, they reduce her to the 'hot companion' title and she's...well, pretty irrelevant other than being there for moral support. At least Payne kept her mouth shut and did her job: kick ass. Rikku just acts all dumb.

Then Cloud and Sephiroth both. Yeah, they were the precursors of all emo/pretty boy relationships out there but I still hate them. maybe that's why I hate them. Cloud is this emo guy who whines and complains about everything until the very last second of the game. At least other characters from other FF entries get over their emo-ness sooner and learn a valuable lesson. But it took one game and an entire movie for this guy to kinda get over it. "*SIGH* So lonely and misunderstood. Gonna go now. Don't try to stop me. #foreveralone". And I hate his supporting characters for not letting him go jump off a cliff. I'm sure there was a lesson somewhere in there about friendship and whatnot but I couldn't see it over Cloud's emo.
And Seph, the pretty boy who controls every single power in the world with his pinky and his hair always looks great and could be considered a pseudo-god. And then comes Cloud with a valuable lesson about whatever and defeats him. Twice. But no, Cloud is not even close to a pseudo-god. He's just a guy. So. WHAT THE HELL?! How can girls swoon over these two guys? They're so off-balanced and...odd!

And finally, Fi from Skyward Sword. I can handle Navi; at least you can kinda ignore that thing for the most part even though she's no help at all. But Fi is just there to be annoying. "OH, HEY! Did you here what that guy just said? Let me just paraphrase it for you with 'smart words'. Oh, you're having another conversation with someone? Not without me, you're not!" God, just wanna punch her in the face! So much for a goddess of whatever!

(EDIT: There's one character from Dark Souls that pissed me off a lot. As soon as you finish the Tutorial portion at the beginning (If it can be called that), you meet this NPC at some cementery/hill/ruins/whatever. I talked to the guy and all and decided to leave. Still not familiar with the game and being the first NPC that I've encountered, I started testing my combat skills. I hit the guy...what, twice? Next thing I know, the guy chases me all over the place and kills me. I come back to life and he's waiting for me. And kills me. That went on and off for about 20 minutes. I tried running away, fighting back, getting more enemies to fight him off (I died faster) and nothing. Finally, he fell off a cliff or something. But god, I hated that guy. I thought it was a dumb idea to have such thing happen so early into the game. I know the game is supposed to be insanely hard and stuff but that kinda ruined my experience. If it wasn't because he fell off a cliff, I could have been stuck there for days. All because of that horrible character.
Yeah, I returned the game shortly after that.)

I actually like Squall a lot and I guess because of that, I'm sort of able to justify him (Like any other fan of whatever would but here it goes for all that it's worth).

At the beginning, he is pretty whiny but unlike other characters, he doesn't want their pity and he doesn't go around complaining to others. He just wants to be left alone but everyone else just keeps pulling him back in. We know he's unhappy and stuff because we can see what he thinks, but he rarely walks up to someone ans says "HEY! LIFE SUCKS!". When he's put in a position of authority, even HE is surprised and reluctantly accepts because he also realizes everyone else is pretty much not fit or just plain dumb.

At least he eventually realizes he's being weird for the most of the game and gets over it. Zidane had one of those moments too. I think even Tidus did (Although I don't like him that much). You know, it didn't take them sequel after sequel after prequel to figure that out. *cough*

Alistair was very annoying in Dragon Age: Origins.
D: I loved Alistair so so much. He was a fun character and always got some funny lines in with the serious tone of the game.

Personally, I dislike... Marcus Phenoex from Gears of War, any main protagonist of a Call of Duty Game ever (minus Reznov), annnnd I can't think of anything else for now. Nothing really jumps to mind, to be honest; I rarely dislike a character to the extent that I remember them for it.

She's not the worst video game character ever, but I really didn't like Shaundi in Saints Row 3. What in the world happened to her between the second game and the third one?

The helping robot assistant from Skyward Sword. Boring as help, stupidly written, and treats the player like a complete idiot.

What? You think maybe if I push a button it may go down? I would have minded her stupid comments less if she STILL didn't act like she was smarter than me. Inanimate objects are smarter than her, I'm fairly certain I can manage to be smarter than that.
