when people say "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less" (the latter is the correct version) - "i could care less" means that the writer knows that it is possible to care less, but they couldn't come up with anything that they care less about

People that say "fitty cent" instead of "fifty cents" blame American Accents...
Maybe where you're from people are more intelligent and can distinguish the difference, but over here, people usually say the former when they really mean the latter. Idiots.

3. Confusing 'Sarcasm' with 'irony'
I've never seen someone confuse those before. But if I did I'd give them an English oriented slapping.

Or maybe just a rant...

I don't know but when the phrase "like a boss" is used over and over again it just pisses me off. Seriously, I know one person who adds that to the end of every sentence he says. Did I mention I hates his guts?

"Ah, but that begs the question... [question]?"

No it doesn't. At a stretch, it begs for the question to be asked, but that's a different 'beg', and the sentence is tortuous at best. Begging the question is a specific logical fallacy.

With that said, if someone misuses said phrase, I will probably not correct them, because I'm not an impolite ass.

hmmm, tons of replies. i'd hate to think i'm repeating someone elses when i make mine the phraise: "I could care less!" when expressing one's disregard towards a situation, topic or comment. of course, anyone with more than seven folds in their brain can see the flaw in this WIDELY USED phrase; and it is, without a doubt, used often by both people i know and people on TV--people that should definitely know better--and it just infuriates me to no end. obviously, the correct way to phrase one's total lack of interest in something would be to say "i COULDN'T care less," removing all doubt that any amount of concern is had by the responder for whatever the subject is. example:

Person 1: Hey Person 2, what's up!? Man, i just downloaded the new Stone Sour album and it's SOOOOO freaking good. I dont care what anyone else says, the music is just so touching but also rocks harder than most other stuff out there. If you want a copy or anything, let me know and i'll burn it, NP!

Person 2: I could care less.

WRONG, Person 2. WRONG WRONG WRONG.

As mentioned elsewhere in the thread, using "That's gay" as an insult.

It's a sad day when the term used to categorize a group of people is now used interchangeably with "Something I don't like."

I've always been annoyed that gay has come to replace 90% of our negative vocabulary. As in: "Mark didn't say goodbye before leaving? Thats gay." It's not gay! It's rude or odd or typical. It has nothing to do with his...or anyones sexual orientation!

I've actually shouted at people about this in public.

" Umad "

I have a spasm every time I read this.
Well then, it seems to be working.

Thou enraged.
lol I was blowing my nose and nearly hocked a loogy all over the wall when I saw this response.

First off, it's...it's hilarious because the whole point of "u mad" is trolling on the person, and the person you quoted is getting enraged beyond belief over it, when that's the whole point of using it.

I have two:

1) All but. As in "The car all but hit me" when you really mean "the car hit me." What you are saying in the first one is "The car did everything just below hitting me in severity."
2) "I could care less." Yes. I'm sure you could, but you still care.

When people call people from England British instead of English. I hate that.

Its used because Brit's are ashamed of how much they ripped it of the Danish flag.
Thats not as bad as Mexicans and the Italian flag, slapped an eagle on it and called it a day.
OT. I hate it when people used rape as an adjective. "dude I was totally Raping at Call of duty the other day!" < Real quote... Just why?

I hate it when people on the internet make these threads and then everyone just complains about how someone used one piece of grammar incorrectly. Don't get me wrong some of these complaints are legitimate but a lot of you are complaining about really trivial things. Like Southern Ireland? Most people refer Southern to location.

People who type "anti-comments", comments that are actually about how people shouldn't be commenting on the thread.

Same goes for people commenting on show's and video's pages they watched to rant against people WHO WATCHED IT. We get it, you didn't like this episode of House. Go away.

A few days ago I was sitting in the park, when I overheard two middleschoolers arguing over whose school was best. One of them started yelling that "Maplewood Middle School's education is so much more better than South Orange Middle School."

The whole town was engulfed in the mushroom cloud from my atomic facepalm.

"It's all good."

.......................................

Have you looked at the recent state of the human fucking species? No, it is not all good. It's mostly shit.

You know what I say to people who say that? Go eat a blue waffle and then tell me "It's all good".
Sounds like there's some history to your comment. What exactly are you referring to?
Pretty much anything. That particular saying is used primarily by people who don't really give a fuck about what's going on or don't want to share their opinion on the given topic or situation de jour.

In my example, let's say someone gets dumped on tells a friend about it. After hearing said sob story, they go "Eh, it's all good man." No it isn't. I had a ready source of pussy, now I have to go through this whole relationship deal again. Unless I have the money to bypass that problem which, thanks to the current state of the economy, I have very little of.

And before you ask, yes this did happen to me. Only twice, thankfully.
