They always look better when fully evolved.ProfessorLayton said:Oh gawd. These are hideous. Why, oh why, did I have to get excited for this. Hopefully they don't look this bad when they're fully evolved.
Yeah, too bad grass sucks. Every Pokemon game I play, I always use a water starter. I even loved Piplup. But this one... oh man, this one... it's an abomination.danpascooch said:They always look better when fully evolved.
I gotta say, these ones are especially ugly, except the grass starter, he's pretty chill.
That's rough, the water is the worst of the three, BY FAR.ProfessorLayton said:Yeah, too bad grass sucks. Every Pokemon game I play, I always use a water starter. I even loved Piplup. I agree with you dood! Everyone is too harsh on the new generations. Not their fault though. Nostalgia is a hard thing to ignore.apelsz said:Better than I thought they'd be. I pick based on which one I like best, so I'ma go with the fire pig, though the grass type looks kinda cool too.
And the otter with a seashell is cute.
This concerns me as well. I don't see how this works since it's traditional for kids to start training Pokemon on their tenth birthday. It makes me wonder what they've been doing the past five years.danpascooch said:Seriously though, this whole "Your character is 15 years old" thing worries me.
Sure it's nice to have an older character, but won't that mean he's already been a trainer for FIVE YEARS!?
Don't get me wrong, but G/S/C were still the best. From what I've seen so far though, and I haven't seen much, B&W are shaping up to be pretty good games. Might even give them a run for their money.Always_Remain said:I agree with you dood! Everyone is too harsh on the new generations. Not their fault though. We're worried about the starters because of the fact that as of now there are only 5 new pokemon we know of, if two of them look absolutely "pants on head retarded" *gives Yahtzee a quarter* then that's two fifths of the new generation we know of. It doesn't bode well.Dr. Danger said:This concerns me as well. I don't see how this works since it's traditional for kids to start training Pokemon on their tenth birthday. Every time I look back at the new starters, I get more excited. They've each endeared themselves to me entirely by now. All that's left is to see what Legendary comes with Black or White then stake my claim.
Why is everyone so worried about starters anyway? There will be other Pokemon in the game!
Thanks. You've just forced me to go get Platinum. I've only played the original and SoulSilver... But damn, that is bad ass. It just better be named A'Tuin.deth2munkies said:Legion said:I said they were running out of ideas for new Pokemon a long time ago and you all laughed at me! All of you!
That sounds like a mix between Blastoise and the fully evolved Grass type starter Pokemon from Gold/Silver.John Funk said:If you don't like a giant spiked turtle with a land mass on its back.Hubilub said:...
And I thought Platinum had bad starter pokemon...
Shame on me for actually getting my hopes up about the Pokemon design.
The idea wasn't bad but in my opinion the execution was poor.John Funk said:If you don't like a giant spiked turtle with a land mass on its back, a huge steel penguin, or a kung-fu monkey, I question your judgment.Hubilub said:...

I think anyone can become trainers whenever they want, just no sooner then ten, maybe these kids just picked up an interest later?danpascooch said:We're worried about the starters because of the fact that as of now there are only 5 new pokemon we know of, if two of them look absolutely "pants on head retarded" *gives Yahtzee a quarter* then that's two fifths of the new generation we know of. I imagine they'll either have some ruby/sapphire esque emergency that starts him off with pokemon, or they'll have him start like every other game and just ignore the canon contradictions.
