Titanic 2 Looks So Bad It's ... Terrible
A new straight-to-DVD disaster film about the Titanic 2 looks like it might be so bad that it'll steam right past "funny" and crash into "suck."
Bad movies ? if they're done right ? often have a certain charm that makes them a blast to watch and make fun of. Some flicks, however, look so stupid, so cheesy, and so bad that they just can't be saved by any amount of booze or mockery. Presented for your entertainment, I give you the trailer for Titanic 2.
This isn't a sequel to James Cameron's celebrated blockbuster. Instead, it's a movie about a boat named the Titanic 2 that's built to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the original Titanic's ill-fated voyage. The new boat sets out on the same route as its predecessor and (spoiler alert) an iceberg floats into its path.
As you can tell from the trailer, the crew isn't exactly successful at preventing the boat from sinking. Accordingly, the star power of Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio has been replaced by Brooke Burns (of Baywatch fame) as well as Bruce Davison and Shane Van Dyke. It should be noted, though, that at least a little money was spent on trying to make the ocean liner look convincingly classy since the Queen Mary was used as a stand-in for the ship itself.
The film is being put out by The Asylum, a film distributor known for producing "mockbusters" like I Am Omega, Paranormal Entity, and Snakes on a Train. Titanic 2 is due out on DVD later this month, and I promise that I won't be offended when one of you buys this and then sends me a follow-up email telling me about how it's all my fault.
