Less than a week probably if its anything like Adobe's online drm. Now I have a reason to pirate AC2 since I dont have a constant net connection (lots of travelling about with laptop)dj Facchiano said:I hope they do realize that a week after they release the game the pirates will find a way around this block resulting in more people pirating it so they can play offline.
No you should go on Amazon.com and write 1000 1 star reviews complaining about the DRM and threatening piracy. That has actually worked in the past. It's what people did when Spore came out and most people credit it for finally getting EA to pretty much drop the whole DRM thing on their future games.AngryMongoose said:Yeah! We should boycott the game! That ALWAYS works.sirdanrhodes said:As a PC gamer, does Ubisoft not realize we are an unforgiving bunch? Do they also not realize we complain like there's no tomorrow?
Well, no-one's stolen it yet, so Ubi's kinda jumping the gun here. Sure, it's their software so they are entitled to do as they wish, but outright hostility to their customers? I think all gamers have a right - maybe even a requirement - to be outraged at being treated like that. Do they seriously think that this 'online only' system is going to be an effective anti-piracy measure, when countless other DRM systems have fallen before, doing little more than stoking gamers' ire and hurting legitimate customers?oppp7 said:I buy consoles versions. But it's their product and they can decide what to do with it. Yes, I'm partially the victim I suppose, but they wouldn't be doing this if the pirates hadn't stolen it. Therefore, I blame the pirates.Wicky_42 said:Wow, way to mis-lay the blame. How many games have you pirated? Hmm? Now, how many producers are assuming that you did? If the latter exceeds the former, you should be feeling at least a little indignant.oppp7 said:Well, I guess I could blame Ubisoft, but it's their product that's stolen. I hate pirates.
Now, does a company treating you like a criminal make you feel happy about yourself? Do you like LITERALLY renting a game off a company for retail price? Would you happily vote to curtail your rights, so long as someone was telling you that it was to stop bad people? If you answered 'yes' to any of those, I officially have no respect for your opinion as a free-thinking human. Though I'm not going to take your rights away because of it. EA is shutting down servers on a dozen XBOX 360 games over the next two months. You can't hide on consoles any more than you can on PCs.Eggsnham said:I have never experienced a problem like this on a console. Just saying.
You have to realize that not everyone has a solid broadband connection. Hell, I live in eastern europe and 90% of the people that I know have less than 1-2mb/s during the early morning and day, but at night I've seen it drop to 30kb/s. I seriously doubt the back and forth transfer of data isn't going to be a complete a total nightmare.DominicxD said:lol wut
You're all acting like they've just told you to fuck off and they're not releasing the game on PC anymore. Wtf are you complaining about? You have an internet connection so you have fuck all to worry about. >_<
No, because it's still stealing. It's their product, they can do what they want with it and decide how much people get to use it. If you have a problem with it then boycott it. Piracy will just make them react more harshly to it.Wicky_42 said:Well, no-one's stolen it yet, so Ubi's kinda jumping the gun here. Fuck 'em - if this isn't a clear advert to move to piracy I have yet to see one.
