World of Warcraft being FTP.

It can technically be argued that WoW is FTP but has a premium service that everyone uses. I think Blizzard will make WoW FTP when they finally realize that it is dead/dying. That'll happen in a few expansions, lol.

This will never happen: A perfect balance between fans and developers will never happen. The kind of balance where fans go "hey, can we get this for the game?" and developers say, "that sounds pretty good, but we were thinking this", and both sides agree that it is the best option, with no one going "OMG THE DEVELOPERS DON'T LISTEN TO US" or "OMG THE DEVELOPERS JUST COPY OUR IDEAS AND HAVE NONE OF THEIR OWN". All that, and the game actually gets better, none of that "well fans wanted this feature to be in the game, so developers added it, and now fans are complaining about how it sucks" bullshit. The game would actually get good.

I think that certain franchises (like Resident Evil and Final Fantasy) have only a few more screw ups in store for us until they die a quiet death like Onimusha and Soul Reaver.

In other words, there will never be a franchise that sticks around forever and continues to provide quality with every single installment.

Even Mario will vanish one day.

But Metroid is still going strong! Sure there was that massive hiccup Other M, but I've loved every other Metroid game. Maybe because they don't have a Metroid game every other year? I would be really sad if Metroid games stopped being made. Or Zelda games.

There will never be a Firefly/Serenity game.

Now that is a depressing thought

OT: A game with a randomly generated story that is consistently good. Not only do games have the problem of creating random yet good game worlds, but more than half of the planned, human-written stories for games end up being no more than flimsy justifications for doing something or another.

Oh lord the nostalgia, homeworld was the first space game I ever played, and it had such awesome music

A Halo game centered on the Sangheili and Covenant history in general. A game that explores the rich Halo universe from the opposing perspective and fleshes out the backstory of the Covenant's rise and eventual fall and exploring themes like religious zealotry, church and state, racism and socio-economic class.

The potential for all of that exist in the Covenant side of the Halo story, but sadly while such a game would be amazing there is no way Sangheili as awesome and amazing they are will ever be as marketable as Spartans, which is a shame because I honestly want to see such a game get made but alas, it never will.

Yea, I wish they would make that but its a hollow wish...

Does this game have American box art? I guess now that we're not terrified of everything anime, it's kind of difficult to distinguish between the US and Japanese versions of the box art just by checking Google images.

There will never be another Final Fantasy Tactics as good as the original warts and all.

Square Enix will never realize how they have ruined their various franchises, and that they haven't had a decent new IP since the merger, and killed off most of the good ones.

Seriously go look on Gamefaqs under their game-ography and you can list the titles in the last 10 years that don't have "Dragon Quest" or "Final fantasy" in the title almost on one hand.

SaGa, Star Ocean, Front Mission, and the occasional Mana game are about it and barely even that. Remember when you used to get super excited for the new Square or Enix game? Now its pretty much become "ooh the new Level 5 game!"
