Why didnt they get they get the Luna brothers (wrote the sword comicbooks)and quentin tarantino (the Kill Bill movies) to write it

I hate reboots, never spend money on them, but this interests me. Mainly because it can't be as bad as the original franchise. I mean, the first one was iconic, but it's still a pretty bad film. Christopher Lambert is a shit actor (in Highlander anyway), the lighting and general mise-en-scene is awful, and so was the special effects and action scenes. The premise and the soundtrack carried it, and those are the only two things that should be kept

No he really is just a shit actor... I cant think of a good American movie with him in it, besides Tarzan...even then.

Anybody ever watched that Beowulf movie he did with it set in the future? it is craptastic...

Hey now he played Raiden in the first Mortal Kombat movie and that movie is generally consider a successful movie, a successful movie based on a video game anyways.

I think that is part of his appeal, He's so bad that he's "good". I cringe the moment he speaks in almost any movie he acts in. I know part of it is his accent (which he cannot help) but there is just something about his stage presense that just screams bad. Kind of like Vin Diesel (outside of Pitch Black).

Oh man dems fighten words. Vin is the SHIT you leave him out of this.

edit: Seriously though. have you seen Knockaround Guys, probably my favorite Vin movie and I generally don't like Mobster movies.

You know, I'm going to go ahead and say that it's a good time for a Highlander remake. Taking a look at the original, the choreography is dated, the special effects are worse, and despite that, it's still the best of the bunch. I think that a new movie, divorced from the continuity of the old series, could end up a great success, both critically and commercially. As for the screenwriter... Well it's not her fault that Twilight is a shitty novel series. A polished turd still stinks.

You must understand, my friend, that the Highlander franchise has been ruined for quite some time due to absolute turds of sequels. Personally, I think it can only go uphill from here.

As much as Twilight sucked, the screenplay showed a certain accuracy to the source material, as did her work on Dexter. It's not so much her screenplay that ruined Twilight, but the fact that it was Twilight. I'm sure she'll do just fine. Hell, she was on Dexter up through season 4; she even co-wrote the season finale. I'd say she's pretty damn talented, and probably the only reason the Twilight films aren't even worse than they already are.

I'll admit I've only seen the first movie (sooooo good) and while I've heard that the sequels/etc are trash......that part sounds fucking epic! xD

The years have not been kind to the Highlander franchise. The first movie starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery and told the story of a race of immortal swordsmen, fighting amongst themselves for a mystical prize. It was good, but it left no room for a sequel. Unfortunately, that didn't stop people from making one: Highlander 2: The Quickening. The movie was so bad and incomprehensible that the director wanted his name taken off it, and most fans consider it to be non-canon. Not that the subsequent sequels were much to write home about either. They never equalled the low point of The Quickening, but still met with overwhelmingly negative responses. With that legacy, it's hard to see how this reboot can be any worse.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but you left out mentioning the 6 years of the actually pretty good Highlander TV series. I mean, come on, it had some good action, great characters, and a regular guest star of The Who's Roger Daltrey. I rather enjoyed it.

Highlander 2 was a crock of shit though.
